Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: Unboxing and First Look

This is Samsung's zed fold 2, it was my smartphone of the year last year, but it's been replaced, and this has just been announced. The galaxy zed fold 3 5g- and this is my unboxing and first impressions. So the first thing you'll notice, is a change in the camera array at the back. So it's a lot chunkier over here in the old one, the new one, a lot slender still three cameras, they're, very good they're, not the top of the line, s21 versions, but they're still handy cameras to have on the back, and you can get some amazing results on the front. You can see the candy bar screen. This has been upgraded, is now 120 hertz on the front screen which matches what's inside on both of these phones, which is 120 hertz on the main screen folded out so side by side with the screens open.

These phones are essentially the same size as some minor changes, but there's a lot under the hood. The screen here is about 30 percent brighter with its new eco setting, and it means that it'll go longer as well, and I just think it looks better already. There are other fundamental changes underneath to make this also work with an s pen. I've got an s pen with me right now, and you have to have the right one to make sure it works. This is the demonstration or the video they used in the launch at unpacks.

So that really is one of the things that I wanted for this particular foldable device is a pin because it takes it to the next level as far as using it as a productivity tool. So that's a great win from Samsung and Samsung have been listening. Here's another thing I didn't say anything at the time, but I've been sort of building. Up to this I was going to say what should Samsung include or take out in their model, and this is it so check this out when watching videos on the fold 2? There was one thing that frustrated me, and it was right here the punch hole for the front-facing camera. Now, normally you wouldn't worry about it, but it just annoyed the hell out of me but get this it's gone or has it side by side opened up and there it is no punch hole, but there is something there.

Let me show you: let's go right up here. If you can just see right there. Next to my finger, there is actually a cut-out for the camera. This is the world's first, as Samsung said in unpacked under screen camera for a foldable device, and it does a perfect job. You can see it.

There they've reduced the pixels to allow the vision to come through and to disguise somewhat the actual camera, but it does look stunning when you have it side by side with another device that had it beforehand. So that is a great change and, although I said is visible, you have to look hard for it and, after a while, you just forget all about it. It's such a great job. Now there are times when you want to see the cutout and Samsung have been quite clever about this. So if we launch the camera, you can see, the cutout is right there.

So when you need to see it, it is there you go, but let's flip the camera around to the back, and it's gone and like the actual fold in the middle, it is there, but when you get one of these and use them regularly, you very quickly forget all about it. I absolutely guarantee that, and that is a good start. I love this great work Samsung, and thank you for listening to people. That's the biggest thing any tech company can do the other great thing about it, and I can't demonstrate right here: is water resistance, ipx8? That means that if you have a little accident in the bathtub, maybe at the swimming pool, whatever you're able to have a phone that survives, they've done a lot of impressive engineering to seal this thing up and there's been a lot of work on the actual hinge itself. So this wasn't an easy task to seal off the environment from inside there's a stack of other things.

I'm going to deep dive into in my full review on image, matrix tech I'll have some more on the phone on Sunday, with Tim Gilbert on weekend edition Sky News, Australia. So don't miss that 7 15, Australian eastern in terms of availability. You can order them right now august 12, 2021, but they won't be available in stores until september 10, 2021, and as I reach for the paperwork, to talk to you about the prices. There's some good reason to invest in this year's because it's actually cheaper than last year's model. This shipped last year for a recommended retail price of 2999 Australian dollars.

So three grand for that last year, but this year the fold three comes in at two thousand four hundred and ninety-nine dollars. So five hundred dollars off that's for the 256 gigabyte version. If you want the 512 version, you'll pay 2649! So there's value this year, which is exceptional. You can also get a bonus if you order early so check out those deals online. So that's a quick unboxing price look and first impressions and my first impressions are very good.

This is a great execution for fold three. I can't wait till we see how this phone evolves in a couple of years time, so full review coming soon on image, matrix dot tech. I can't wait to bring that to. You also have the flip, the buds, all the other accessories that were announced and unpacked only last night see you soon.
