Samsung Galaxy Watch Active // Unboxing & First Impressions!

All right folks, so here it is the Galaxy watch active for a Samsung, so the Galaxy watch active is gonna, be a less expensive version of the Galaxy watch that was released last year and if you haven't watched my comprehensive review of the Galaxy watch. I've got a link for it that right here or so, but that's the kind of detail I like to go into with my reviews, I like to test as many activities as possible. Just so, you can get a better idea of how it's going to work for you so make sure to subscribe, to get a notification when that video drops and also if this video does help it help. Don't be shy about hitting that like button down below it's a small little thing that you can do that, helps the channel out a lot and I appreciate it. So I guess: let's go ahead and get this out of the box, so this is actually a tiny little box. It's really not much on the outside of it, and it just says that it's look nice and lightweight Smartwatch.

It's going to have advanced, auto fitness tracking. Furthermore, it's going to be swum, ready, water, resistant down to five atmospheres or 50 meters. Furthermore, it's going to have Bluetooth Wi-Fi as well as GPS, then inside the box. There's this weird little piece of cardboard: ditch that that's gonna, be the watch itself right here, and we're going to have probably an extra large band, I assume. Then, in this little cone-shaped thing we have the wireless charger and that's it for everything inside the box.

So wireless charger, really quick, it's going to have some plastic on the outside of it. It is still gonna, be USB Taipei, unfortunately, so the Galaxy watch is gonna, come with four different colors and only one size option, and today I have the black version, but first impressions. This is a nice solid piece of hardware right here. There's definitely nothing cheap about it and at the $1.99 price tag. I would expect something a little cheaper feeling, but it's got a nice construction to it.

It's super, super solid. The buttons are nice and responsive, and then these are gonna, be twenty millimeter watch, straps I believe, and these seem to be industry standards. So you should have plenty of different options to choose from, but the stock strap is super soft and comfy. Actually, it reminds me very much of the stock strap on the Apple Watch Series for and funny enough. This sort of takes inspiration from the Apple Watch Series for band as well, where you actually tuck in the extra bit of band underneath the opposite end.

Interesting and again, it is really darn light I think it's 25 grams without the straps. So let's turn it on alright. So it just says the let's go right here: get started with the galaxy wearable app on your phone. I already have that going so there we go. It says: galaxy watch active, holy crap, alright, so quick little how to use while it's paring, home screen he's gonna, have your watch face as well as swiping left to show the different widgets and then just swiping right to show different notifications.

We're going to have the two keys, so the top keys going to be the back key and then the bottom keys going to be the home key and then, in terms of getting the best heart results, they recommend getting the best heart rate measurement, where your watch about a fingers' width above your wrist and make sure it's not too tight or loose, and then, in terms of notifications, you can get notifications on your watch, so you can check them out easily. I am pairing this with an iPhone first, but I actually do have a Google Pixel tool paired this with I'm, not gonna, go out and buy a Samsung phone just for this review, but we should get a pretty good idea at least of how it's going to work on an Android phone versus an iPhone, at least so, let's go check out these notification settings, and then we're going to receive notifications or have blocked notifications. The app store, that's pretty funny, it's already automatically blocked, and then we're going to turn on the screen. Let's just go ahead and turn on the watch screen when notifications you receive. Let's do that and then auto show the details as well, and then we're going to have a notification indicator as well.

Alright, so there you go, that's all set with the iPhone at least we're going to put this away and let you check out the watch itself, alright, so take a look around we're gonna, swipe left for the widgets, see daily activity and then swipe right to go to the watch, base, alright cool and then for notifications, we're going to swipe right again, and then this is the back key press, the HOME key to view the apps cool and then almost there we're going to open the quick panel by swiping down. So that's gonna, be all these settings and whatnot and then touch the screen with your palm to turn it off. Just like that, that's it, and then you get a gigantic palm print on it all right. So let's go ahead and take a peek at what exactly is going on here. So again, if we swipe to the left, we're going to see notifications and then so.

This is just basically the Samsung notification that I signed in press the back button to get out of there all right and then let's go and take a look at the watch faces really quick. So if we do that, we have the future is what they call that one pi twirl breathe. That's a really pretty one actually activity sparkles pop analog peak time, Solar board a day, health dashboard, my photo plus just a regular dashboard and then large roaming clock. And then you can go to the Galaxy store to get some more, so I liked this health dashboard. So let's go ahead and customize that really quick, swipe or tap the screen to customize aspects of your watch face cool, so you can do the color three different colors.

That looks like to choose from let's go with this one, and then it shows, let's see here, it looks like your steps, your battery percentage number workout minutes, and then you can actually just get straight to the workout screen. So let's go and check out the workout screen right now, all right, so here's going to be the workout profiles and I apologize. That the outdoor activity profiles, it's actually gonna, have the location, detective prompt every single time. We change that. So that's going to be kind of annoying, so anyways we're gonna start with running and then next is gonna.

