LG K51 vs Samsung Galaxy A20 - Who Will Win?

Which is better the LGA 51, where the Samsung Galaxy h1 II will, in this video, we're going to find out hi everyone. This is Kevin here and welcome to my comparison between the LGA 51 in the Samsung Galaxy h, 1e. These are both two very popular budget devices, with the LG k, 51 being 30 new to the market in the Samsung Galaxy, a 20 being out for almost a year. Now, with the success of the h1 II, since it was launched, I figured, it would be fascinating to put it up against one of the latest offerings from LG, which is the K 51 now I do want to let you know that I have the brightness set at 100% on both devices. To give you an idea of what the displays are capable of, so I want to make that clear, but the LG K 51 is currently being offered at Boost Mobile for $89.99 I've heard the phone is going to be launched at Metro by T-Mobile very shortly as well, and I'm. Guessing they'll make its way over to even more carriers and possibly even available factory unlocked and the Samsung Galaxy h1 II kind of follows a similar path of availability, in the sense that you can get it at a bunch of different carriers, but also the phone is available.

Factory unlocked, so I will be leaving links in the video description for both phones so that you can see the most up-to-date pricing for them. Of course, if you go the carrier route, and you buy these- that a carrier store, then you're likely going to be getting a huge discount on them, which in many situations would make a lot of sense. Now the LG K 51 features a 6.5 inch display compared to a slightly smaller 6.4 inch display with the Samsung Galaxy h, 1e, you can see holding these two phones side-by-side here. The K 51 certainly is a little on the larger side. However, they are both relatively similar in both form factor and looks with the LG K 51 we're getting an LCD compared to a Super AMOLED display with the galaxy H 1 II am light is considered superior to LCD because it's brighter it has better colors, and you get better viewing angles compared to LCD, which is a bit more on the drab side, but also the viewing angles are definitely not as good now.

Both devices feature 720p displays so the same resolution. The LGA 51 has a PPI of 293 and the Samsung Galaxy. A 20 has a PPI of 268. Both phones feature in 19 and a half by 9 aspect ratios, which is definitely interesting to see, so they both have a more narrow but tall form factor. Now both devices feature kind of a similar layout here, in the sense that they both have a water drop notch at the top and then at the bottom, a little of a thicker bottom bezel, but the bezels in general, with the K 51, are certainly larger than the h20, and it's especially interesting how the h1 II only has a slightly smaller display, but the phone definitely is a bit smaller, so that mostly has to do with the smaller bezels.

That's for sure. Now in these water drops, we have the front facing cameras so with the LG K 51, we've a 13 megapixel front facing camera and the Galaxy 820 has an 8 megapixel front facing camera. Definitely check out my dedicated review videos about both of these phones to see photo and video quality from them, but in general, expect to get kind of similar quality from both devices. Now both phones feature 32 gigs of internal storage and they both feature micro, SD card expansion. I will say that I feel like 32, gigs, really isn't enough in 2020 it's like barely making it.

It's really gonna barely get you by because nowadays, apps are so large. So if you do consider yourself to be like a bit of a power user, maybe someone that has a bunch of applications installed on their phone and is always using them. Then you're definitely going to want to get a micro SD card and maybe even consider a phone 64 gigs instead, but of course, if you're going to get a phone with more storage, be ready to spend more money. I did, though, install a variety of my favorite applications on both phones as I've been using them when I test these devices and they all work fine. So if you are someone, that's a bit more of a digital minimalist where you don't put a lot of stuff on your phones, then I suppose 32 gigs will get the job done.

But if you plan on filling up the devices with photos and videos and downloads and all that stuff, then definitely get a micro SD card. Now. Neither of these two phones have wireless charging. They both of a finger sensor, though in the back, so we'll try that out. First, with the LGA 51 and that's nice and quick now we'll try it out with the galaxy a 20, and that was very fast as well so nice to see that we are getting responsive, fingerprint sensors now also on the back of the two phones.

