Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Review: DeX, Keyboard, S Pen, and More!

So Samsung's new Galaxy Tab s6 is currently the best tablet on the market that packs a laptop like experience and a lot more in this video. We are going to be taking a closer look at what makes the Tab s 6 such a great device and, furthermore, why it should be your next tablet, so sit back subscribe and let's get started so starting off with price. The base model of the Tab s6, which packs 128 gigabytes of storage and 6 gigabytes of RAM comes in at $650, which includes a pen for free mm and depending on when you're watching this video, the keyboard cover is half off at Samsung com, Best, Buy and possibly elsewhere, for just 90 bucks be sure to check out the affiliate links in the description for the latest pricing information. Now, a quick tour of the device itself. We have a very thin tablet with your standard, aluminum body, a quad speaker, setup micro, SD card slot, your power and volume buttons and a type-c port. Now no headphone jack on the tab s6.

But if you just got a note, 10 or no 10, plus the type-c earbuds included with those will work perfectly fine with the tab and have pretty good sound quality as well as functioning volume controls the thin bezel tab houses, a ten and a half inch screen, which does sit a bit shorter than an 11-inch iPad Pro. It does have a skinnier look to it overall initially, but once you get into actually using the device, you won't even notice. It's now jumping right into usability, because it's what I'm most excited to talk to you guys about the combination of Samsung decks and the latest Snapdragon 855 processor, make this Tab A six an absolute dream for work, play work and play at the same time or literally anything you want to throw at it. The ability to use the device, as you would a laptop and a tablet at the same time, automatically makes this the best tablet. You can buy right now open as many applications as you want and have them all on the screen.

At the same time, minimize screens and open them back up instantly resize windows, with your finger immediately switch back to the trackpad for usage of the mouse, make use of that S Pen or any combination of all these. At the same time, the options are literally endless, and you can choose. However, you want to work and play. You can also link up your Samsung device to the tab, s6 to receive and send text messages and calls so that you don't need to be fumbling around with multiple devices at the same time now, if you've never used a tab device or Samsung decks before it is extremely simple and intuitive starting in the bottom left, you're able to look at all of your applications and search for the one you're looking for, if you can't see it right away the three lines next to this show all of your currently open applications. The circle to the right of this acts as a home button and minimizes.

All of your open windows on your screen. Taking you back to your home and the arrow sign simply takes you back a step, no matter what you're currently doing now the middle of the screen allows you to pin applications similar to a bar on Windows or an apple dock, and your currently open applications will also show a small dot above their icon. The notification button shows you all of your current notifications from your tablet and phone. If you have your phone synced up and the next arrow will show you all of your quick settings, which is very handy for adjusting your screen brightness quickly or other quick settings like Do, Not, Disturb and night mode. Next to this is an on-screen keyboard button for quick access to a keyboard.

If you need it all of this functionality paired up with the keyboard and trackpad and Mouse make this a super portable laptop. There is a whole other normal tablet mode on the s6, but our focus will remain on decks for this video. Now that keyboard and mouse I've been mentioning the keyboard book cover which essentially makes the device a laptop replacement, is actually two separate parts. The back cover and the keyboard portion, which also acts as the front cover now, starting with the back cover, something that isn't really specified, is that the cover is not held to the tablet by magnets. Nor is it held to the tablet by a sticky adhesive, but rather a vacuum like suction attaches this cover securely to the tablet and when I say securely, this is more secure than any magnet or sticky adhesive, as the cover can be dangled and shaken around like crazy and the tablet definitely isn't going anywhere.

Now. On the flip side, it is definitely more cumbersome to take this cover off compared to your standard magnetic cover, but personally I am keeping this back cover on the tab s6 because it serves as a stand for the tablet and also holds my S Pen from going anywhere. The opening flap allows for almost any angle of usage. You like and goes low enough to the point of being comfortable for jotting down, notes on the screen and even drawing it allows for great tabletop and lap usage. The flap also comes in handy for holding the device when using it.

As a tablet, especially when laying back and relaxing I found it nice to hold on to it rather than awkwardly cradling the device by the thin bezels now the S Pen holder on the other part of the back cover is implemented very well, providing easy access to the S Pen when you need it and if you're having a hard time, putting the S Pen away, just drop the S Pen in the slid of the cover and closing the cover back up, we'll click the pen back into place now for the keyboard portion. I am very excited about this, because this is an actual keyboard with real keys and as if that wasn't enough, there is a trackpad with clicking and mouse functionality as well. Here is a quick, sound bit of the trackpad and keyboard in action. Now the number keys are quite small. The backspace key is definitely too small for my liking and I do wish.

There was backlighting on these keys, but the keyboard is extremely enjoyable to use, and the typing experience is excellent. The trackpad and Mouse experience is also exactly what you'd expect from a mouse left and right-clicking ability to use gestures like scrolling through webpages and a satisfying click when pressed all in all this keyboard cover is a game changer for the Tab s 6 and brings out the best making it a laptop like experience in such a small and portable package with excellent battery life. Now about that battery, it is no joke. I am on my third day of heavy usage, meaning games played having countless windows open at once. Talking on the phone and responding to text messages, and literally all of my computing and playing for the last few days have been done on this device and just now on its third day, it needs to be charged back up for a super bright AMOLED display.

This is definitely getting the job done. For me, the s-pen, the pen itself has nothing to marvel over. To be honest, it feels very cheap and hollow, but the writing experience is good, and it does have a physical button which does come in handy sometimes for things like switching over to the eraser. When you need it with a double press and switching back to the pen with another double press, it has all the new air gestures, similar to the note, 10 and note 10 plus, but honestly I just skipped over these considering it is a free edition with a tablet. I am certainly pleased overall.

So to summarize this condense review of the Tab s 6, it is truly a phenomenal device. It provides a laptop like experience and also excels at being an amazing tablet at the same time, whether you're, using the touchscreen, S, Pen, trackpad, a mouse or any combination of these three. At the same time, navigation and general usage of the device is so simple for anyone of any age to pick up and use paired up with a gorgeous screen and excellent battery life. This definitely needs to be on your radar for your next device for work and play.