Be walking, see that's what I'm talking about right there, and then we have cycling, hiking swimming, which is in the pool, and then we're going to have outdoor swimming as well. Then we have treadmill exercise, bike, circuit training, weight machines, other workouts and then more workouts. So let's check out those. So this is going to be very similar to the Galaxy watch as well as the gear sport before we're. Going to have very individualized, not even workouts, but actually just like one particular exercise.

So we're going to have arm curls arm extensions back extensions bench. Press you have a Burpee test, crunches deadlifts, elliptical trainer front raises: jumping jacks lat, pull-downs, lateral raises leg, curls, leg, extensions leg, press leg raises: we have lunges mountain climbers, Pilates plank pull-ups, push-ups, rowing machine, shoulder, presses, sit, ups, squats, step machine stretching and then yoga. So you can definitely tell they built in a lot of indoor gym, based workouts with the Galaxy watch active, although they still have walking running hiking cycling as well as outdoor swimming, which is actually pretty unique for a watch of this price range, at least, but let's go ahead and check out some of these widgets as well. So we have the daily activities board, more calories, workout, daily and move every hour. Click on that you have a nice little diagram right here.

It's going to have a little heart shape right there, which is kind of pretty. Then, as we go down, we have the activity with your calories. Workout minutes, move hourly, and then you're going to have your weekly data most likely, and then you can actually check your settings here. So you can actually set your targets for what type of or how much activity you want during the day. How many minutes are your workout, as well as your move hourly whether you're going to get notifications on that and then, when we back out of there, we have some app shortcuts and let's go and check out all the opposite.

I guess at this point and then this is where this interface was awesome with the rotating bezel, but since they ditch the rotating bezel and that's definitely just because of cost savings on this guy, it's going to be a little less convenient to use so Bixby Samsung health, galaxy store, there's gonna, be settings weather alarm. Calendar reminders would have music gallery Find My Phone Spotify as a world clock. So that's going to be the apps shortcuts right there and then here's going to be a little widgets Green for some quick access, workouts like running cycling swimming, and then you can actually add another one here. So let's go to add one: let's do I, don't know, let's do the exercise bike cool, so we just did that next, one that's going to have stress, and this is going to utilize. The heart rate sensor on the back of the watch right here and I.

Guess really quick note is that it looks similar to the heart rate sensor that is going to be on the galaxy watch as well as the gear sport before it. So I'm going to be curious to see how that's going to perform now. I'm, considering it is a nice lightweight watch, light weight, watches tend to get better heart rate performance just because they're not going to be jostling around the wrist a lot. So I'm curious to see if this is going to perform a little better than the Galaxy watch over the gear sport. So then we have your heart rate, widget weather, and then we can add some more widgets right here and then in terms of adding a widget I'm going to have shortcuts calendar music widget a reminder: caffeine, calories exercise, floors, climbed food, health, summary and then sleep, steps, water, weight management, there's actually a lot of stuff here.

So you can have your Spotify widget right here, weather and world clock. So let's go ahead and put it on, and then we can actually talk about it at the same time, so I think I have a hundred and ninety-five millimeters circumference wrist, and this is the small band that is on here right now and if it's, this is a just barely it actually fits just right. This is quite nice, I really like the clasp on here and again, that strap is really soft and comfortable I, really quite like it and then on the wrist. You can see that on my wrist um, it may be a little small. However, I generally wear a little larger watch, but this is a nice wearable watch right here so far, I'm impressed I really like the build quality of it.

The strap is really nice feeling and again for the features that it's actually touting at that $200 price tag. It's honestly an absolute steal. It does have GPS on board. Furthermore, it's got wrist base, heart rate and the GPS. By the way it's going to be all four flavors of GPS GLASS do as well as Galileo satellite support.

So that's going to be interesting and then, like I, said, the GPS acquisition from the Gear sport as well as the galaxy watch, left a bit to be desired and, as we already saw, the location was already detected inside. So that's not bad jury's still out on that and make sure to check out the full review for my findings on that one. But if this can actually perform, this is gonna, be one of the best GPS Smartwatch sports watch deals of 2019 and the display, just like the Galaxy watch as well as the Gear sport does not disappoint. It is super crispy I mean it's a 1.1 inch display and I think 360 by 360 pixels. Really nice I, don't necessarily miss the rotating bezel I, really like the rotating bezel on the galaxy watching the Gear sport, but then I think they actually did a good job translating this over and then in terms of a Smartwatch again at 200 bucks, that's kind of hard to beat, considering that the Ti zen interface I think it's actually pretty darn good I, really like interacting with the device, and then you're actually going to still get third-party apps from bigger names like Under, Armour, swim, comm, Edmond Spotify, which is kind of cool and golf Nazi, Pro and Strata.

So there you go a quick little walkthrough of the galaxy watch active from Samsung. So if this thing can actually perform, it's going to give watches like Navy back to 3v Raptor 3, music, Fitbit, ionic, Fitbit versa, light fit versa, as well as Apple Watch Series for an Apple Watch Series 3 and run for its money, so anyways, if you liked it, for you, give this video a thumbs up and also make sure to subscribe for the full, comprehensive review of the coffee watch. Active that's coming soon and, in the meantime, go have fun with your fitness, and we will see you in the next video you.
