Poco F3 Unboxing and First Look

Hey guy sandy here so the original homophone f1 that launched two and a half years ago was one of the most hyped sort of budget import devices or phones even of that year, but that I could remember for quite some time I don't remember being there being as much hype about a budget phone as there is about the homophone f1 by Xiaomi. As I can, I mean almost by any phone there's just so much hype for this device and the hype was around. It came with a snapdragon 845 which at the time was the top-end chipset, normally in kind of 800 pound devices, and it was being released at 250 pounds. So there were masses of hype around how is Xiaomi doing this um, and obviously they've kind of maintained that to an extent in various different budget devices. But in most cases it has been more budget hardware, that's kind of mashed up still great value. Amazing value performs amazingly well, but never sticking that top-end chipset in there um and the f3.

It doesn't have the snapdragon 88, which would be the equivalent right now. That is the most recent top-end chipset um, but it has a 875g which biologics is a new chipset of a sort of kind of top end, but reading a little about it. It sounds more like it's a bit of a copy of last year's top end, which people said well, there's no bad thing. Last year's top end was still very good, obviously, but I suppose I'm just saying it's not quite the same as that original homophone f1, but we're here today to find out. You know how good is it.

I'd also thrown at this point that I kind of got caught out a bit by Xiaomi, so when they release new devices, it's not always that they come to the UK straight away. So when I saw the f3 was coming, I thought well, I need to. I need to check this phone out. It's done the f, the original f1 or the f2 pro now the f3 is coming, so I ordered it from gear best. I think, and I've waited like six weeks for it to come and in that time they've put it on the UK website and I could have just ordered off the UK website um, and it's even 20 cheaper on there than I've paid off from giver.

So it is on me. com for 299 for the six gig version um, but anyway. So today is just the unboxing there's not massive. You know, there's not so much opinion. I will have a bit of a play and tell you some first thoughts, but please do make sure you subscribe, because that's where more content on the device will appear over the coming week, but anyway, let's get on with unboxing and taking a quick look at the f3.

So let's go ahead and uh it's a fairly sort of normal standard, Xiaomi box these days. I think they do quite well in uh providing a reasonably good unboxing experience, they're, normally sort of quite good quality boxes and such- and this actually looks very similar, I think, to the original f1. I can't what the f2 box look like. Oh, welcome to the Paco family, interesting or not. So there is the device, so it comes in black, deep ocean, blue or in this case white we've got oh what's: what's, we've got, there's our stickers.

What is that yeah? So we've got some Poco stickers. We've got a manual. I don't know what this is on a headphone adapter and a case which is fairly normal for Xiaomi devices to include a case which is actually quite appreciated. So there is the white with the camera array, let's just finish off. What's so again buy it from the UK, and you'll, you'll not need the adapters and things um.

Well, there's a thousand so snapdragon 870 with 5g, it's 120 hertz 6.67 in OLED, and it is in fact uh 2400 by 1080. So that's a 20 by nine screen ratio, and it's about 395 pixels per inch, Dolby Atmos, dual speakers and a high resolution.48 megapixel triple camera. So still, although it's not the top end chip said it's still got some reasonably impressive specifications and much like I think it was the uh the note 10 the Redmi Note.10, it's got quite a big. I mean not as big almost like a dual camera bump: there's that's an actual bump there look and then, and then the actual lenses. I guess, while we're looking I'll just mention the camera, so it's a 48, megapixel, regular, wide angle, f, 1.8, which isn't bad, and then we've got a 8 megapixel ultra-wide and a 5 megapixel macro lenses. Furthermore, I'm not really bothered by that can be kind of fun.

Furthermore, I suppose so it's quite a nice design. Furthermore, I think it looks okay, there's nothing, sort of overly special, but quite nice, all in all uh power button volume, rocker above, and I believe the fingerprint sensor in the power button. So it's much the same size as the f2 pro is slightly thinner, though at 7.8 millimeters, which I'm in favor of that's that's good, and I think I've not run it down, but I think it's 195 grams. It doesn't feel overly heavy, nothing more than you might expect for a device of this size. I guess let's get it booting up um.

So I guess those are the speakers on the top of the stereo speakers on the top and obviously down there at the bottom, got the sim tray type c connector software rises. It should be running mini 12, which is based on android 11. And meanwhile, these days, actually quite a nice operating system. It started off, go back probably to the original pocket phone f1. It was a bit of a hindrance.

There was a reason not to buy the device, but these days actually mini is quite nice. Obviously that comes with g board, um anything else to point out, so I guess the other hardware specs I've mentioned the snapdragon 870. It's got an optical processor. It's got the arena 650 GPU, which is actually the same oscillator's f2 approach a little. I'm not sure what the most recent arena is to be.

