What's up guys welcome back to another video, and today I'm going to give you an in-depth review of the 2018 iPad Pro versus the brand-new m1 2021 iPad Pro, and should you wait to upgrade or should you upgrade right away, let's jump right into it. So today I'm going to cover many categories, such as the design, the display the camera and performance and see if it's actually worth the upgrade before we jump into the review. Let me give you some specs. The 2018 model comes with the a12x bionic chip, the 64-bit desktop class architect with the neural engine, and it comes with four gigs of ram. But if you do get the one terabyte, it comes with six gigs of ram. Now the 2021 model comes with the all powerful m1 chip, same 64-bit, desktop class architect with eight core CPU, eight core GPU and next-gen neural engine, and it comes with standard eight gigs of ram.
If you get the one terabyte plus it comes with 16 gigs of ram. So do you need all this power on the brand new 2021 we'll find out today? Let's start the test off with a simple boot up test on the left: we have the 2021 and the right. We have the 2018. I think throughout this whole test, the 2021 is going to come out ahead, but the question is: how far ahead? Is it a couple of seconds or minutes we'll find out and as usual, the 2021 started first right not too far behind the 2018. When it comes to the design, there's pretty much: two differences, the camera and the speaker grills.
If you look at it, it comes with a 12, megapixel wide camera and there are a lot more cutouts for the 2018 version and then for the 2021 model. It comes with two cameras. It comes with a wide angle and an ultra-wide angle, camera, and it comes with less speaker grilles. I'm wondering it could be because if you hold it like this, you don't cover as much as the 2018. So I'm guessing that's why they made a change all right.
Now, let's test out the speakers, let's see since the 2021 has less grille cutouts, is it quieter or is it the same or is even louder? Let's see first, let's try the music on uh 2018. , oh huh um. I sound kind of the same, but I feel like this was a little louder than 2021, just a bit like, I feel like if there's more thump to it and more bass to it, and this was a little flatter. I mean if, if I had to choose, I guess this one would be better. So when it comes to display it's literally the same thing which annoyed me very, very much when they added the brand-new display on the 12.9, but not the 11, because I myself love using the 11. What I think they're going to end up doing is what they did from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 12 they're, going to add it next year and if they do, I'm going to be so annoyed.
But what is the display? It's a liquid retina display, 2 388 by 1668 resolution at 264, PPI, 600, nits, max brightness. It's fully limited display, anti-reflective coating, pro motion technology, 120, hertz, white color, display and true tone display. So basically it's the same screen that they used last year. Now, you're, looking at the footage of the 2018 iPad Pro, it's able to record 4k on the back camera with 60 or 30 frames per second, and it doesn't look bad at all, and you could use as your main camera if you're making YouTube videos. This is what the selfie camera looks like on the 2018 iPad Pro it's able to shoot at 1080p at 60 frames per second, so not bad at all.
Now this is what the main camera looks like on the 2021 iPad Pro. It's also able to shoot 4k with 24 25, 30 and 60 frames per second, and this is what I think the audio sounds just a little better because it has more microphones on it. You let me know now. This is what the quality looks like on the 2021 iPad Pro front facing camera. It's able to shoot at 1080p at 25 frames, 30 or even 60 frames per second, and also another cool feature on the brand new iPad.
Are you can now shoot at a wide angle, like? Oh, my god, look at that. You can even see my sister's finger on the camera. That's how wide it is all right. So now we're going to test out the new center stage feature on the brand new iPad. Let's see if it's able to keep me in frame with the 120-degree angle, it's doing a perfect job.
So far, it's keeping me in center. How far can I go yeah? This does a pretty decent job of following me around oh wow, psych yeah, it's good! It does the job yep. It works perfectly fine, all right now, the part we all been waiting for the performance. Is it worth the upgrade we'll find out right now, um, so we're going to do basic tests just startups. Like you know, we go on YouTube, see which one starts the first three two one there we go 2021 camera like 20, 20, okay, obvious what else stocks say there we go.
Let's go to the Apple TV, it's pretty much the same thing, let's start with a gaming test. It's simple: let's see how much the four and eight gigs makes a difference. Does it help boot faster and how much can keep in mind start with PUBG graphical, intense games, and we're off? So that's pretty much. There is a difference, but I don't think it's that much. To be honest, it's going to call Dewey three two ones.
Now, okay, now, let's try asphalt three two one yeah that was really close, that wasn't that big of a difference. Now, let's see if the eight gigs of ram can remember more games. Obviously it can't, but let's just try it out. Okay, so I've opened like 14 different games and, let's see if the ram was able to remember all the way from the back, which was planned versus zombies yeah, as you can see, the 2021 was able to remember all of it. The 2018 had needed a little time to think about it.
Um. Now, let's go back to the second and last name, which was a pub g and again there you go puppy's ready to go so yeah. As you can see, the more ram helps that's kind of common knowledge, but do you need 16 gigs of ram? I don't think so pretty much everything like I'm saying, you're ready to go here, you don't need to wait for it to re-download and pretty much yeah see ready to go. Let's try out geek bench run benchmark. Well, here are the results, and it makes so much sense why everything is much snappier much faster, and it's able to remember more things, there's a score.
Look at that! That's like you, got 600 more single core performance and then almost, almost double the multi-core performance, which is astonishing, and I don't know what they can do next year to make it even better there you have it. That's the geek bench 5 performance test. Now, let's test out the safari speed test, let's see if the m1 makes it a better experience overall for safari, wow um, as you can see on the score for the m1, we have 2013 and 2018. We have 144. This score translates to a better time on safari everything's going to be much faster, smoother, better overall experience, so did a lot better than I expected it to so.
After all this reviewing what are my final thoughts? You have the 2018 model, and you're thinking of getting the 2021 model. I don't think you should just yet, and I think you should hold off one more year only because I really think that they will add the new display for next year. Yes, the price will go up, but the new display you'll have the latest technology available to you. If you're in the market- and you don't have a 2018 model- and you have something older, and you're thinking of going for a pro model, then- and you have a little minus splurge- then yes go for the 2021, but I suggest you go for the 2020, because it's an a12c processor, which is very much capable, and it comes with six gigs of ram. So it will be able to handle much more work, and you'll be able to save a lot more money because since new ones out, people are gonna, sell their old ones, and you can get it maybe on Apple refurbished or somewhere third party, and you get a little cheaper than you.
Would you know a couple of months back? So if you have the 2018 model, just wait one more year, if you have anything older than that, you can consider getting the 2020 model because it's priced safe, but if you like to have the latest and greatest technology like me, then go ahead and get it because I know you won't be disappointed.