Are the camera modules and both devices have multiple cameras on the back. Now, if the LGA 51 we're getting a 13 megapixel main camera, we're getting a 5 megapixel ultra wide-angle camera, and we're getting a 2 megapixel depth-sensing camera in with the galaxy a 20 we're getting a 13, megapixel main camera and a 5 megapixel camera that is both a depth: sensing camera and an ultra wide-angle camera. So, despite the galaxy h20 having one less camera on the back compared to the LG K 51, we actually get the same exact capabilities in addition to that we're getting portrait mode with both the front and rear camera. Now here's how things look with the front viewfinder and one of the cool things about the galaxy 820 is that we do have a button here to get an even wider frame. It's not much wider, but it is a bit better.

If you want to take group selfies now flipping over to the rear cameras with both phones, you can see that with the standard camera they both pick up about the same amount of content in the frame and then switching over to the ultra wide-angle cameras. You can definitely see a lot more content here now. It does seem like with the galaxy a 20. The ultra wide-angle camera is a bit wider, though, as you can see, the papers up at the top are able to fit in the frame, whereas the LG K 51. You can't see that, but regardless I'm happy to see that we are getting ultra wide-angle cameras with both phones.

Now both devices feature three gigabytes of RAM and with the LG K 51 we're getting the MediaTek hello P 22 processors, compared to the Samsung Enos, seven, eight, eight four, with the Samsung Galaxy, a 20 now I did run a benchmark test with both phones. So you can see the scores from that in with the LG K 51 we're getting an overall score of 8 3 to 5 5 and an overall score of 1 1 9 2 to 2 with the galaxy a 20. So without a doubt based off of these scores. You are get a lot better performance with the a20 in comparison, but that's to be expected because, generally, the a20 is a bit more of an expensive device. But if you go into your carrier, store for example- and you see both of these phones being offered at the same exact price- then just know that you're going to be getting better performance with the h1t.

Now video recording, with both devices maxes out at 1080p, both phones feature beefy 4000 million power, internal batteries, which is awesome now with the LG K 51, there is no NFC and with the Galaxy H one, they have certain models that have NFC and others. Don't know. Mine does have NFC I got this phone from metro by T-Mobile, but I know that there are some international models that don't have it so before purchasing you a 20. If NFC is important to you, then definitely double check to make sure it has that feature. I know for certain people that is very important to have now.

Both phones currently run Android 9pi. However, that's a bit of a disappointment from LG, since the K 51 just launched, so I, don't know if, when or ever the LG K 51 will get updated to Android 10, but considering that we're now in May 2020 and this phone launched pretty recently that I don't see it getting an update anytime soon, so definitely be happy with the software that ships with the phone now the good news is that for the most part, there aren't too many like major differences between Android 9 and Android 10, especially for kind of the average consumer out there. So I don't think too many people would really have a problem with buying this phone with Android 9 pi you're. Definitely going to get full compatibility with your various applications, but of course it never hurts to have the latest and greatest version of Android. Now, with the galaxy, a 20 were also currently stuck on android 9 pi, at least for my device here, but Samsung did promise that it's getting an update to Android 10 in May 2020.

Now we're getting close to the end of May 2020, so I'm a bit concerned that they won't get us the update by the end of the month. But it's definitely going to be coming soon. I know that, but at least Samsung has pledged that the device will be getting and wrote an update, but with the LG K 51 I have no idea and if I had to bet on it, I would say that the phone will definitely have Andrew nine, most likely throughout the rest of this year and probably will never get Android ten. So for some people that's important for other people. It is not an issue.

Just know that for the majority of tasks that you'll be doing, you won't notice any difference. So it's not like Android. Ten is a huge benefit, but maybe at least for the twenty it will be nice to have Samsung 1 UI 2.0, because that does bring over some extra new features. Now, taking a closer look at the hardware here, I already talked a lot about the front panels on the two devices you know we're getting kind of thicker bezels on the bottom and then water-drop notches at the top. Now taking a look on the left side of the two phones with the LG K 51 we're getting the volume up and volume down we're, also getting a dedicated, Google Assistant button which, for me personally I, don't see that to be useful at all I, never use that button.

