Redmagic 6R - Best Gaming Smartphone? 144Hz, Snapdragon 888 - New Powerful Gaming Beast!

What's up guys, high here from kick stake movies. Today I've got my hands on the Nubia red magic 6r. This is a brand-new gaming smartphone, it's the new racing edition and I will quote their tagline featherlight and lightning fast. So, yes, this is the slimmer and lighter version of the red magic. Six. It's lighter smaller.

You have upgraded cameras on both the front and the back with a few added and removed features to make up this special racing edition of the red, magic 6r and guess what guys it's actually cheaper in price than the standard red magic 6. So in this video you will see a very quick unboxing, and then I just want to highlight the main differences between both models. So we will do a red, magic, 6r versus red magic 6 and by the end of the video it should help you decide which gaming smartphone you should go for, and I also want to quickly compare the boxes. So here is the original red magic. Six and you can see you have a massive box.

You have exactly the same accessories, and you can see the slimmer and lighter red magic r. Has this small compact box, so here they are side by side. I will also put the specs up on the screen, so you guys can have a quick read now I have color coded all the text and the white text shows you what specs and features are the same, and the blue text shows you the differences. Now you can also see the price 509 pounds for the red magic 6 and the new red magic 6r will cost you 429 pounds. So, first build quality.

Both phones are made from a metal frame, and you have glass back both have gorilla glass protection. The main difference, apart from the obvious design change, is the thickness and weight so original red magic 6 is 9.7, millimeters thick, and it weighs 220 grams, whereas the new red magic 6r is only 7.8 millimeters in thickness, and you can see that side by side, and it weighs 186 grams. So yes, definitely much lighter slimmer than the original. Now, how did they achieve this level of slimness? Well, you have a slightly smaller battery, so 4 200 William hours supporting 30 watt fast charging compared to 5 000 William hours in the standard version. Also, you have the hybrid cooling system in both phones, so graphene chamber, liquid cooling, but the 6r.

The new model does not have the physical mini turbofan, which also contributes to the slimness of the 6r. So if I quickly show you've got two vents on the side and those vents are actually for the cooling fan. There is a small mini turbo cooling fan, which you can switch on and off in this phone, and I'll quickly actually show you that in action- and you can clearly hear that fan so when you're playing games it kicks in by itself, and it keeps the system running really cool. It's nice that you can manually switch it on anytime. You like this new phone, does not have those vents, it does not have that mini turbofan.

Instead, you have the hybrid cooling system, so you've got the graphene cooling chamber with the liquid cooling, with the metal layer and copper pipes, but this 6r just doesn't have that fan now. The original model has a 6.8-inch screen and the new model has a 6.67-inch screen so slightly smaller display, but the overall dimensions of the phone also seems a lot smaller, but the standard model supports 165 hertz, adaptive refresh rate and the new six-hour model supports 144, hertz, adaptive refresh so exactly the same resolution screens, but you're also getting a slightly higher brighter peak of 770 nits in the new 6-hour model. Now both phones will still give you that 360 hertz touch sampling rate, and you have the same.400 hertz shoulder trigger touch buttons. Now, let's just quickly compare the ports so original model in the bottom new model at the top. So you can see here the new model, first, sim card tray, USB, microphone and single speaker now.

The bottom phone, which is the original model, has the sim card tray microphone, USB c and single speaker. So exactly the same ports, but just mirrored out in the opposite way. On the side you can see, we have a dedicated gaming switch. So when you flick that switch that takes you to the dedicated gaming page now, the new model which is on top, does not have that dedicated gaming switch. Nor does it have the ventilation because there is no cooling fan and the volume rocker is also not on this side.

So there you can see the differences right there on the top, there's nothing, but a single microphone and antennas and on the original model you can see. You've got a headphone jack along with your microphone, so no headphone jack in the new model. And if we go to the side, you can see your 400hz triggers on both phones, and you can see the differences in the triggers they're, actually slightly smaller. In the new model. You've got your volume, rocker and power button and in the original model, you've got another vent for the fan and a power button, and both phones have an in-display fingerprint reader, and they feel exactly the same dual speakers, one at the bottom and one on the earpiece.

