So you can be alerted every time. We post new videos today we're going over a really awesome phone that a lot of people don't know about never heard of, and probably it's totally off your radar.

But this is an exciting phone that you should definitely consider purchasing. I'm going to give you a lot of reasons why you should consider it and three reasons why you may not want to buy it, because we always try to give you both sides of the spectrum here on h2 tech video. So let's go ahead and jump right in so just for some quick context. So TCL is a manufacturer you've, probably heard of in terms of TVs. They make a lot of TVs, and they're big overseas, and they've slowly made a big name for themselves: uh in the US and they're moving into the phone category now they've been making phone for years under the banner of Alcatel, but you probably have never seen any of their high-end phones.

You've only ever seen low in budget Alcatel falls. Onto actually makes beautiful, really high-end phones that never make it to the US. Well, this is one of the first of their phones to make it to the US that is a premium handset um under the TCL name, which is a more reputable name so um. What you're going to find in this review is that this phone is packed with features. You would normally find on a phone, that's a thousand dollars, but it is only 250.

That's right, 250 bucks, so let's go ahead and jump into our reasons why you should buy it, but I just wanted to set the stage with that, because I thought that was important context for you to have so, let's start with this screen, so we're getting a 6.53 inch. FHD plus display 1080p resolution screen very beautiful, very crisp, very clear um. You normally don't find uh this high quality of a screen, FHD plus in a phone in the 300 price range, so you're really getting just a really crisp and beautiful phone for great value. Moving on to our next reason, it's going to be the software, so this is going to have an android 10 software on it, but it has a really fun launcher from uh TCL, so uh the menus look a lot different like just for the app drawer. All the apps are broken down into sections, what type of apps they are, but you can even come in here, and you can adjust that you know name label usage, installation.

You can really customize it to how you use the phone and, what's important to you same thing with some other just built-in menu features so like, for example, this is uh an advanced feature. This is the smart manager feature beautiful, helps you keep track of the phone speed it up all that stuff, but with two fingers you can actually swipe up and get to private space, which is a really cool, uh area, where you can actually hide pictures videos things like that, so just a really fun take on android um and there's cool little animations that pop up when you do different things, so I've loved using the phone because it just feels different. It doesn't feel like using a normal android. It has just some fun to it. So definitely wanted to mention that moving on to number three, it does have a facial recognition sensor, so you can unlock it with your face and also has a fingerprint scanner on the back traditional not built into the screen, which I kind of like the rear, fingerprint scanner better.

Just because it's proven it works the ones that are in the screen. Don't always work that great, so it's just nice to be able to grab your phone and just tap book you're done you're unlocked, so you've got that those two security options, facial recognition and fingerprint scanner moving on to number four is going to be the camera. So you are getting a quad camera setup. You never get a camera set up like these four cameras on the back for 250 bucks and the main camera is going to be a 48 megapixel camera insane with one of the cameras being a macro lens. Now I want to show you a couple of the pictures that I've taken just to give you some context, because you're going to see a lot of phones this year, they're going to have uh, high megapixel cameras and multiple cameras on the back, but they're not going to all take good pictures.

So I wanted to show you some of the pictures I've been able to take. This was a really nice picture using the portrait setting and as you zoom in you can just see that clarity and that beauty. It really captures this picture great. It just came out. Freaking awesome, frigging, awesome picture of my daughter.

This is also using the portrait setting here and kind of blurs out the background. It's got her in nice, beautiful view I can zoom in you can tell if a phone is good. If you zoom in on a picture, and it's still clear a lot of phones, uh will take pictures that look clearer to you. So man, then it looks like garbage so um just great pictures. Now this was a night shot picture that I took now.

One thing I've been really impressed with this phone. About is the front uh. Camera is freaking. Awesome like selfies are so crisp clear. Now this one was a night shot, and I was going to say one of the downsides of this phone is the night.

Shots are amazing, but they still look pretty good. This was a picture of me and zooming in you know it gets a little blurry, but all in all, like I'm outside, it's really dark, and it still managed to get a decent shot. So not bad wanted to show that this was a fun picture out in the sun. Using that portrait setting with the outside blurred out, we had a lot of uh sun kind of bright background, but it really got a nice shot of my little one other daughter, a picture of a slow sign. Some nice flowers outside the colors really pop that yellow this really captures it great.

