Samsung Galaxy A52 5G Unboxing, Hands On & First Impressions!

Do you love Samsung, galaxy phones, but hate paying the high-end prices? The galaxy a525g just might be for you, let's check it out, how's it from grant here. Welcome back to the channel the Samsung mid-level, a5 a7 and more recently, the a50 and a70 series phones have really been giving Samsung's high-end series, phones a run for their money and the galaxy a52 5g really seems to be no exception. So, let's get into it. As you can see here, the box is pretty plain galaxy a525g on the side, and you can see it's a bit taller than the s21 boxes. So hopefully we actually get more than just the phone. There should be a charger and a charging cable at the bare minimum.

So let's go ahead and break open the box, as you can see there, the phone is resting on top and probably some paperwork on top here. So let's check that out, I was hoping for a case, but it doesn't really feel like there's anyone in here. You can see the sim tool right there as well and yeah. There is no case. We've just got our usual quick start guide, nighttime reading that kind of thing right there, so nothing too exciting there, the phone resting on top here- and this is the awesome black version.

As you can see here, it also comes in awesome, white, awesome, violet and awesome blue. I guess they just want to go with the awesome color theme instead of mystic or anything else, but I got the black model right here, as you can see. So of course, since the box was thicker, we do have more than just the phone. We have the type c charging cable right here, as well as a fast charging brick. I believe so.

You can see adaptive fast charging right there, and this is a 15 watt charging brick. So this is capable of, I believe, 25 watt charging, but they're only giving you a 15 watt charger in the box, but at least they gave you a charger this time- and this is the international version, I believe, is the UK version. So you can see the international plug right there. So I don't know if it's going to really work on us5g, definitely not in Verizon. I would assume, but let's go ahead and check out the phone put that to the side and let's go ahead and push this out.

If we can, there we go. There is the phone very nice matte black. It is plastic, but at this price point, that's not too bad right there. You can see the triple camera system right there, but let's go ahead and power it up, and we can cover off the specs just to get that out of the way. So it is powered by a snapdragon 750 g, six gigs of ram 128 gigs of storage.

There also is a configuration with eight gigs of ram and 256 gigs of storage, but that's not the one that I have right here. You've got a six and a half inch 1080p super AMOLED display with a 120 hertz, refresh rate, which is really nice gorilla, glass 5. If you really care about that, and of course we have a triple camera system here on the rear, quad camera system, you have a main 64 megapixel shooter, with f over one point aperture. But the main thing is that it's got optical image. Stabilization in this previous models in this price point have not had is, which really helps with low light performance stabilization and really helping to eliminate that shake.

So, hopefully, pictures and videos come out a little better in this one. You've got a 12 megapixel ultra-wide sensor, with 5 megapixel macro and depth sensors and a 32 megapixel front facing shooter. This has a 4 500 William hour battery and again capable of 25 watt fast charging, which Samsung claims 50 and 30 minutes, and there is no wireless or reverse wireless charging. So I'll go ahead and get this thing set up, and we'll come back and check out the phone, hey everyone, so I've got into the basic setup of the phone and let's go ahead and check it out. So let's go ahead and start out with the fingerprint scanner here so tap and unlocks not too bad.

Really, let's try that again, fingerprint scanner tap, probably gotta hold down a little longer. So it's not going to be super quick and responsive. If you just kind of hold it down enough, then it's going to unlock so again, not the fastest, but it will unlock. You just have to kind of hold your finger there longer than you probably normally would for some other phones, but it works there. You can test out face ID, so let's go ahead and see so again, not the fastest, but you can see it read and unlock.

So a lot of some of a lot of this is the animations. So you can see the face animation, and then you can kind of see the fingerprint animation, so not the fastest face ID or unlock, but it does work, and it's really not too bad. So this is the stock home screen settings that you're going to have out of the box. So the wallpaper settings everything grid settings. You can see the apps that comes pre-installed on this version.

