Samsung Galaxy A20 - Complete Review! (Metro by T-Mobile/MetroPCS)

Is, the Samsung Galaxy a 24 Metro by T-Mobile, a good phone to buy well in this video we're going to be talking about that. Follow me on Instagram at Kevin breeze TV. Please join the Kevin breeze tech community on Facebook to chat about budget smartphones, ask questions and help others hi everyone. This is Kevin here coming at you with my Samsung Galaxy, a 20 review for metro by T-Mobile. So this is the metro by T-Mobile variant of the phone it just came out about a week ago, and already it's one of the best devices that you could find in the metro by T-Mobile retail store. Now on this channel, I review both factory unlocked phones that you can use with any carrier at any time and phones that are locked to carriers such as this one.

Of course, there's also. The factory unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy, a 20 available, which you can find on Amazon, and I'll, be linking that in the video description, but I wanted to specifically get the Metro by T-Mobile version of the phone, because I know that there's a lot of people who are subscribed to this channel that are metro by T-Mobile customers in might want to go that route, because they're loyal to Metro by T-Mobile, and they want to take advantage of the really sweet promos that are offered at the carrier. Now, that's one of the best things about this phone is that you can really pick it up for dirt cheap and that's really. The only reason to buy a carrier branded phone over a factory unlocked phone is due to the amount of money that you'll be able to save. In addition to that, there is a summer promo going on at Metro by T-Mobile.

That will give you even more discounts on this phone, so there's never been a better time to buy a phone at Metro by T-Mobile than now. So what are the promos? So this phone has a retail price of ? $39.99, and you can buy the factory unlocked version of the device on Amazon for about the same amount of money. So you should definitely never pay the full ? $39.99 at your local Metro store because you're kind of playing yourself, because you could just go out and buy the factory unlocked version of the phone which will hold its value better, and we'll give you the ability, if you choose to you, to switch to other carriers with no problem at all. Now. The good news is: is that with the promo going on, if you're a current Metro by T-Mobile customer- and you want to upgrade your current device to the Samsung Galaxy, a 20, all you have to pay is $1709.99. Now, if you're creating a new line at Metro, you can actually get this phone for $79.99 and, if you're porting in from another carrier, let's say you're a sprint customer or a Boost, Mobile customer or an AT&T customer, and you port your number into Metro by T-Mobile. You can actually get this phone for free, so I recently had that with a friend of mine, who is a Verizon customer, and he's considering switching to Metro by T-Mobile and I told him that he should definitely do it and in addition to that, he'll be able to get a free, Samsung Galaxy, a 20, so whether you're upgrading trade-in a new line or porting in from another carrier.

You can save a lot of money by going with the Metro variant of the Samsung Galaxy, a 20. Now the device features a six point. Four inch display coming in 720p with the 19 and a half by nine aspect ratios. So the design of this phone of course features the teardrop notch up at the top. That's a design that we've seen a lot with Xiaomi and new Medici and other OEMs like that.

But we haven't seen this with Samsung up until this phone and the other a series phones have come out. So this is a very new design that Samsung is offering, but I'm personally, a big fan of it. I feel like it's the perfect compromise between having no notch and having one because of how small it is because you can see all of your different notification icons and your battery meter. Your data meter all that stuff, and you can see it all up in that top bar, and you're still able to have a very great screen to body ratio, because you do have the little notch on the top. So overall I really like this design.

The display itself actually looks really nice. It's really clear. It has great colors, however, I think 720p might have been a little too low for this display. I really would have liked to see it at 1080p, because don't me wrong, it's a nice display and I could certainly live and, like I said, I already recommended that my friend go get this phone. So if I'm recommending it to my own friends, then of course I'm recommending it to you guys as well, but you can see a little of pix elation on the display if you look very closely, but still for, like 99% of people out there, it's going to be totally fine, and I can definitely live with this.

