Hey guys and gals Danny boy here, and today I have the OnePlus 8 pro and the topic of this video is going to be the battery on this phone battery performance. My experience all that good stuff uh, we do have the OnePlus 8 pro here in 2021. I just got it here just after the release of the OnePlus 9 and 9 pro actually picked up the 8 pro because they reduced the price 300 bucks on this particular model. This is the 256 gigs of storage, 12 gigabytes, ram model 699, you know perfect price here. We know this was a thousand dollars. Last year it was her flagship phone for one plus.
I always liked this blue color right. You have to love this ultramarine blue. Well, I picked it up, and I've been using it as my daily driver. Ever since at least six weeks. I think here now.
So what I want to talk about is the battery performance. Six weeks, I've had a good run with the battery and uh got to know it pretty well. So what is the size? We got a 4510 William hour battery 4510, okay, so pretty big battery they're kind of in the upper section there for batteries, it's not 35, it's not 4 000, 45 10. So I'd say that's pretty good! Um charging wise! Let's talk about charging here, really quick. We have corded charging, it does come with the charger and the box.
It's I think the 30 watt or the warp 30 t 30 watt charger. I want to say so: 30 watts uh get you a quick top off here with the cord, so it comes with a nice cord. The brick in the box definitely love that love the ability to quickly plug this thing in and kind of top it off if you're running a little low. I do that, especially when I'm traveling, you know plug it in 10, 20 minutes you can get a pretty good percentage there. I don't remember the exact numbers, but it's pretty, pretty good uh.
Maybe I don't. I don't want to say because I don't remember exactly, but we do know here on the OnePlus 8 pro that we did get wireless charging. OnePlus did introduce wireless charging on this phone. This was their first time going at the wireless charging. So we do have that capability here, standard affair here with wireless charging, unless you get their proprietary uh cradle, which enhances your wireless charging from the standard, whatever that is pretty slow to the 30 watt, so you can buy a charger from OnePlus it'll get you 30 watt wireless charging, so that's nice, but I don't want to pay the hefty price tag.
I don't remember exactly what the price is, but I think it's up there for that capability. I don't need that. The vast majority of the time I charge my phone while I'm asleep, so it can take all night charge. That's fine! You know it takes four hours three hours whatever to charge up, I'm cool with that wireless charging so going through all that we kind of understand where that stands. But let's talk about what my personal performance has been on this phone so, generally speaking, I'm off charge about 12 to 13 hours in a given day.
I would say my use is medium use about two to three hours of screen on time and what I found here with the OnePlus 8 pros. I generally have around 60 battery life left at the end of the day. Now I do rock the always on display. I do rock the phone in quad HD and I do rock it at 120, hertz refresher, so everything is maxed out 60 battery life at the end of the day, I would say: that's pretty good. Okay, that's definitely good, not the best.
I've ever seen, but definitely good. Definitely above average here to have 60 percent left at the end of the day is perfect for me because it means, if I forgot, to charge my phone- let's say overnight: it dropped in the morning. It was 50 percent that pretty much means I can get through a whole other day right with my same usage without charging the phone technically so basically, two day battery life. For me with this phone perfect here, definitely like that um comparing it to like the OnePlus 7 pro. I think that phone got a little better battery.
I want to say, like 65 70 right in there just a little better at the end of the day for me uh. But you know this does have the 120 hertz that phone had at 90 hertz. So you could look at that, and it didn't have the always-on display, so those two factors might bump it down now. If I know, drop this to 60 hertz took away the always-on display. It might definitely be back up where my 7 pro was for sure even better.
So that's definitely something to think about, but overall here guys good battery performance here on the 8 pro. I'm definitely happy. So let's go in here to the settings and see oh and then brightness. Let's talk about that real quick! I have it turned down for the sake of this video, but normally I have it right in here. You know kind of maybe 75 80 percent brightness.
The screen on this phone's a little dim I've found for my taste, so I have to kind of crank it a little. So that's something to keep in mind too um, but let's go and see what they give us battery settings wise. Okay, now I've been up since a long time. Today. I've been up since like 4 or 3 45 this morning.
So that's why my battery is lower than normal. But you know we've got battery saver mode here. I can turn it on uh. You know got turn on automatically. If I wanted to do that, based on your routine, based on percentage like you say.
Well, I want it to turn on at five percent, or I want it to turn on. You know trying to do this behind the camera yeah. You could switch that up, so I'll just say no schedule here. Um turn off one charge, you know, so we do have some settings kind of basic but kind of you know not the fanciest I've ever seen, optimized charging. I do that because might as well extend the battery life and the phone.
You know, I don't need instantaneous charging. Reverse wireless charging is available here, so you can charge another device. That's wireless charge capable using the back of this phone. I've never used that. I don't ever see me using that, except in an extreme emergency, say or my secondary smartphone needed a quick charge, um bedtime mode, okay, so sound reduction of the OnePlus warp charger charge.
Speed is slowed down, okay, so yeah um. I had that on schedule, so I guess, if you plugged it in uh would not charge as fast kind of help the health of the battery over time um. So you can kind of see what we got going on. You know kind of basic, but there are some options there, but uh, maybe not quite as fancy as like what Samsung offers in this department. But good I mean I'm happy with it gets the job done.
I'm not really going to complain here. So yeah guys. That's my experience. Those are my thoughts here with the OnePlus 8 pros battery. You know, I think overall, especially considering we have the always on display.
We have quad HD, we've got the 120 hertz refresh rate. We've got nice speakers on this one nice everything pretty much on this phone. I think we've got to consider that the battery performance is pretty good here. So those are my thoughts guys as always, if you're enjoying my videos be sure to subscribe to my channel and, of course, hitting that thumbs up button. There helps out as well, but for now guys peace out.