At least you got some bloatware like Facebook Netflix, although I do like Netflix tic TOC comes on this one, and I think it just could depend on the variant of phone that you have so again. This is the international version. The UK version it'll probably vary by carrier by type of phone that, or you're getting if it's unlocked or whatever. But that's what's coming on my phone here we go ahead and see what we're running you can see the settings and everything. So let's go into the settings and see here we can see it's running one UI 3.1 and android 11 with the February security patch right now and if we go into software update, there is an update waiting. So you can see there.

Security has been improved along with new camera features, they added a fun mode and some other things I'm guessing. This is probably the march security patch. So that's good you're going to get that right out of the box there and go ahead and take a look at some home screen settings and maybe some wallpapers so typical Samsung software you can see here. I like to change my grid settings up to the most amount of space. You do that again.

Settings apps grid same thing and let's go ahead and see what other settings we have in here that we might want to change so swipe down for notification panels on by default, which is nice. So that's all good, and we can go ahead and check out some other settings and let's go ahead and go into battery and device care. Let's see memory, so you can see. I do have the six gigabyte version, 128 gigs of storage and, as you can see there, it had about 25 about 26 gigs eaten up out of the box. So again I didn't install in my own apps.

This is kind of what you're getting straight out of the box. There motion smoothness, so this is what's really nice. You get 120 hertz, refresh rate on the a52 5g version, which is really nice and that's actually comes at 120 hertz setting up a box. So that's perfect there again. It's a 1080p screen.

So no quad HD settings here and let's go ahead and check out some of the wallpapers that come by default off of this device. So let's go check out wallpapers here, and these are the pre-loaded wallpapers that you can see that come on this particular phone, so not a lot of selection, but not too bad right there. Let's go ahead and see wallpaper services. This is what I really like, though they have a dynamic, lock screen, so I can go ahead and select what I want. I like to use the landscapes so go ahead and download that what that's going to do is give you a random lost screen wallpaper.

Every time you unlock your phone, and they've got some really nice ones here so kind of similar to what Huawei Xiaomi have been doing. Samsung has that kind of dynamic, lock screen service here on the phone? To give you something really nice when you unlock your phone, so I do like this. I tend to turn it on, and I like to use landscapes, and so let's go ahead and check it out. So if I lock the phone unlock it, you can see there. If I lock it again, you can see another wallpaper randomly pop up, so they got some really nice ones, as you can see there so again in true Samsung fashion.

You've got a super AMOLED display. This is 6.5 inches, full HD, 1080p, 120 hertz. So again everything looks really nice and smooth and fluid. If you look at it here, really nice animations really smooth compared to the previous a51 model that had a 60hz refresh rate, a lower end processor. Everything is really nice fast and fluid out of the box here on the 852 5g.

Let's go ahead and check out the display by queuing up a video here. So let's play one of the more recent videos that I have here, and you can also check out the speakers at the same time, what's nice going to upscale to 4k now so again, pretty nice display, as you would expect, from a Samsung AMOLED display speakers actually quite loud as well. You get stereo speakers this time around. I believe the last model only had one bottom firing loudspeaker. It's a very nice super AMOLED display from Samsung that you would expect and really nice dual speaker setup here on the a525g and speaking of audio.

I didn't mention off the box, but this does have a headphone jack, so not being a flagship phone. I guess you get a headphone jack, so if you want to plug in your headphones you're going to get that here on the a525g. So now let's go ahead and check out my favorite part of every smartphone, which are the cameras, so the stock Samsung camera app if you're familiar with it, looks pretty much the same here and as you can see here, you can switch between the main lens, the ultra-wide angle lens and, of course you can punch into two times digital zoom there, since there's no telephoto lens. You also have your standard video mode. You've got that fancy single, take where it captures a bunch of different things at one time and kind of matches it up for you.

So that's a bit of a cool feature. That's on the a525g! You've got additional camera modes here, so you have your AR doodle pro mode panorama food, your night mode. It does have a macro mode here for your close-up shots portrait mode pro video, which is nice full control over your video as well super slo-mo, slow motion and hyper time-lapse. So a lot of different camera modes and features here on the a525g you can see here we can actually shoot in a full 64, megapixel mode, take advantage of all the pixels on that sensor. If you have perfect lighting conditions, you can grab a lot of detail there.

