Redmi 9 vs Google Pixel 3a

I haven't reviewed many devices with MediaTek processors on this channel, but now I finally got hold of a Redmi 9, which comes with a MediaTek hello g80 processor, and I've done a test on it, and I'm going to compare it today with the Pixel 3a, which comes with the snapdragon 670, so which one do you think is going to win. Well, let's find out. So we have the Redmi 9 with the MediaTek hello g80 processor. On the left-hand side we have the Pixel 3a with the snapdragon 670. On the right hand, side the Redmi 9 is a budget device from 2020, the pixel 3, of course, Google's mid-range slash budget device from 2019. You will notice on the left-hand side the little box that keeps coming up toward the top of the screen, because I added every single part of speed test g to the game, boosting system that comes with the Redmi 9, because otherwise the performance is significantly changed because they are preferring battery life over performance and as we're saying that now the Pixel 3a is into the compression test, while the Redmi 9 is now also into the compression test, but a bit of a lead being held by the Pixel 3a at the moment.

Let's talk about the difference between these two CPUs, while we're going along here. Of course, they both have two cortex a75 cores and they both have six cortex a55 cores. So these are fairly old processor, core designs, but good for the budget or mid-range segment. Of course, when it comes to the GPU, things will be a little different and, of course, we've got Mali on the Redmi, and we've got arena on the pixel, and we'll talk more about that later, as we get into the test, concentrate on GPU as we're saying that we're both now into the 16 thread test the lead still being maintained slightly by the Pixel 3a, it's going to get to the end of this test. First, yes, it is there.

It is it's now into the blur test which caused the beginning of the mix. CPU GPU part of this test, as the Redmi 9, has now also gone into the blur test, which is, as the same part of the mixed CPU GPU. Of course, coming up in a few moments, we're going to see the smoke particle test and, as I'm saying that now, both of them are into the infinite scrolling list and after the come that smoke infrared test where we're going to see the 2d graphics. Now you mustn't confuse 2d graphics with 3d graphics, the way the GPU works. The way the display processor works is different.

The different paths different sets of performance values when you're doing 2d compared to 3d. So let's see 11 frames a second on the right hand, side 12 frames. Oh, that's a good sign, 12 frames, a second on the left hand, side for the MediaTek hello g80s. They both go almost side by side into beauty test. So let's see what kind of performance black screen for both of them quite a long time slightly longer on the hello g80 in the Redmi nine I think they're both now going through.

But yes, the MediaTek is performing much slower, while the uh snapdragon 670 is way off it's up to the castle. It will come down now to the water in a moment. Will the hello g80 find its feet? Will it get back up and carry on running? Let's see going over the trees, it's speeding up a little. It is speeding up a little, but not very much as it is now coming towards that castle, while the Pixel 3a is coming to the end of the run and will now go into the unreal test, but still a lot of lags there by the Redmi 9, the MediaTek hello g80. It's certainly not doing very well.

The 670 is now into the forest test. Part of the unreal test is gonna, go to the end of the path, and then we'll have the final time as the Redmi. Nine is now also almost coming to the end of the unity test. There we go swing round to the right, and it will go down to the end of the channel and, let's see, as it goes now into the unreal test, the unreal test is now running on the Pixel 3a. On the right hand, side it will finish their only moment now.

Let's see what happens when it gets to the end, so at least they're both finishing the same test at the same time, so one starting one's coming to the end. What's the final difference, going to be? Oh, it doesn't. It is crawling a bit there, look at that snapdragon 670. It is perfect. Furthermore, it's like crawling on its arms and knees to get to the end.

There you go. Was it three minutes 41.4 and the clock is still ticking as we are seeing the Redmi 9 with the MediaTek hello g80 also go through the same unreal test. This detailed forest scene as it is going the same as I was saying for the Pixel 3a on it's our hands and knees dragging its way down very different performance. What we see on even a 700 series and certainly an 800 series processor in the snapdragon. Even we see better performance in the Enos processors as well.

Of course, they have the latest Mali GPUs and many more calls. The uh Helios got a Mali g52 mc2, so really not very powerful, and there we go four minutes 22 seconds. Okay, let's break down the scores and see what happened so as we saw, there are a convincing wins by the Pixel 3a 3 minutes 41.4 and then quite a while later the Redmi nine four minutes.22.0 we've got the CPU one minute, 25.2 versus one minute, 22.4, so a fairly close there, the win, of course, to the Pixel 3a, but both CPU cores doing a good job there. In fact, the table turns slightly when you get into the mix: CPU GPU 43.5 versus 44.8, so a win there for the Redmi Note when it comes to CPU mixed CPU GPU, not much between these two devices. However, the big difference here is in the GPU between the Arduino and the Mali in these two different processors, one minute 34.2 for the Pixel 3a 2 minutes 13.2 for the Redmi. So if you are into gaming at all, then it would be better to get maybe a device with a slightly better GPU.

However, if you are into social media and to productivity and, of course, ignoring other things like camera and battery life, then the Redmi nine looks like it can hold its own compared to other mid-range devices. So, overall the Pixel 3a won with three minutes 41.4. My name is Gary Simpson speediest j. I really hope you enjoyed this video. If you did, please do give it a thumbs up if you'd like to see more of this kind of videos.

Well, why not stick around by subscribing to the channel? Okay? That's it I'll see you in the next one.