Now, if we talk about power and performance, both smartphones have exactly the same chipset, so we have the most powerful snapdragon 8 with arena 660 graphics. However, the ram configuration is slightly different, so the original model has 12 gigs of lpddr5 ram and the new 6r has 8 gigs of ram both have exactly the same 128 gigabytes, UFS, 3.1 storage, a very quick gaming test. Now, let's quickly see how you access the game space so on the original red magic 6, you flick the switch, and that gets you into your dedicated gaming space, and it also turns on the fan immediately, even before you load a game up now. If you just swipe in from the left you've got all your gaming functions, your gaming settings where you can play around with the options you can change the frame rate, or you can leave it on adaptive, and you can even turn the fan on and off, or you can set the brightness how you wish um you've got shoulder trigger and enhancements as well, but you can only do that as soon as the game starts, I'm going to turn the fan off right now, because it is a bit distracting. So fan is off now.

This is the new model, the 6r there is no switch to flick as such um. So if you want to get into the gaming space, what you're doing is swiping down from the top and over here you can see it says, game space tap that and that takes you into the red magic game space, not bad, there's no dedicated button, but if that's the trade-off of having a smaller thinner device, I'm actually! For that. I don't, I don't mind swiping down to access it. Now you can't just exit the gaming session by swiping um you're you're. Pretty much locked into the gaming space pressing the standby button and opening up again takes you straight back to your gaming space.

If to exit, you have two options: you can either swipe down from the top and press the same gaming button, and I'll do it and show you do you want to exit hit? Ok, so that's how you access the gaming space, I'm going to open it up again, so I'm going to try playing a game as I want to give you. My first experience. My first opinion on what I think of the slimmer triggers these triggers are much slimmer. So I want to give you my quick opinion: do they still work the same as the original being a lot slimmer, we're going to find out right now, so, let's load the game up. So cod mobile on the 6r here are the settings, so you've got very high graphics with a maximum frame rate.

If you try to select ultra frame rate, it will take you down to medium graphics, so I'm going to leave it on very high and max. If I just swipe in from the left, you can see it's set on 144 hertz, but I know that cod does not support 144hz gaming. So, let's quickly swipe tap shoulder triggers, it tells you how to set up, but I already know how, so we turn them on. First, the vibration feedback. That is, you can see the LNR triggers have appeared.

So as soon as this game starts, there we go, assign the triggers so right, trigger shoot and lift left trigger. I've got it on aim, that's it hit the cross and I can see that works. Okay, it works fine. Now, let's go and see in practical use. What these triggers are like.

They do seem a lot slimmer, but they work. I put the fps counter right there, so you can see we're getting around 59 to 60 frames per the second deployed no killer drone deployed now straight away. I can see the speakers in the wrong side on the other phone, the speakers at the top, so I tend to block it less now from here I tend to hold the phone like this, and I'm blocking it um. Furthermore, I can't turn the phone over because the triggers are on top, so I kind of wish that the speakers were not on the bottom side in this phone now the triggers are a lot slimmer um. They don't feel any different.

They actually feel good um. The phone is much lighter, of course, so yeah the gaming experience is good. The only thing straight away that I didn't like is the speaker location, speaker being at the bottom side. This is how I tend to hold the phone. I don't have any other way to hold the phone because the triggers are at the top, so I can't even switch it over.

You can see that the previous model had the speaker at the top, so when you're holding the phone, but you're not covering it as much you're holding the triggers like that, so the speaker doesn't get covered, while you're playing I'm finding that I'm getting muffled sound because I am proper covering the speaker. While I hold the phone like this and there's no way of holding the phone like this, so yeah, that's uh. One flaw: if you want to call it um, they should have thought about that design. So frame rate is good. The game plays really well just for a comparison, I'm going to play a round of Call of Duty on the original model, and I'm going to share my experience with you guys.

So, the last time I was playing with this phone. I had a medium graphics with ultra-high frame rate. I just want to put this on very high and leave it on max, and we're just going to play a game and see how it plays enemies very loud. Even if I cover the speakers they sound loud. You know what this is too loud for me to talk over it, but the frame rate is the same 58 to 61.

, oh and no they're, not bots. These are not bots down tango this guy. So from this very quick gaming comparison, I've learned that both phones offer exactly the same frame rate same performance of gaming. It looks and feels great triggers feel the same, even though they're slimmer um. I don't feel that they're better than the previous version, but I don't feel they're worse.