Let's check out the camera settings and of course you have the standard scene optimizer, which is pretty much like their AI mode to punch up the photos. I like to turn on shot suggestions. It kind of helps you frame photos if you're really not familiar with trying to get the right kind of framing and composition of your photos that can come in handy, save selfies. As previewed video stabilization, auto HDR. I like to turn on grid lines as well: no location tags, shooting methods, pretty standard settings to keep.

I like to keep these on, so it's a lot easier to move through and take shots, and you can go ahead and set a watermark if you want I'm not going to do that right now. So those are some settings there. Let's go to video and what's nice again, is that Samsung has the quick access to the resolution changes, so you don't have to go full into deep settings menu. You can quickly toggle between full HD 30 frames per second up to 60 frames per second, and this can shoot up to 4k 30 frames per second there. You also have a super steady mode, that's going to shoot in 1080p, but give you really super steady video.

If you want that stabilization for action, shots and whatnot, so pretty much standard for Samsung. I think here nothing too overly surprising and let's bring in an object here. Let's take a quick picture here, so let's go ahead and see the shutter speed and snap not too bad, pretty quick, actually shutter speed. As you can see there, there's the photo not too bad. Of course, I'm going to do a bunch of camera comparisons and tests.

So do let me know what you want to see this compared to and which phones you want to see those camera comparisons against, but again I'll really put the camera through the tests. But you know it's got some pretty decent features for this mid-level type of phone here and what's really nice again, is that the 64 megapixel main shooter does have optical image stabilization and that's something that a lot of phones in this category are missing and that can really help with your stabilization, but not just that with low light performance and everything. So I'm really expecting photos and videos to be a little better, especially if you've got kids, or you want quick action shots. The shutter speed seems to be pretty good here, not too slow and what is is going to help with. Is that shake as well? So if you have a fast shutter combine with is to help really stabilize, you really should be getting perfect, first shot and being able to capture those moments that you want all right.

So, let's wrap up this video with some quick comparisons again, some phones that you might be interested in seeing this up against. Maybe you want to upgrade from one of these phones, or they seem very similar to you, so the a51 from last year up against the a52 5g this year, so pretty much the same size, but you can see here they're both plastic, but this one was a lot more shiny, picked up a lot more fingerprints, but had this more rainbow kind of back to it, whereas this year's just that matte black still picks up its fair share of fingerprints though, but it's a lot more muted, I would say- and maybe the design, but that's kind of what that looks like here, and you've got the 871 5g UW. So this has the snapdragon 765 in the US here and does support Verizon's network. But it's a bigger brother and pretty much the size is the same against all other a71 versions. So just a little bigger same kind of design, all plastic with that kind of rainbow kind of back to it.

Shimmery back! That's pretty much what it looks like up against the newest. A525G you've got the s20 Fe, so this is going to be an interesting comparison. You've got the 865 processor in here, but it's about 500 550. Maybe now this is around 400 to 500, so kind of close and probably good comparison here might be a good camera comparison as well, but you can see here the size, the thickness, both kind of matte plastic back there as well. You've got this year's galaxy s21, so the baby version, not the plus or the ultra, also a plastic back phone a little smaller than this a52.

As you can see here, but both kind of matte plastic back with the similar kind of camera module set up there. You can see what that looks like from the sides and of course I have the Pixel 4a 5g. So pretty good comparison. I think here a little smaller than the a52 actually at 6.2 inches versus 6.5 inch display, but both matte plastic backs there. As you can see- and I think this would be another good comparison as well as its kind of the same, similar type of range of phones here so but just a quick comparison again, some of these other phones that probably do match up well against this a52 5g.

So that's going to wrap it up for my unboxing of the a525g here. So let me know in the comments what you think what cameras you want to see this compare it up against and any other questions or comments, I'll try to answer them in some future videos, and as always thanks for watching you.
