Pixel 4a vs Pixel 4XL | Camera Comparison

Hi guys my name is arena and welcome back to my channel, where I review everything tech. I don't know about you guys, but ever since I got my Google Pixel 4a I've been curious to know, would I get exactly the same photos and videos with the Pixel 4a, as I would with my Pixel 4 XL? Would there be any difference between them? So in this video I want to talk about all the nuances and differences between the cameras of the Pixel 4a and the pixel 4 excel and let's get started. So when it comes to the camera specs of these phones, we have a dual camera on the Pixel 4 XL and a single camera on the Pixel 4a same 12.2 megapixels and same apertures of 1.7 on the main cameras. However, the pixel for Excel has the advantage of having this 16 megapixel telephoto camera and right away. Let's talk about what the lack of this telephoto camera means in their real world photography. When I talk about telephoto cameras, I always keep two things in mind.

The first one is portraits and the second one is zoomed photos, because oftentimes, the lack of the dedicated tile for the camera could negatively affect one of these aspects or even both of them, and let's start with the portrait mode when it comes to taking portraits. Unlike most of the other phones, the Pixel 4 XL uses its main camera for taking portraits despite having the towel for the camera, and it also uses its telephoto camera for the accurate depth recognition in the shot. But speaking of the final results and looking at these portraits, I honestly cannot say that one is better than the other. The white balance, the exposure and the separation from the background is amazing in both of these photos and when it comes to overall colors I'd, say they're, almost identical in these two shots also keep in mind guys that the Pixel 4a, as well as the pixel for Excel, uses the two time zoom in the portrait mode, making the backgrounds look more realistic and also reducing the possibility of distortion of body proportions. Since you don't have to get that close to the person when you take their portraits and a few more photos taken in the portrait mode for you guys and moving on to zoomed photos, so let's talk about the photos taken from far away when you start pinch zooming on the display of the pixel for Excel, it's automatically switching to the telephoto camera, while the Pixel 4a has to rely on the digital zoom of its main camera and if you've ever owned a pixel phone.

You already know that the super res zoom technology is incredible on the pixel phones. But when you get the super res and the telephoto camera, this thing is hard to beat so the pixel for Excel is so much better. When it comes to zoomed photos, you get much sharper, looking photos with this phone and also the maximum zoom on the pixel.4A is seven times, while the pixel for Excel can do it up to 8 times and a few more zoomed photos for you guys. Now, let's switch to the front cameras of these foams for a minute. We have 8 megapixel cameras on both of these phones.

However, I've noticed that the selfies from the Pixel 4 XL always come out sharper than the ones from the Pixel 4a, and these selfies were taken on different days. Both lenses were cleaned before taking all the shots, so that was quite surprising for me, and I've noticed that the colors always look slightly more vibrant in the selfies from the pixel 4xl. Also keep in mind guys that the front camera on the pixel 4xl has a wider field of view, so you can fit more details into a frame and when it comes to videos, we have a recurring pattern here. Since the videos from the pixel 4xl look sharper as well, you can clearly see the texture of my skin while it looks like it was retouched in the video from the Pixel 4a. By the way, as you can see, the stabilization is amazing.

On the both of these front cameras, the backgrounds look really still in these videos and now, let's test the sound quality and the video quality of these selfie cameras. So this is the sound from the Pixel 4 XL, and now I'm switching to the Pixel 4a. So this is the sound from the Pixel 4a. What do you think guys? And if you ask me, I think you still get pretty amazing selfies with the Pixel 4a, and this slight difference in sharpness is not a dealbreaker for me, but keep in mind guys if this is important for you switching back to the rear cameras and when it comes to random daylight photos, I don't think you will see much difference between them. Yes, there is a slight difference in colors in some of these photos, but overall they look almost identical to me and speaking of the daylight videos, we have pretty much the same situation.

Also. The video stabilization is perfect on the pixel 4xl, as well as on the Pixel 4a and honestly, I cannot say that one is better than the other when it comes to camera modes in the camera apps, the Pixel 4a has the same modes just like on the Pixel 4 XL, except for one, the playground mode where you could use different AR stickers. In your videos and photos, but other than that yeah with the Pixel 4a, you get everything in the camera, app that you would on the more expensive pixel for Excel. Next, let's look at some night photos taken in the night mode and in this area both phones produce really beautiful night shots. If we zoom into the photos, you will see they're, equally sharp and when it comes to exposure, I've noticed that oftentimes the night photos from the Pixel 4 XL look slightly brighter.

However, when it comes to night shots, I think the brighter the battery roll does not always work here to me, it's more about the balance, so it's not a good or a bad thing. It's just a little thing. I've noticed, and here are some night videos for you guys, and you can judge them for yourself. That's all for this video guys. As you could see, there is not a lot of differences between these cameras.

If you ask me, the only important difference that I would pay attention to is the difference between zoomed photos, but other than that when it comes to camera performance, I don't think you would sell yourself short if you went for the less expensive model, the Pixel 4a. I hope this video might help some of you who are on the fence at the moment, especially if your main concern is the difference between cameras, if you own any of these phones. Let me know about your experience. Thank you so much for watching this video guys and see you in the next one. You.
