NEW M1 iPad Pro 2021 - What’s Different THIS Year?! Worth the Upgrade?

So every year, apple unveils a new iPad and every year Tim Cook walks up on stage and says this is the new iPad Pro and usually the improvements are incremental. You know a more powerful processor, a better camera and a slightly better display. This year, though, things were a bit of different asides from Tim Cook's new physique, this guy's been hitting the gym. The improvements to the new iPad Pro are quite significant. Surprisingly, there are a few hardware updates and the raw power of the new m1 apple. Silicone chip is no joke.

So, let's find out what's different this year and whether you should consider picking up the m1 iPad Pro or, if you're, better off saving some money and going for an older model like the iPad Air, 4 or the 2020 iPad Pro variants, because they are on sale right now and going for as low as 5.99 I'll leave some links for you guys in the description below. So if you are interested make sure you go and check that out before we dive right into it. If you guys want to see more content related to the m1 iPad Pro, then do me a huge favor leave a like on this video and subscribe to the channel, because you guys already know once I get that iPad in my hands, I will be covering it very in depth and answering all of your questions. So after multiple website crashes and processing failures, I did manage to snag a m1 11-inch iPad Pro. I did want the 12.9 inch, but that sold out immediately and there is currently a worldwide ship shortage which is heavily impacting many tech companies. If you've noticed, a lot of new tech coming out has been hard to get, and this is because of the chip shortage.

So if you want to pick up one of these new iPads, you may be waiting quite some time, so pro-tip as they do become available, get on of asap, buy it first and then think later. So the 2021 iPad Pro includes some noticeable improvements. Whether you choose to upgrade or not depends on your personal workflow. The chastity of the iPad Pro has remained. The exact same apple continues to recycle its iPad Pro's design and, to be quite honest with you, there is nothing wrong with that.

I don't see realistically what design improvements apple can make. The iPad Pro is already a thin futuristic, looking tablet, so I'm perfectly content with apple keeping the body. Looking the exact same, the star of the show is the m1 chipset found in the new MacBook Pro and everyone raves about that laptop. So I expect the same performance now on the m1 iPad. Pro apple says the m1 chip offers 50 faster CPU performance and 40 faster GPU performance than last generation's a12 z, clip.

This is going to be amazing, for when apple decides to eventually give us pro apps like Final Cut Pro and Xcode, but for now a majority of you should be fine with the a12z found in the 2020 iPad Pro this year. The storage is also two times faster, with storage capacities up to two terabytes. If a majority of your workflow is done on an iPad, then you may want to consider the two terabyte option, but I personally think that's overkill, because this year a thunderbolt port is included on the m1 iPad, and I think this is huge for many reasons. A thunderbolt port is compelling for power users with big bandwidth needs, and now you can run all of your work off of an external hard drive, so paying the extra money for storage capacity seems like a waste of money to me, but the main reason why I'm so excited about a thunderbolt port is we may finally be able to hook up our iPads to an external monitor and get a full screen experience without having to use any third-party apps. Something you should know is with the one terabyte variant you get eight gigabytes of ram and with the two terabyte variant you get 16 gigabytes of ram.

I personally think all of this ram is overkill. I feel like eight gigabytes is more than enough for your workflow, even if it consists of editing 4k videos on apps such as suffusion, if you're wondering about accessory compatibility, don't worry as expected, the m1 iPads are compatible with accessories such as the second generation Apple Pencil and the older magic keyboard. One key accessory that I always recommend to my audience, no matter which iPad you have is a paper-like screen protector. These are reasonably priced, and a single purchase comes in a pack of two, and they do a perfect job of giving you that genuine feel that you really are writing on paper. Using an Apple Pencil feels slightly more enhanced with a paper-like screen protector on the strokes are a bit smoother and there is less wear and tear on the tip of your Apple Pencil, so yeah.

I definitely recommend a paper-like screen protector if you guys do purchase one. Let me know down in the comments below what you do. Think of it. A major new improvement this year is the m1 iPads pros display, but be very cautious here, because the 11-inch iPad Pro has the exact same display as the 2020 version. The real display improvement is found on the 12.9-inch m1 iPad Pro. This iPad is featuring a new liquid retina Dr display with mini led tech.

Essentially, this is the same display as the infamous five thousand dollar pro Dr display. If you are a professional creator or someone who just has to have the best display possible for viewing media and content, then I do suggest paying the extra hundred dollars and picking up a 12.9-inch m1 iPad Pro there's also a huge improvement. This year to the cameras. Both the rear and front-facing cameras have been updated. A majority of the changes are found within the new true depth front-facing.

Camera apple introduced a feature this year called center stage. This feature uses a larger field of view on the new front-facing camera and the machine learning capabilities of the m1 to recognize and keep users centered in its frame. So essentially, I can move around and the center stage feature automatically pans. The camera to keep me in frame and in the shot. This is a really neat feature that I can see a lot of people who do work from home, appreciate and take advantage of.

The batteries have remained unchanged on the m1 iPad Pro just like before we get the same 10 hours of screen on time, while surfing the web on Wi-Fi or watching video. In my experience, though, the iPad has always had excellent screen on time. I don't hear too many people complaining about their iPad's battery life and that's because these tablets are very battery efficient. If you were hoping for some more screen on time, you may be a little disappointed here comes the fun part and that's the price. Surprisingly, I feel like the m1 iPad pros are fairly priced.

Given all of these major improvements, the price of the 11-inch m1 iPad starts at 799 USD, which is, in fact the exact same price as the 2020 iPad Pro. So it's great to see apple, keep the price the same. If you want the cellular 5g on your iPad, that's going to cost you an extra 200, which is fifty dollars more than last year's variant. The m1 12.9-inch iPad Pro now starts at 10.99 USD that's a hundred dollars more than last year's 2020 iPad Pro. I still think this price hike is justified simply because we are getting that pro Dr display experience on a 12.9-inch iPad. This iPad Pro release, I believe, is significant in transitioning your iPad over as your main go to computer, you got the new m1 chip, a thunderbolt port and a professional grade display.

Now the only factor that's holding back. This iPad is iPadOS, hopefully towards the end of this year, with iPadOS 15. I hope to see some significant software improvements and, of course, the release of professional apps for iPad, so we can really harness and take advantage of all of this power given to us. So the question is: who is this iPad for? Well, if you are a power user- and you don't mind spending the additional money, this is definitely a worthy pickup. This is going to be an all-powerful tablet.

That is definitely future-proof for the upcoming pro apps, not to mention this worldwide ship shortage is going to make the m1 iPad really hard to get. I am planning on buying a tesla model 3 and the expected delivery dates are 8 to 12 weeks now here in Canada. So this chip shortage is no joke. So if you do want the new m1 iPads, I highly suggest you jump on an asap as soon as it becomes available. If you believe the m1 iPad is overkill for your needs, then do check out my other reviews on the iPad Air 4 and the iPad 8.

Those are two of my best performing videos on the channel, so definitely worth checking out. Hopefully, apple stays true to their promise delivery time, so I can get out some iPod content for you guys asap as always. Thank you so much for watching and don't forget to flex with your m1 tech.