This was a tree that just man really I'm we're walking by this trail. I have to get a picture of this, so I was super impressed with the phone and the camera. It really lives up to that four uh camera setup on the back with a 40 megapixel uh, you know setting now here's the thing again. A lot of phones are gonna, have a lot of cameras on this year. Zoom in you can see if that camera is actually good or not so anyway, love the camera set up, wanted to mention that jump in number five snapdragon 665 processors, with six gigs of ram.

That's right! Six gigs around find me another phone in the 200 price range that is six gigs of ram. So for those of you like to play, games, uh or power users love to juggle a lot of things on your phone. It's going to be able to handle it with a great processor for Qualcomm and that six gigs of ram moving on to our next feature is going to be the customizable button on the side here. So a lot of phones, you get, they have a side button, and you know it's some stupid voice, assistant or Google Assistant or Bixby or whatever. This phone is like: hey we're gonna, give you a button and do whatever you want with it.

So I have it programmed to launch my favorite note app, which is right here, and you can actually launch um. You can set it to launch multiple things. So if I hit it twice, it will launch YouTube and if I hold the button it will launch my flashlight, you see, and you got a dual flashlight on the back there. So just simply using the smart key app. It will allow you to customize that button to do whatever you want it to do so, essentially, we're not going to tell you what to do with it.

Do whatever you want with it, we're just putting it there, which I love and um. I hope more manufacturers will get on board with just you know: stop trying to push an assistant on us just say: hey! Here's a button! Do what you want with it! Moving on to our next reason, it's going to be some fun software extras that are built in so one of them being a screen recording option here. So you can actually record your screen for those of you who play games. You can record gameplay for those of you that, like to do little tutorials and things you can just do it right through there and just record your screen, it'll grab the audio from the microphone and whatever you do will show up in your video when you're done just hit that button and that just shuts it off. So you've got that.

If you go on the settings here, and you also go down to advanced features, you have an app cloner. You have a cool gesture mode which you'll find on a lot of phones. These days too, there's a gaming mode that optimizes it for gaming. There's a cool driving mode just for you that want to be safer when you're out driving so got a lot of fun software extras there again, normally high-end flagship phones are going to give you all that, but the basic phones won't. This is giving you everything you find in the flagship, but for a better value.

Moving on to our next reason, it's going to be the ability to record 4k video. If you go to the camera, you go to settings and go to video. You can actually change it to 4k video recording, so you know record nice and beautiful shots for those of you that are, you know, want to do video blogging or just take better quality. You know: family pictures, hey 4k, video recording, and you've got 64 gigs of internal memory, so you're really set in terms of space, and you can expand that as well. Furthermore, you can just pop out the memory card pop out the slot here using your sim tool, and you can pop in a memory card to get even more space on your phone as well.

There gotta love that you also have a headphone jack built in, which is something that all the flagship phones are taking away but plug in your traditional headphones, and you know enjoy without having to buy extra adapters and do different things like that. Next reason is going to be, you actually get a case, a free case built into the box of the phone. So one of the things with launching a new phone in the US is that sometimes manufacturers don't want to take a chance on you right away, but guess what TCL is like? I got you, they give you a case in the box, so the first case is on them and after that you can always buy more. I've been a little disappointed.

Furthermore, I haven't seen a ton of cases uh available online, so felt good, knowing that at least there was a case in the box. You've got some initial protection, and I'm sure more cases will be rolling out real soon and for our last reason it's going to be the price like we started with 250 bucks on Amazon 6.53-inch, HD display, 48, megapixel, quad, rear camera setup. This phone is incredible: um really high quality for the price, and I've been recommending it like crazy, because it just gives you everything that you would want for a just an amazing price point: 250 bucks. So these are all the reasons to buy the phone. Let's get into some quick reasons why you may not want to buy it.

The first one is going to be no wireless charging. They did have to leave that feature out. Unfortunately, that's one of those flagship features, and we didn't get that, but that's okay, um. Next, the phone is not water resistant and third, it is not 5g capable if you can get over those three things. This phone is totally a winner.

I've been very impressed with it, and again I think you guys are going to love it too. I'm going to leave a link below in the description. I am currently actually using the big brother of this phone, the TCL 10 pro, and it's got a few extra fun little features, which is why I'm using that one.