I've not done many phone reviews uh in this last sort of half years. You probably might be aware this one is a six gigabyte with 128 gigs of storage, but you can get. You can get eight gigs of ram with 256. It has UFS 3.1 file system, which should be quite quick. Uh we've been through the screen.

I think I molded 120 120 megahertz hr, 10, plus glass 5. I've been through the cameras uh then I suppose the only sort of final bit of high rise, the battery, which is a lip non-removable, 4 520 William hours. It does do fast, charging of 33 watts um. It says it will charge to full from nothing in 52 minutes it just power, delivery, 3.0 and quick charge.3 plus. So I like that it's got the standard user standards, the power delivery standard, for example, because I don't, I prefer to leave the charges in the box and I just use the power delivery charges that I've got.

So that's good, um, okay, so at this point, I'll um I'll get a few things installed and set up and logged in and connected to Wi-Fi and all kind of thing, and then we'll come back to take a bit of a first look at things. Be right back, so I've got a few things installed. Got it updated. Fingerprint sensor seems quite reliable, as you can see there. What I have noticed, the power button is quite flush along the side.

So sometimes, when there's a thumb fingerprint sensor, the power button is like on a recess or just something. So you can, you don't miss it really, and I do find a little that I'm kind of like just sort of reaching and hoping I hit the right place. I mean so far. I am doing it's fine because it is in the right place, and it's quite a natural position for it to be, and it seems quick enough and rob enough. So it's fine just wondered or almost expected a bit of a recess where the power button would be so run.

Geek bench five, as you can see, it's got 2557, which is pretty respectable. That's in the uh sort of areas of the Realme 2x pro the Huawei nova 5t, it's above my pixel 4, it's in the region of the OnePlus 7 pro. So it's an it's a respectable enough score that that chipset seems to be pretty good um. I haven't really used it a lot, and it seems smooth enough, but obviously I'll use more in the next week or so um, and you know I will give much more detail in the actual review. Having a quick look at a few things at this point.

Um let's go into, for example, the screen not sure what that is. That's not google now, so that's, obviously something that Xiaomi's done, but I like just things like you know the swipe up. I like the sort of, so that's quite stock. Looking. We have got this sideswipe to bring up meter to check the speakers um.

What else do I got? I don't know, maybe that's it, but yeah, so we'll go. This is just the unboxing generally. The screen looks quite good. The speakers interesting. Let's go to a podcast today, it's new chip day intel unveils its 11th gen core tiger lake h, 10, nanometer chips, big chip, news day once again, because first intel has unveiled its 11th gen core tiger lake h.

So it actually sounds really loud. I can feel the phone itself kind of vibrating with the speakers, but the speakers on first I mean, I think, there's a little of distortion, I'm at full volume. Obviously, and I can just drop it down a little because, to be honest, it does seem quite loud now. One thing I've not done is checked the camera. Let's bring in, let's bring in Deadpool.

So again the shutter seems. Quite you just fell off the back. The shutter seems quite fast, which is a good start um another quick at a quick look, the images they look. Okay, it's maybe the red doesn't pop as much as I might have expected. So in fact, I've just dashed outside I've realized it's really nice sunny day and I didn't go outside and take the camera.

So I've just dashed outside taking a few different photos and all in all- and it looks okay looks I bought a bordering quite good um. I tried a quick selfie in it that looked quite good. That sometimes can be a bit weak. The ultra-wide angle was maybe slightly over over saturated, but we'll see, but generally it seemed. Okay, we'll see I'm obviously, obviously I'm going to use the camera a lot more over the next few days, um, and I'll comment on it in much more detail in the final review early impressions, though I mean I think the screen is actually really nice.

One thing when I was looking at the photos you realize how sort of bright and vivid the screen looks, but yeah you realize how bright and vivid the screen is really nice um. It seems plenty fast enough. Mini, like I say, is actually quite a nice experience these days. Um I've got it on dark mode, as you can see, which generally it's kind of a self done. I don't know what to call it.

I've done some dark mode, but yeah mini. Generally, it's quite nice. These days the camera seems. Okay, the speakers seem pretty good, so, so far seems to be quite a nice. You know I like the design of it.

Build quality is good yeah. There seems to be a lot of positives with it at the moment, but, as I say, this is just a first look. I'm going to use it kind of well as my main device for the next four five six days, and then I'll do I mean I'll, probably make some other videos I'll put some uh video quality videos up, and I might test it against the Redmi Note, 10 and stuff like that um so do subscribe. If you haven't already to make sure you don't miss all the other content, if you've got any questions, please let me know in the comments down below. I do read them all, and I answer where appropriate um please consider contributing I've bought this myself.

I buy all my devices myself. If more people contributed, I might buy more devices. Do more videos um so do consider that again, there are details in the video description of how you can do that through either Patreon or just buy me a coffee. If you want to do a one-off, quick donation, but that's it for now my name's Andy I'll catch you all again soon.