If I was using this phone indefinitely, but of course, since I'm always reviewing different phones, I'm not doing that, but if you're considering getting this phone- and you want to get a phone with a good-looking display, and you're going to be happy with the Samsung Galaxy a 20. Another cool thing is the aspect ratio, so it does feature 19 and a half by 9. So it gives you a taller design here, but that's really the way things are heading because you're able to get a larger display, but still have it be small enough where you can hold it in your hand, because if it's still featuring a 16 by 9 display, and it was 6.4 inches in size, then it would be the size of like a little tablet. So going this route having this taller 19 1/2 by 9 aspect ratio is awesome. Now up top here, we've an 8 megapixel front facing camera and later on in the video, we're gonna, be talking about the photo and video quality from this phone, but spoiler alert.

It is perfect. I am very impressed with the photo and video quality from this phone. Now. The device features 32 gigabytes of internal storage, with micro, SD card expansion, up to 512 gigabytes, so 32, gigs of storage, isn't too bad, and I've installed several applications on here, so that has taken up some space. But after doing that and taking some test photos and videos, I have 13.6 and gigabytes of left over space, so the operating system and the Samsung skin, which I know all of you love, definitely takes up quite a bit of space here. So you are only getting probably around 15 gigabytes at the most of internal storage.

So, of course, you can expand the storage of the micro SD card, but nothing beats the good old-fashioned internal storage, so I feel, like that's still a decent amount and for most people that's gonna work, but it would have been nice to see this phone have 64 gigabytes of internal storage. Now, there's no wireless charging with this phone and on the back we do have a fingerprint sensor now, I feel like the fingerprint sensor is just a little too high, because naturally, my finger wants to rest right on the Samsung logo. It would be nice if that was a little lower easier to access, but the good news is that the fingerprint sensor is super quick, so I was able to unlock the device with no issues at all now. Also, on the back are the camera modules and again this device has awesome cameras. We have a 13 megapixel rear facing camera on the back and a secondary camera at five megapixels.

Now that secondary camera helps you with the both mode, so you're able to get a nice blurred background, which is similar to portrait mode, but you can also use that secondary camera as a wide-angle camera. So you can take really amazing and good-looking wide-angle photos. Of course, you won't be able to take those photos in the full 13 megapixels because it is 5 megapixels, but still it's great to see that we at least have a wide-angle option, and you'll see in a little that the photos taken with that camera are actually great. The device features 3 gigabytes of RAM, definitely would've been nice to see 4 gigs, but it does run very well even with 3, so I'm pretty happy with that, and it features the Enos 7 9 zero 4 processor running at 1.8 gigahertz. The processor on here is slightly different from the processor.

That's featured on the factory unlocked version of the phone I, don't remember off the top of my head. What that processor is, but it's like the 79 and then like two other numbers that are a little different at the end. I don't know the difference either between those processors. I just know that from a technical perspective, it's not the same exact processor, but that doesn't matter because this processor does a great job here. It runs very smoothly- and you can see here to that we do have big speed on this phone I'm.

Not even gonna, set it up, because I do not like Bigamy at all I'm, not a fan. It's their, useless and I. Don't use Siri either I, don't use Google Assistant I, don't use any of that stuff. So maybe you do, and if you do then here you go it's there for you, but I don't use any of that stuff. Personally, now video recording on this phone maxes out at 1080p at 30 frames per second, the device features a four thousand William hour internal battery, which is great you're gonna, get perfect battery life with this phone, especially considering that we have a 720p display.

That's one of the positives of having a 720p display is that it does conserve quite a bit of battery. So that's one of the benefits. Now the device runs Android 9pi. Of course, we have Samsung's they skin thick with two C's skin on here. So if you like, Samsung software, where you get the Galaxy store and Sam some notes and wearable stuff and all that stuff, then I guess you like this I personally, like stock Android, much more.

The software at least on here is very well optimized, so you are gonna, get a good experience. I had someone comment on my unboxing video that I am being overly biased by saying that I don't like Samsung software, and maybe that is the case, but I'm just saying my personal thoughts about it. I mean you really don't want a video right. It's go over the specs or eight I mean you kind of want me to go into my personal opinions about software, and things like that. Now the software does run smoothly.

