Motorola Edge - Mics & Speakers (Review)

Hey guys and gals Danny boy here, and today I have the Motorola edge and what I want to go over in this video is look at the microphones on this phone and then, let's look at the speaker, setup um. So I've had this phone for uh about three weeks now I've been using it as my daily driver, so I've become pretty familiar with the phone and- and you know using it pretty intensely here, the last three weeks or so. So, let's go ahead and jump into this. Let's talk about the microphones first. So if we look at the phone here, you know we can see here on the top. We do have a microphone there, nothing on the left side and then right side, I'm not seeing anything uh here on the bottom of the phone.

We also have a microphone there next to the speaker and USB type c and uh. Let's look at the back here. I'm not seeing a microphone anywhere here, but there could be another one hidden somewhere on here, but at least two microphones that I've identified there. So let's go ahead and do an audio recording, and then I can kind of see how the audio sounds from the microphones okay. So I got my voice recording app here, um and let's go ahead and uh have a record here and then have a listen, hey guys, anybody here, okay! So let's play this back and see how it sounds here make sure the speakers are fully up.

There hang on a second okay, hey guys, Danny boy here, okay I'll get it a little closer to the phone here, hey guys, Danny boy here, okay, so you could kind of hear there. It's pretty good, uh, sound and voice quality there for sure you know pretty standard. I've not had any trouble with phone calls or anything like that and using this phone now, let me pull up a video, and we can see how the audio sounds in the video from the mics okay. This is a video I shot at a local park here, and the volume is all the way up. So, let's have a listen, so, okay, so as you could hear they're pretty standard of fair here, guys um, you know it sounded perfect.

The background audio sounded rich sounded perfectly fine uh. You know it's pretty standard to what I see on my other smartphones, okay, so uh having gone over the microphones, let's go over the speaker setup on the Motorola edge here now. So basically we do have a dual speaker setup, and it's as you would expect on the bottom of the phone. You have your bottom firing speaker, okay, and then you do have a secondary speaker up here in the earpiece, and these speakers get really loud and the sound is pretty rich uh. As a matter of fact, among my phones that I have right now, this might have the best stool speaker set up and that's comparing it um with you know my OnePlus 7t, my Samsung Galaxy s10e, okay, my iPhone 10s max, I think, between those phones.

Anyway. The speaker setup here is better arguably on the Motorola edge. So let me um launch a sound clip, and we will test out how the speakers sound here. Okay, so I got my radio show pulled up here and the volume is on maximum. I use royalty free music.

So let's go ahead and have a listen to see how this sounds. So you could see there, it's really nice and rich and loud. Okay, so perfect speaker set up here guys. Let's do that again? Okay, so I am very, very happy with these speakers. I mean this phone call 700.

, so you kind of expect the speakers to be at least somewhat good, obviously for 700 bucks, but I would say, with the Motorola edge here we have a pair of flagship speakers here that you would find on a thousand dollars or more phone here. So definitely good uh speaker set up. So what else can we talk about in regard to audio well by going to the settings here, we can see that we do have um, and this is a really nice software feature here. If we go to motor audio, we can just tell the phone how we want our sound to sound. So I keep mine on movie uh, 24 7, just because I found that the sound is best for me there.

I watch a lot of YouTube videos, and it just sounds good overall, no matter what I'm listening to you can do, music, or you can do game there, so it's optimized for each of those categories there, and you can set that. However, you want now, if we click like on this little edit button, it'll kind of show us where it's coming from here in the movie mode, so you can see what it has decided here. The settings should be okay, so um perfect here guys. I really like that. Motorola gives you this customization uh, not a lot of phones.

Do this, where they let you customize or equalize your audio. So this is really, really good. Okay and then, finally, just top everything off uh Motorola did include a headphone jack on this phone, as you might have seen when we were looking at the microphones. We do have a headphone jack here on the bottom next to the USB type c, and I definitely love that um. You know, I think a lot of us still have uh stuff, that we use the headphone jack for whether that's hooking this up to your stereo system or hooking it up to some old wired headphones, or perhaps you got a pair of expensive wired headphones regardless it's nice to have that headphone jack there.

Okay, so definite bonus here with the Motorola edge uh, really all around with this phone, whether we consider the microphones, the speakers, the software implementation or the headphone jack. We have a good audio set up here on the Motorola edge. I'm definitely impressed with this phone in this area. This might be one of this phone's strongest points, actually so definite um definitely happy here with the Motorola edge, so guys. Those are my thoughts on the audio capabilities, as always, if you're enjoying my videos be sure to subscribe to my channel, then of course hitting that thumbs up button helps as well, but for now guys peace out.
