48MP Camera for $250? Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Review

What is going on. Everyone welcome to a new YouTube video welcome back to Los Angeles today, we're actually in the studio, and we are going to be taking a look at this brand-new phone that just came out called the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8. This sends it over to me to kind of review and show you guys all the different kinds of photo modes that you have available on this phone. There's many modes, including a macro mode, ultra-wide, also a 48 megapixel mode. So what's the kind of fun stuff to play around with we're actually gonna head over to Santa Barbara California, which is about an hour and a half we're so driven from Los Angeles. Now they can be just really boring about, sat right here and talk to you guys for 10 to 15 minutes about this phone I'd.

Much rather go shoot it and show you guys what it's capable of producing. As far as images go, we're going to be testing this in a variety of different ways: lighting scenarios all that fun stuff, and we'll give you guys their feedback kinda has we're shooting. So without further ado, we need to go get some coffee first, because I am tired, and then we're going to hop in the car. Take the phone with us go shoot some foes and show you guys what it's capable of so, let's get into it. Now you really didn't think I'd forget my denim jacket.

Would you, while we were on the way to Santa Barbara I, wanted to mention that this video is part of the all-star challenge that shot me is hosting today? I will be capturing a wide variety of images, from portrait to macro to ultra-wide, so we're going to be focusing on four main shooting modes for this phone specifically, and my favorite has to be the 48 megapixel mode right off the bat I think, especially for a mobile phone 48 megapixels, it's pretty crazy, especially when you're able to crop in after the fact, and you're not going to lose as much resolution as you'd normally would, where the camera that's fewer megapixels. You can also pinch to zoom after you take the photo on the phone itself, and you're able to see your photo in much better detail than you. Normally would, and I think overall 48 megapixels on any camera phone is never going to hurt. So additionally, this camera also has a macro mode, as well as an ultra-wide mode. Ultra-Wide is kind of pretty well known on a lot of different phones now, so that's always nice to mess around with I would say just as I would normally on any other phone as well, if you're using an ultra-wide mode, make sure to have the phone pretty straight up and down, because if you don't, you're, most likely going to get a lot of barrel distortion and that never looks good on a phone, especially when you're trying to shoot an image of somebody that you're taking a portrait of whatever that may be.

If there's people in the frame, especially you're, really going to notice that distortion in most ultra-wide modes out there in these photos, video, the macro mode is also pretty interesting to mess around with I've, never actually seen a macro mode on a phone, if you guys ever seen it before. Let me know that in the comments, but to me this is brand-new on a phone. So it's kind of fun to mess around with I, don't shoot a lot of macrophotography per se like professionally or even really fun. So it's always nice to mess around with something that you don't normally shoot. I will say: macro is pretty fun because it allows you to kind of look around and look more at the details, rather than kind of the big-picture stuff.

So I've taken a bunch of photos of the surrounding plants, some nice rock textures, all that kind of fun stuff and that's kind of really where the macro mode shines on this camera. Portrait mode is also included on this phone and I think it's pretty amazing portrait mode in general, how you're able to isolate your subject and create some sort of both around the background. Obviously this is digital. This isn't like an optical okay per se, but I think it honestly does a pretty good job. I think there are times when it could have nailed the focus of the subject a little better.

But oh no portrait mode is a pretty impressive feature on this phone, so all in all, I just want to know what you guys know some final thoughts regarding the note 8, and it's for camera system, I think with shooting this phone. It's really made me realize how good these mobile phones are giving now on today's market, I think a couple of years ago, or even like think about five or ten years ago, when phones were just coming out for the first time. Mobile photography has gotten incredibly good over the last couple of years, and it's only going to get better. This phone is absolutely no exception. I think especially this phones selling point is how affordable it is.

You know you can pick one out between 200 and 300 dollars, depending on your storage capacity and also the size of the film that you want, and I think all of that, especially when you think about the 48 megapixel mode ultra-wide portrait mode as well as macro. It really begs the question our mobile phones as good as DSLR cameras me personally, I, don't think so. Just yet because I used cameras on a daily basis for all of my work and all of just these YouTube videos and all that fun stuff, but I think the more and more I review mobile phones, the more I kind of just look at the technology. Behind all these cameras, it's getting there, and I think that's kind of the fun part about all of this is just testing out kind of a state-of-the-art cameras and seeing where everything is and where it's going and that's me is really exciting. So thank you so much to Shaman for sponsoring this video.

Hopefully, you guys enjoyed this one make sure to go check out the phone linked down in the description. If you want to purchase one yourself, if you guys are also interested shy, might also have a competition going on. It's called the Star Challenge. If you guys want to you, can submit your photos that you've taken as far as ultra-wide goes macrophotography. Everything else in between you can submit photos, and they'll eventually be one person.

That's crowned the winner, guys are interested in checking that out as well. It's also linked down below lots of great entries from all over the world, which I think is really cool.