So I can't really complain with that, but I do wish that this did have stock Android. We have other Samsung applications pre-installed here too, like Samsung health, Samsung members, smart things on what that is. We have Metro by T-Mobile software installed as well, and that's normal you're going to find that with any Metro phone, and we have, of course, all the Google essential applications pre-installed too so overall, not too much bloatware, especially for a Samsung phone. It's not like as soon as they connected to Wi-Fi and data, a bunch of junk started installing, because that didn't happen. So I am very grateful that this is about all the blow air that we do get with the phone because it definitely could be worse.

So those are the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy, a 24 Metro by T-Mobile. So let's go over the hardware now of the phone now I already kind of talked about the front quite a bit. We do have a little of a chin on the bottom, but overall I there you can screen to body ratio with that 6.4 inch display looks really great on the left side. Here we just have the slot for the micro SD card in SIM card on the right side. We have the power button, and we have the volume rocker.

There is no dedicated Bigamy button on this phone, which is bittersweet. It's sweet because I don't like Bigamy, but it's bitter, because I know that on some other Samsung phones such as the Galaxy S ten, you can remap the big speed button to activate any application that you would like on the phone. So I do in that sense kind of wish that there was a Bixby button just that I'd have that ability, but it is not here. Unfortunately, on the top of the phone. We just have the noise-cancelling microphone and on the bottom we have the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. We have the USB-C port, so it does have USB-C, really awesome, love USB, see we have the microphone, and we have the speaker.

So it is all plastic on the back side, but it feels like a premium plastic and I think it's kind of overrated, sometimes on these phones having glass in the back or having metal on the back, because most people use cases with their phones. So if you're doing that, then who cares what materials on the back so overall I think it looks good? It's a nice polished material here in the backside, I'm not aware of there being any other colors available for the Metro variant of the galaxy, a20 I'm, pretty sure it's only available in black. It might be wrong in that. I probably should look that up before making this video, but I went into my local Metro, store and I said that I wanted the galaxy a 20, and they gave it to me, and it was the black color, so maybe in the future we'll get other colors. Maybe there are other colors I, don't know of the top of my head.

Typing is perfect on here. It's super smooth, so that's a good thing because sometimes on budget phones, you don't get the best typing experience, but you definitely do on here look at how many videos I've made about the LG style before pretty crazy right. So let's play this one. You can put the videos up to 720p on here, so no 1080p, which makes sense because the display is only 720p. So you can also crop in if you want to get the full effect fill up the entire screen with the video and overall, this is a great phone for watching video content.

It actually has a perfect speaker too, which is another added bonus. Definitely liked that a lot now, if you're big into Instagram, then you're definitely going to like the Samsung Galaxy a 20, because it works really well. Instagram runs really smooth, so you're going to have a great experience there. You can also, of course, go up to the top watch your stories, so you can run through that definitely very smooth there. So great performance here you can swipe over.

You can take photos and videos, so hi everyone, its Kevin here, I'm taking a video with the Samsung Galaxy h1, and it takes very clear video of course. So it's a good phone for Instagram and on that note, follow me on Instagram at Kevin berries TV. Now, since this is the Metro by T-Mobile variant of the device, it did want to give you a look at the kind of speeds that you might expect to get. So, of course, the speeds are going to be different everywhere, but I'm going to run this speed test here, and before I was actually getting 30 megabits per second download now I'm getting around 13. So it's a little volatile, not the most consistent ever, but I believe that's the carrier itself, not the phone but still twelve.

Thirteen. That's not bad at all. It's way better than what I get with Circuit so and I have no problem with Circuit by the way, but this is definitely better than Circuit and the upload speed isn't bad at all either so good speeds overall, using metro by T-Mobile with the Samsung Galaxy a 20. Another great thing is that multitasking is super smooth. It's really easy to scroll around and use multitasking.

