Sony XZ2 VS HTC U11 plus - Low light camera

In our first two shots of the test. We see both phones, exposing the scene in similar fashion with well-balanced, highlights and shadows. Colors are slightly more punchy on the xc2 shot and resolved. Detail is better looks like the noise reduction in the HTC is too aggressive. It was a windy night and the leaves were moving quite a bit, but Sony did a very good job in freezing the frame. Much more detail than in the HTC photo we're slower, shutter speed introduced some motions blur again we see Sony having the better more vibrant colors here.

The white balance is also very good, as the light on top of the flower was very warm. Dynamic range is slightly better in the HTC photo, but zooming, and we see a great loss of detail in the HTC shot compared to the Sony phone. As with the daylight comparison between the two phones, we see Sony have a better representation of the red color. Even if the dynamic range is slightly worse, it has much better details than on the HTC shot. Noise reduction again is too aggressive, washing out fine detail on the statue and the HTC photo again.

Dynamic range is better in the photo on the right, and this time the colors are better to Sony over saturated, the colors on the wall, a bit too much on a closer inspection. We see HTC missing the focus again. I focused on the lamp on both phones, but HTC decided to focus on the wall behind it. The pattern continues with Sony having the darker more contrasted photo with more vibrant colors. The u11 has the better dynamic range, but more muted colors.

This time the detail levels are good on both phones, maybe slightly better on the Left photo in this shot. HTC decided to use a much higher ISO value than Sony, and it shows the photo on the right is much brighter, maybe too bright for its own good Sony has the more natural look to it with a good exposure, but surprisingly has more noise but no benefit in detail. This time the phone's behaved the opposite, Sony being the one with the overexposed picture and HTC having the more balanced exposure with better dynamic range. Colors again are more vibrant in the xc2 photo, making it more pleasing to the eye, but detail levels and sharpness are almost the same with the HTC picture. This is the shot where HTC crumbles into dust, even if exposure and dynamic range are as good as on the Sonia colors are 2d saturated, almost black and white, but the greatest problem is the detail and clarity being way too soft compared to the Sony picture.

In this extreme low-light scenario, both pictures are almost unusable. HTC has the brighter photo, but is very soft due to the extreme noise reduction and Sony has the darker picture, but still retains some clarity and color information. I think you all got the main picture by now. My subjective opinion is that Sony xc2 is much better in low light than HTC u11 delivering sharper photos with better contrast, colors and even if they have a bit more noise. In some instances they have way more detail.

There are two or three shots where HTC was up to the task delivering similar, if not better results, but it's definitely not enough to be on the same level as Sony at the end. I will let you watch the next set of pictures without commentary for each one of you to make your own opinion. You.