It does the same job. It gives you the same.400 hertz touch response, which is fast enough for you to be quicker than your opponent. There is a huge drawback in the speakers, the layout being at the bottom, but also the volume is considerably louder in the original model and in the original phone with those loudspeakers. Even if you accidentally block this side, this side is really loud too. So a much better audio experience from the original model that I can tell you straight away.

Um, I'm not saying the speakers are crap in this model. The speakers are perfect. The quality is there. It's still dual speakers. The volume is slightly lower and yes, you'll find yourself covering that bottom speaker and that's just going to be a natural reaction when you're playing games.

Now the cameras have been upgraded so from a triple camera. We now have a quad camera, but that's not all. Now the 64 megapixel primary on the original phone has now been upgraded to a 64, megapixel Sony IMAX 682. There is an extra lens as well so triple sensors versus quad sensors. You've got an extra 5, megapixel macro everything else.

Camera wise is the same now. The front cameras have also been upgraded, and you can see the layout is different as well. So the original model has a larger bezel on top, and you can see the camera hidden within that bezel is going all the way around, whereas the new model is a full screen display minimal bezels, you can still see them, but they're a lot less than the original model, and you have a hole, punch, centered camera that is actually a 16 megapixel front camera. The original model had an 8 megapixel front camera. So that's double the resolution for the front camera, which is always a good thing, and both phones support up to 8k video recording with the rear cameras.

Of course, I will give you a quick demo of the camera software at the camera app. So you can see it's exactly. The same. You've got camera family, which has all of your features, and there are a lot of features in this OS like clone macro phantom. There's a lot to play around with you've got pro mode.

You've got photo mode, you've got video mode night mode and then finally portrait exactly the same software in both cameras and there's nothing extra in either they're running the same OS, and here are a few sides by side. So standard photos, the new red magic six are on the left. The photos do look quite evenly matched both take equally good shots in various scenarios, and here is a front video comparison, both shooting in 1080p and for some reason I actually like the result of the original red magic 6 on the right. Now, let me know what you guys think, and here is some 4k video side by side both shot in 30 fps, but I feel that the red magic 6r's video footage is slightly brighter and, apart from that, you're getting quite similar results. So after using the new red magic 6r as my daily driver for the last few days, I spent a lot of that time.

Playing cod mobile. The triggers are an absolute treat for fps games. You can achieve a maximum of 91 frames per second in cod, and gameplay is super smooth with no issues at all. Now there are some games that can match the 145 hertz refresh rate and realm.3 is one of them and, as you can see, we are achieving a maximum of 145 frames per second. The game has never looked so smooth.

It's an absolute treat to be able to play games at this frame rate, also playing this game at maximum brightness maximum frame rate. I found that the battery life will last no longer than three to four hours max, and I also was pleased to see that the temperatures do not exceed above 42 degrees after a one hour, gaming session, so you're getting a pretty efficient cooling system and in the an tutu benchmark tests, both smartphones achieved a pretty decent 800k plus scores, making both smartphones rank within the top five most powerful performing smartphones. You can currently buy, and you can view the full versions of all my charts online free of charge at chigztech. com. Furthermore, I do like the new look and design build, quality is premium and the bonus is.

It's super slim and light, which means you can play games even longer without any hand strain. The only thing to look out for is the speaker location, which I've already mentioned in the video. But if you're going to use some Bluetooth earbuds, then that is not going to be an issue at all. Now the quad cameras offer more or less the same results as the original model, and that also includes 8k video recording the new red magic 6r is a good, cheaper option. Saving you around 80 pounds compared to the original red magic 6 offers a thinner and lighter experience, but without compromising on that power and performance, giving you exactly the same: chipset, yes, you're, getting a little less ram slightly smaller display, 145 hertz display, instead of 165, and you're limited to 30 watt fast charging instead of 66 watts.

Now the snapdragon 8, combined with red magic OS 4.0, gives you a pretty decent gaming experience and overall performance and even if you're, not a serious smartphone gamer. This is actually a great flagship smartphone for only 429 pounds. The specs' performance, cooling system display and camera performance ticks nearly all the boxes now. I would certainly call it a bang for your buck smartphone if you've got any questions, feel free to fire them at me in the comments. Meanwhile, thank you.

So much for watching, and I'll see you all in the next one peace. You.
