Hey guys and gals Danny boy here, and today I have the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 and the Motorola edge, and what I want to do in this video is compare the builds on these phones kind of see how they stack up against each other. Now we know that uh here uh at the end of 2020 um, the note 20 full retail price is 999 dollars from Samsung and then the full retail price on the Motorola edge was originally 699 from Motorola. Now I have seen both of these phones on sale. I've seen 200 off on the note 20 I've seen actually 300 off on the Motorola edge, so these phones have gone on sale. I think there are better prices out there than the original full retail prices, but let's go ahead and just kind of compare these um, so note 20, we do have a flagship phone here. This is the entry-level note phone um go ahead and take off the case here.
This is a Samsung case. That's pretty nice case got a kickstand here um. But if we look here at the front of the phone now, I do have the black out there on let's go ahead and turn that off real quick, so that uh we don't have the blackout showing that kite camera cut out there. Okay, so now you can see, we've got this beautiful, edged display here. Um just looks really, really nice here, guys, nice modern looks expensive.
Do you have the camera cut out there in the center? I kind of wish it was off to one side. We do have a little bigger bezel here on the bottom, not sure why they don't get these where they don't have to have that kind of like an iPhone, but it is what it is um. If we look at the sides here we have nice, chrome, looking sides. Okay, we do have our sim tray there, no micro SD card slot. We have a microphone here on top, then we've got our single volume rocker, it's just one button and then our power button here and then looking at the bottom of the phone.
Of course, we got a microphone USB type c. The bottom firing speaker and the s pen with the s pen slot there, okay, so that's right there. Of course the secondary speaker is up here in the earpiece. You can, let's see if you can see that you really can't tell much um they've hidden it pretty well, but there is a secondary speaker there, okay, so turning the phone around here, we do have a plastic bag. So that's a little surprising on a 999 dollar phone.
We do have glass, it appears to be glass here around the camera modules or lenses. I guess um got led flasher, so triple camera setup microphone. There looks really modern, looks perfect got a little of Samsung branding right here. Okay, so even though this is a plastic bag, it feels good. It doesn't pick up fingerprints that well, which is good um, and it still retains wireless charging.
Okay, even though it is a plastic back, we do have wireless charging, so that's perfect, and we have ip68 dust and water resistance on this phone. Okay, so that's perfect! Basically, you know it's a flagship phone. Just they do have the plastic back now. One advantage to the plastic bag probably, is that it reduces the weight of the phone a little. Okay.
So that's good uh! Now I rock a case on my phone all the time. Okay, so I don't really care about the plastic bag. That really doesn't bother me as long as it's durable and doesn't start to fade, or you know have edge, wear or the paint wears off the edges or something like that. I'm perfectly fine with the plastic back as a matter of fact just sitting here. Looking at it, it looks like it would be metal, it doesn't look like it would be plastic, but this is the gray color.
I'm not exactly sure what this exact name is here, but it looks perfect guys, um, really like the build here on the Samsung, and I forgot to mention there is an in display fingerprint reader there so guys it's a good build despite the plastic back. I know some people didn't really care for that, but it's a good build here, guys, okay, so let's go ahead and have a look here at the Motorola edge okay. So, as the name tells us, this does have a curved uh display here, curved edges, okay and that's kind of the main- I don't know what you would call it the main feature of this phone. I guess edges on the curved edges on the display. Okay, it is a pretty good-looking modern design here, and it does look good, obviously having those edges kind of like that um we do have a hole, punch cut out for the camera, it's kind of hard to see with this wallpaper, but it is right here on the left side of the top of the phone right there.
Okay, so it looks perfect here, guys, um. Of course, the bottom bezel is a little more pronounced there. As on the note, 20. , okay, now these phones both have 6.7 inch displays. This is a 19 and a half by nine.
This is a 20 by nine okay. So a little shorter here on the Motorola edge, but not anything noticeable um, but it looks perfect. Okay, so looking at this side, no buttons or anything okay going to the top of the phone here, guys uh, we do have our microphone cut out. Now. This is the sim tray and micro SD card slot.
You do have a micro SD card slot here. The note 20 does not have that, and then we do have a volume rocker here, and then we do have our power button and the power button kind of has a green to it. There um, okay, and then you know we kind of go to the bottom of the phone here. The speakers actually on the right side on this phone got a microphone here, USB type c, and we do have a headphone jack, a three and a half millimeter headphone jack. That's nice to see here in 2020 like that, okay, so the sides here everything looks pretty premium.
Then we get to the back here, and we do have um it's a's! It's like a glass. Stick: it's like a plastic back that it's supposed to be look like glass. I think, but it's definitely plastic. It feels like plastic. We kind of got that uh aurora effect there going on.
Okay, should I turn the phone um. It almost looks like a dark blue, maybe purple um, going on here. If I turn it around um, do you have a what appears to be a quad camera? It's actually a triple camera. These are a sensor to you there I think at the bottom, so 64 megapixels there, okay led flash that's flat. We do have a little of intrusion there on the camera lenses, but not much at all.
You have some Motorola branding there, it's kind of hard to see uh, but you know it. I wish these rings around. The camera were like a silver metal. I believe they're plastic. They might be metal, but it doesn't look super premium here.
I kind of wish we had some nice silver metal rings around those cameras. Um. Now we don't have wireless charging here, guys uh, that's just not part of the package. Here you are stuck with corded charging on this phone and there is no IP rating uh. The phone is water, repellent it does have a water repellent coating, but it's no tip rated.
So you know, I don't know what you say about that. I would just basically say uh. You know it's not meant for to be around water. Okay. So, as far as you know, comparing these phones, then I think the note 20 has the superior feeling build for sure.
Um. Don't get me wrong. This is a good bit of build here, especially on the front and sides uh, the back. It kind of does look like a 699 dollar phone on the back um, whereas this phone, even though it is a plastic bag, still looks more like a thousand dollar phone, in my opinion, or at least getting close to that. But both of these builds are good.
I would say now we do have metal here on the bottom here and slightly on the sides and then metal on the top um. You know I would say I think the note 20 feels more premium, but they're. Both good builds um now Motorola did provide this case in the box. It's kind of a smoked clear case, so that's nice, and it does leave the edges open there. So that's good, but yeah.
I would definitely give the winner here to the note 20 between both of these phones, but I think either one you're going to be satisfied with the build quality, especially if you like these edges here. That's definitely a good feature of the Motorola edge. It just looks really sweet, but they both have their pluses, but obviously guys. I mean ip68 wireless charging here on the note 20. I think we got the better build going on so guys.
Those are my thoughts here on the builds between the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 and the Motorola edge, as always, if you're enjoying my videos be sure to subscribe to my channel and then, of course, hitting that thumbs up button helps as well guys, but for now peace out.
