NEW Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro (AMD Ryzen 5 5600h) for 2021

Now, if you've been following my channel, you know I've been teasing a very special mystery laptop on the way to the studio, and it finally cleared customs yesterday, and it arrived into the studio today. I've been putting it through its paces ever since, ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, this is the Lenovo yoga slim 7, pro running the all-new AMD Ryzen 5008 series mobile processor, coming up all right. Let's check out the specs before we get into this. This is running the AMD, dozen, 5, 5600, h, mobile processor. All new here for 2021 also will be available with a dozen 7 and a dozen 9. Now this has 16 gigabytes of LP ddr4 x, ram running in dual channel mode, and it also has one terabyte of SSD storage.

It's PCIE, m.2, SSD storage. It has a 14 inch, 2.8 k display, and it really is beautiful. Let's get into it right now and with the specs out of the way, let's find out what you get inside the box, let's open it up now inside the box is a watt power adapter and a 15-minute charge is supposed to give you a two-hour run time. That's pretty good and by the way it's an USB adapter. Now this does have a 61 watt hour battery, and I'm hoping to get all the battery life as Lenovo's, claiming that it will get.

I will definitely check it out in my full review and let you know the numbers holding the unit for the first time, I'm blown away. How premium this all metal design is very rock solid in terms of the build at 3.2 pounds or 1.4 kilograms, definitely portable to take with you on the go. This looks really great. Now I have the slate gray color, but you could also get it in the light silver, but I'm really digging. This late gray gives off a nice, sleek and modern.

Look: okay, let's check out the port selection, we'll start off. On the left side, we get two USB ports, they're full function, ports, they're, USB 3.2, gen2, that deliver power, delivery, display port out and, of course, data. Moving over to the right side, you get one USB type, a port, it's USB 3.2 gen1 and one audio combo jack. That's it for the ports, there's no micro, SD card slot, no HDMI out. Those are some missing ports that I would have liked to have seen, but I'll take what they give you on this one and, of course, there's no thunderbolt 4 port on this, since there is no support with AMD processors when it comes to thunderbolt.

Now, as far as user upgradability is concerned, it's pretty easy to get inside this laptop. All you need to do is remove the t5 torn screws pop off the bottom plate, and you're in and once inside, you'll notice that it has two fans for cooling, I'll check out the thermal surface temperatures and all that in the full review. You'll also notice that it will have a 61 watt hour battery. I will test that as well and bring you the numbers again in that full review. Now, as far as what's user upgradable, you can upgrade the SSD, although you get some excellent reads and writes, as you can see from these results.

Now, as far as the ram is concerned, it uses LP ddr4 running in dual channel mode. You can get it with either eight or 16 gigabytes of ram. Now the ram is soldered into the motherboard. That means you won't be able to upgrade it yourself down the road. That's a bit unfortunate, but the Wi-Fi card is Wi-Fi six, and it is slotted in that means.

You can upgrade that yourself down the road, and it also has Bluetooth 5.0 and those are working really well. So far, no issues on those fronts now normally we're seeing pretty mediocre displays when they're paired with dozen processors. That's been pretty much the case with last year's dozen 4000 series that we saw. However, that's not the case with the slim 7 pro for this year. What we're seeing here is a really nice display.

It's a 14 inch 2.8 k display with a resolution of 28.80 by 1800. That means that it is a 16 to 10 aspect ratios, which I absolutely love. That means you're going to have to do less scrolling when it comes to web browsing, but it's also great for consuming media watching Netflix, Amazon and YouTube. It's also great for productivity work. It's got really deep, blacks, nice white points, good contrast, and it has a really low delta e score of 0.92, making this a very color accurate display. Furthermore, it also covers the color gamut extremely well: 100 percent RGB 79 adobe RGB 81 of the DCI, p3 wide color gamut and 73, and TSC making this an excellent choice for content creators that do Lightroom, photoshop and, of course, video editing.

Furthermore, it's got some really slim bezels, giving it a sleek and modern look. Now, if you notice on the top bezel, there's a slight reverse notch, that's where the webcam is well you're. Looking at the front-facing camera on the all-new Lenovo yoga slim7 pro here for 2021 running the dozen 5000 series, h processor, here again in 2021 and I have to say 720p 30 frames per second. Let me know how it looks. Let me know how it sounds in terms of doing your Zoom calls Skype calls and whatever video conferencing you need, you may have, if you're working from home and et cetera, et cetera again.

Let me know in that comment section below now that camera is also an infrared camera, meaning you can log in with face recognition with windows, hello. Now there is no fingerprint scanner on this laptop, so that would be your only means of logging in with windows, hello, and for those wondering you can't quite open it with one finger. It's just not designed that way. The hinge just won't support it. It's got a really sturdy hinge by the way.

Now, as far as the keyboard itself is concerned, a little shallow on the key travel, but it does have those smile shaped keys that we know and love on the yoga line from Lenovo, and it was pretty comfortable to type on, and it had good tactile feedback just a little shallow in terms of the key travel, not a big deal now it also has a backlit keyboard. That means you can get work done in a dark room or a dimly lit environment. It also has a precision touchpad. That's pretty nicely sized two-finger scrolling was buttery smooth. All the windows gestures work as advertised so far, so good.

So far, my initial testing with the AMD Ryzen 5 5600h, has been proving really, really good check out some of these initial benchmarks. The numbers are looking very, very good. Of course, I will do my full testing to bring you all the numbers in my full review. This is just a taste. Now there are two Dolby Atmos speakers.

There are downward firing speakers that actually are pretty loud, get a little of bass in it. It's actually been pretty good, filling up a room rather nicely uh, pleasantly surprised. So far, so good. Of course, you could always use wired headphones or Bluetooth headphones with this laptop. If you want an enhanced audio experience, but so far the speakers are pretty decent.

Okay. So far, so good initial impressions of the yoga slim 7 pro here for 2021 amazing, I'm loving it so far, especially that really strong performance we're seeing with that dozen 5, 5600 h, of course, I'll bring you more numbers in the full review, but I really love its bright 14-inch display it's a 2.8 k display. It's really, really nice, and I like that 16 to 10 aspect ratios that it brings a great again great productivity machine, great for consuming media. I, like the quiet fans during heavy load, so far premium build sturdy hinge. You can expect all-day battery life with that 61 watt hour battery.

It's looking good so far, backlit keyboard a little on the shallow side, but good nonetheless, and it really has a responsive touchpad no dealbreakers here so far. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to put it through its paces and I will bring you my full review, but so far this thing is pretty amazing. So please hit the like button. Please subscribe!
