Unboxing & Overview of SAMSUNG Galaxy XCover 5 – First Impression

Welcome in front of me is the galaxy inks cover five, and today I'll go over unboxing along with a quick overview of this device. So, let's pop it open, I'm going to grab a knife, we go now. Obviously the packaging right here you can immediately see is just the most bare minimum that it can possibly get away with. It's a flimsy cardboard, nothing premium, nothing nice, but then we don't really care about packaging. Let's be honest. Now in here we got some paperwork because Samsung never includes any kind of case and yep, I'm correct.

It's just paperwork, so heat that to the side pop out the phone feels extremely light. I thought that it might not have a battery because it did feel too light. So it comes without well, not in a device. Here we got some cardboard whatever we got a charging cable. Let me quickly check.

It looks like it's type c, but I just want to make sure and yep. It is a type c, cable, so type a to type c, which isn't necessarily what Samsung includes right now with their devices. So I assume they're just getting rid of old stock, because this is what the older chargers used to be like um. Nowadays, we have well the Samsung chargers, come basically type c2 type c, so this is not it anyway. Uh actually probably should just leave that right here.

Just so, you can see. What's in there we go, let's unpack the battery, which is something that I didn't think I'm going to say in 2021, but here we go so can I just like push it out all right, I can there we go it's good, that it's a robust phone, so I can just toss it around now. Personally, I'm not a fan of this kind of design of just popping your phone open uh. It does help you with changing out the batteries and all that stuff, but uh I never really like, especially when you drop the phone and everything just comes apart. It's like battery falls out.

The case opens its just never fun so anyway. Now that the battery is in, I can power it on. So when you're looking at it right now, it looks okay, I would say, but once you actually see the device turn on you'll see that the display isn't basically just kind of trash here number one. It is not an AMOLED display which uh I'm kind of used to with almost every Samsung device. Even the budget ones comes with it.

This one does not um but yeah anyway, let's actually get into the specifications to the so. The display here is a 5.3 inch display with a resolution of 720 by 1480 p, and it's a pl sips display easier, such as IPS, probably, and it's a 67.7 screen to body ratio so again, and this will feel super outdated, and then it has a pixel density of 311 and, oh, my god looks terrible gee. Those bezels are huge. Um yeah this device just looking at it right now, no way wow. So I just checked the date.

This phone was released this year. This phone looks like it's at least five years old in the design wise. So anyway, lets uh, let's go to the setup right here, I'll quickly skip through almost everything. I can uh one thing that I just literally despise here as uh Samsung, forcing you to connect to Wi-Fi throughout the setup of a brand-new device. It's not locked! Why? The hell would I need to connect to Wi-Fi.

I want to skip it for okay, fine, it's not really about the fact of connecting to Wi-Fi or not it's more about the choice, especially when you're setting up the device uh you're literally forced into it for some unknown reason. It shouldn't be like that, no other device does it. There's no excuse for this. There's also no reason for this great um. This is going outstanding.

I love the devices that, just throughout the setup, just managed to tick me off. So while this is doing whatever, for whatever reason we can go over the rest of the specs, so uh cameras here are just pure another garbage. As you can see, there is only single one on the back, which is a 16 megapixel uh sensor, shoots at 1080p, 30 frames again and basically kind of omits the Samsung brand of trying to have the best cameras, even though this device is fairly cheap and uh, not really catering to well camera and all that stuff. I would still like to see something better than 16 megapixels for, for goodness this, this costs how much uh 270 euros or yeah. Something like that.

It's close to 300. For that price. You will have a way better uh, for instance, a Xiaomi device, Poco uh, basically Xiaomi polo. Those will blow this phone out of the water and, if you're buying this, because it's uh the brand x cover as in robust phone. This thing feels like just a cheap crap that you could break with your hands.

I don't think it's going to survive any kind of fall. It might actually because the bezels here are protecting the almost non-existing screen real estate, but other than that. This one doesn't feel robust. It's just out of plastic ain't, robust, so yeah previous, I believe covers did come with like rubberized stuff, which still they don't really feel too robust. But this is just this feels like a typical normal phone five years ago.

It doesn't feel robust. It's just a trash phone from five years that that's kind of a quick way of describing it. Furthermore, it has nothing to really go for it. Cameras are crap. Can I now like set it up without resetting it? That would be amazing.

So, apart from that, we also have at the front 5 megapixel selfie camera. Then we have a XML 850, four gigabytes of ram 64 gigabytes of built-in storage, uh 300 or 300 3 000 William hour battery and 15 watt charging um for this price. This one is just utter pure garbage um. I wouldn't recommend getting it at all. If you want to have a durable phone or something like that, just for instance, get yourself a Xiaomi device for basically one third less.

They will come out like 200 to 150 they'll, be significantly better than this in every possible way and for the rest of the money. You know what you can get yourself a just tank case that will protect the phone uh. The phone will look better, have a better screen, bigger screen, better higher refresh rate higher quality of display um the battery will be better, charging will be better cameras will be better. Everything will be better. This is just kind of garbage that you might kind of hand off to your grandma uh in case that she drops phones, um yeah.

This I don't know I wouldn't really give her that either so yeah um. That being said, I wouldn't really want this phone I've, if the only reason why I would go with a cheap Samsung device like, for instance, this one would be probably only for the Samsung tags, but that is just neither here nor there, if you're, not planning to use the tags which are Samsung brand only for Samsung's, basically, and then there's no reason for to get this. I just go with any kind of other device that will work way better than this and that's kind of what I will leave it out and not worth the money and that's it. So if you found this very helpful, don't forget to hit like subscribe, and thanks for watching.