So that's great. The phone is definitely good for light. Gaming I definitely wouldn't get it to play. Anything too intense, but you're still going to have a decent experience with most games out there like candy, crush and temple run, of course, so for most people, you're going to have a fine experience running most of your favorite games. But if you're like some sort of really intense mobile gamer, then you might want to get a flagship phone instead, but you can see that things do work very well here.

This is an awesome phone for web browsing of course, you're. Getting that massive display, but also you're, getting a very nice and smooth experience. The experience here isn't as smooth as you might get with the Galaxy S 10, for example, but you're still getting to their useable web browsing experience on the phone here is the box that you're going to be getting with the Metro bytes mobile Samsung, Galaxy h20. It looks pretty stock on the front, but you'll see on the back here that it does say Metro by T-Mobile here. So it is the carrier box in the box you're getting this little get.

That has a bunch of great literature in there. So if you need some reading materials and there you go, you get the USB type-c, cable for charging and data transfer, and you get an adaptive fast charging wall adapter with Samsung branding. Now this device takes really great-looking photos and videos. I was able to go out to a local park, and I really took some great like for amiable photos that really look good, so I am super happy with the quality from this device. It's great for sunsets, it's great for bright conditions.

The selfies are even good on here, and it's able to focus up closely on different objects, so I'm really happy with the photos, of course, having that wide-angle lens is definitely useful as well and what's funny about that, is that it's one of those things that you don't really appreciate until you actually get a phone that has the wide-angle photo taking abilities because it really does take your photos to the next level. So I'm really happy with that on the galaxy 820 I'm glad they decided to include that feature with the phone and I think it's definitely worth it, because it looks perfect and works really well. You can also use the wide-angle in video mode as well, which is great, and the cameras on this device are definitely the best cameras that you can get from a phone at metro. They can get for free support in hi. Everyone, this is Kevin here coming at you with a test video from the Samsung Galaxy a 20.

This is the Metro by T-Mobile variant of the phone, and I'm taking this video in 1080p at 30 frames per second. This is with the main lens, not the Y angle, but right after this I'm going to do a test with wide-angle, no manual autofocus and video mode. But if you tap on the screen, it will focus it now we're doing a test. Video with the Y angle, definitely really cool to have this lens hi everyone. This is Kevin here, taking a front-facing video with the new Samsung Galaxy, a 24 Metro by T-Mobile.

So let me know what you think of the quality and, if you're big into vlogging, I'm sure you'll, definitely like the front-facing camera, but this phone is pretty affordable, I paid, $709.99 with the new line, and that is on a promo discount, but I'm sure. Whatever way you end up getting this phone you'll probably get a good deal, but anyway, let me know what you think of the front-facing quality. So overall do I recommend the Samsung Galaxy a 24 metro by T-Mobile, and the truth is, is that this device is an A+ and, of course, there's room for improvement, just like every smartphone out there, but for the price, this device is a major win and especially with those promos, because you can save some major cash, and normally I recommend going with factory unlocked phones, of course, like I mentioned earlier in the video. But with these promos you can get this device for super cheap, and it will be saving a lot of money over the factory unlocked version of it. So I definitely recommend going that route if you're, a loyal Metro by T-Mobile customer I'd like to give a shout-out to my local Metro by T-Mobile store, they did a great job taking care of me and making sure that is all set up and good to go with this phone.

So I'll continue to recommend friends and family and anyone else for that matter to that location. So I hope they keep up the great work. But this device is really this year style of. For you know. Last year, the LG style of 4 was kind of a dominant phone that Metro by T-Mobile carried, but it looks like this year.

The galaxy a 20 is that device. So if you are looking for a phone from Metro by T-Mobile, then this is the phone for you now. Let me know what you think of the galaxy, a 24 Metro by T-Mobile in the comments section below. If you have any further questions about it. Let me know as well and if you'd like me, to compare this to any specific phones, I love to know that too, but thanks so much for watching this video make sure to follow me on Instagram and Twitter at Kevin breeze TV, because Kevin breeze was taken, and I will see you in the next video.
