POCO X3 NFC vs Redmi 10X Pro - THE RIGHT CHOICE!

Hi guys it's Frankie from Frankie tech good to see you guys again, and I'm here today to do something a bit different. So, as you guys know, yesterday, I compared the Poco x3 NFC to the Redmi 10x pro and my whole comparison did center around going high refresh rate LCD versus hertz. AMOLED was the wrong choice for Xiaomi to make, and yet today, I'm going to do something completely different, and that is to actually take the counterpoint of this argument and explain to you guys the reasons why LCD is actually a better choice than AMOLED and why perhaps Xiaomi is actually making the right choice in choosing LCD for this Poco x3 NFC and any upcoming releases. Now before I start, I will preface by saying guys I still prefer AMOLED displays over LCD, but I do want to give a moment to those counterpoints and to those alternative opinions, because there must be some reason why Xiaomi is using these higher refresh rate displays in their recent phones. So, let's have a look so the first reason why LCD may be a better choice than AMOLED is screen resolution and sharpness and there's no denying that at full HD. Both of these displays are plenty sharp, but an lcd will always be sharper at this resolution, and you can even just tell looking at the text there that it is sharper on the Poco x3 NFC versus the Redmi 10x pro, and that is because lcds use a RGB pixel matrix when they are built versus the gentile matrix used on AMOLED displays, and so because of only having two sub pixels versus three sub pixels you're, always going to have a sharper display on a full HD lcd over a full HD AMOLED, and the second reason why a lot of people may prefer LCD over AMOLED, and this really, I think, is a personal preference, but it's still a valid one.

Is the cooler displays you tend to have on lcds? Now? As I mentioned yesterday, I, for one, prefer a warmer display on my phones and most of the AMOLED displays. I use tend to be quite a bit warmer than their LCD counterparts, but that being said, I know a bunch of you out. There actually prefer a cooler display and, of course, no denying that with Xiaomi's color scheme options, you can always adjust the display if you want it to be warmer on an LCD to cooler. Now that, for me, looks just way too cool. I personally think that that looks just right, but a lot of you will prefer this type of cooler look and for that an LCD will do a better job, and the next reason why Xiaomi may be preferring LCD over AMOLED is longevity.

Now granted I've had a number of AMOLED phones that I've used for a long period of time like the Moto X, 2013, the nexus 6, and even the iPhone 10, which is over three years old, and none of them have displayed any issues after years of use. But that being said, AMOLED displays do tend to have more issues when it comes to long-term use like screen burn-in. That can occur after a long period of time of having let's say icons in the same fixed spot and add to that. The manufacturing process of AMOLED is a bit more complicated, so you will see some higher quality control issues on AMOLED displays, like the OnePlus, 8 pros. Recent green tint issue that I had to address it's just more challenging to create a very uniform display when each individual pixel is lighting up and so for sure.

If you're using your phone for like five or six years, then you may be better off picking up an lcd. I for one and most tech geeks that I know switch phones all the time. But if you do value long-term longevity of your display LCD is probably the better choice and the other reason and honestly, I think this is probably the most valid reason of the ones I saw in the comments section. Was this talk of eye strain issues related to using AMOLED displays from both android and iPhones? I've been using AMOLED constantly, and I've never had these issues, but the reality is guys if you do have issues with eye strain related to AMOLED, and that's something that you actually experience, then I can't really discount that that is a valid reason why you may prefer LCD over AMOLED, and it could be related to the way that the display technology is used. It could be related to the refresh rate or how those pixels are reacting, but if there is a certain percentage of the population that is suffering from eye strain from AMOLED displays, then yeah.

I really can't discount the fact that, for those people, LCD is the better choice and the other benefit specifically to this polo. X3 NFC is that while they are using LCD, they are able to bring the cost down for these phones and yet still include a high refresh rate on a phone like this Poco x3 and don't get me wrong. I think 120 hertz on a phone like this does make a difference and on top of the 240 hertz touch sampling rate. This phone really is designed for gaming, and I think the gamers out there will appreciate having this type of technology in their phone. So just like gaming monitors, which are all LCD, they are using these higher refresh rates.

I think that's. The strategy Xiaomi is employing here with the Poco x3 NFC, and I can understand that as a valid argument, why you would prefer a high refresh rate LCD over a low refresh rate, AMOLED display, but last but not least, guys and probably the biggest reason why I think Xiaomi might be making the right choice with going with high refresh rate. CDs is because the average consumer doesn't care, and I have a great analogy to explain why this is the case. So when the iPhone 10 was released, my wife and I both switched over to it and here is her iPhone 10. She still kept hers.

I sold mine a long time ago, but she loved this phone used it for two years, and it was apple's first AMOLED display on the market. But then, two years later, the iPhone 11 was released and while I was dead set on getting the 11 pro max, she decided to go with this iPhone 11 which, as you know, uses a less than full HD IPS lcd, and I did ask her: do you notice that you're using an IPS lcd that the blacks aren't black, that it's not as contrast and then, in my opinion, it's just not as good and her response? I will never forget. It was not only do I not notice, but I don't care, and that is really, I think, the case with a lot of average consumers when they pick up a phone. They just want it to work and if it serves their needs, they are happy and in the case of this iPhone 11, it is an lcd. But it's an lcd done right.

You can see the viewing angles are very impressive, there's little to no light bleed on the edges and overall, even at 60 hertz, it's a fantastic display, and let's not forget that this is the best-selling phone of 2020 by a mile, and so I got to thinking if so few people cared that the iPhone 11 was an lcd. Then clearly, there is a lot of data out there. That shows that many consumers don't mind using an lcd over an AMOLED display and so really could be. That Xiaomi has data that we don't know about, and while a lot of us display, geeks and tech nerds do prefer AMOLED and would not be cut dead using an lcd. Most people don't fall into that category.

Now it could be that Xiaomi is market testing with these high refresh rate LCD phones, and we only have to wait till next week to see how the mi 10t pro arrives, with the highest refresh rate ever on a Xiaomi phone, but with, albeit an lcd. But if the reaction of most people is similar to what my wife's reaction was when she switched over to the iPhone 11, I think Xiaomi may be making the right choice here. Going with this high refresh rate lcd and overall, this might be the case of LCD- displays being good enough for most people in daily use, and so there you go guys the reasons why high refresh rate LCD might be the better choice over 60 hertz AMOLED displays. And of course I know where my preferences lie in AMOLED displays, but I can't discount the fact that there are different preferences out there like lcds, and it doesn't change the fact that this Poco x3 NFC is still one of the best budget phones that I've reviewed this year, and I can't wait to see what Xiaomi comes up with next, but hit me up in the comments. What are your thoughts on lcds and do you think any of these reasons are valid, why someone may prefer LCD over AMOLED or are you dead set on AMOLED display phones, like the Redmi 10x pro hit me up in the comments? I'd love to hear about it and that's it for this video, if you liked it give me that thumbs up and if you love the content of Frankie tech subscribe to the channel, hit the bell icon for future updates, the drilling never ends guys.

I may need to start filming even earlier, just to get around it, but anyways, thanks for watching guys and stay tuned for more great releases, great content here on Frankie tech. So that's it, and this is where I leave you by saying this is Frankie tech. Signing off have a good one. Yeah, probably going to have to start filming like at the crack of dawn, because these guys just never quit you.