Well, I am, on the other hand, someone that uses my Google Home Mini all the time, so I just don't really use that feature with my phone and then with the galaxy, a 20. We just have the slot for the micros card and SIM card. Another thing, too, is that both phones feature a plastic build all throughout ? the displays. So that's not a problem. In my opinion, I mean most people are probably gonna, be putting cases on these phones anyway.

But in addition to that, both devices do you feel solid? So I do appreciate that now I'm taking a look on the right side of the two phones with the LG K 51, we have the slot for the micro SD card in SIM card, and we have the power button and then, on the galaxy, a 20 on the right side. We have the volume button, and we have the power button now on the top of the two phones. They both feature in the noise-cancelling microphone and then on the bottom of the two devices they both have the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. They both have the noise-cancelling microphone. Furthermore, they both have the USB port for charging and data transfer, and they both have the speaker now taking a look at the back of the two phones.

Furthermore, they feature a pretty similar layout in the sense that they both have a fingerprint sensor, both of the camera module and the logos for the various brands they're. Also, both fingerprint magnets, so you'll definitely be picking up a lot of fingerprints on these phones if you do decide to use them without a case. So that's just one of the downsides with a glossy back. Let's now do a speed test comparison between these two devices now I did. Are you clear out the recent apps on both phones so keep that in mind, but we'll first go to the camera app, so one two three go and the a20 was first to pull up the camera? Let's now go to Google Chrome one two three go, and it looks like it was about a tie with both devices, and you can especially see in the side-by-side here how much brighter the display really is with the a20 and that's for two reasons.

The first reason is because the display in general is just brighter, but the second reason is that with AMOLED you are getting better viewing angles. So here's an example of that now: let's go to yahoo. com one two three go, and it looks like it's about a tie with both phones, which is interesting. Let's go to engadget. com one.

Two three goes: it looks like it was a little faster with the galaxy, a twenty which is to be expected. The video is popping up first as well, and it looks like the ad popped up first ?, so we'll do some scrolling, so pretty smooth scrolling with both phones. You know not as quick as a flagship would, but these phones are a fraction, the price of a flagship. Anyway, let's go to this link, one two three go and very fast to load up there at the age, 20 a little slower if the LGA 51, but it's not like, there's a huge difference between these two phones, but there certainly is a little of a difference so which is the better choice: the LGA 51 or the Samsung Galaxy, a 20. Well from my experience of using both phones and from the demonstration that you've seen so far, there really is nothing about the LG K 51.

That makes it better than the 20. Maybe you could argue that having a slightly larger display is a benefit, but really they're so similar that it's hardly a difference. So it really comes down to the price that you can get these phones for, for example, if you walk into a carrier, store, and they're, offering the same exact promotion, and you can get these phones for the same exact amount of money, then definitely the h1t is the way to go. But if you go into the store- and maybe the h1 is 100 bucks and the K 51 is free or for example, right now at boost, you can get the case 51 for $89.99 and that's what the new line then definitely the cape, if you want to be the better choice, so, like I, said, take a look see what the current offers are. The good news, though, is that there's not a huge difference between these two phones, but again everything that the Que 51 can do.

The h 1e can do better. I would say that you can substitute them in many situations, so it's not like things are gonna, be terrible if you get the K 51, but things will be slightly better with the h, 1e, so I hope that cleared things up for you, I hope this video was helpful. Definitely let me know what you think about these two phones and whether you think the K 51 is a good attempt here from LG to regain some market share in the budget phone market. Again, I don't want to pick on the case.51 I think the K 51 is still a decent phone in its own way and, like I said, if you can get the K 51 for cheaper than the age 20, then it makes sense to go this route. But if the phones are exactly the same price, or they're a similar price, then the H 20 is the way to go, but give this video a thumbs up.

If you enjoyed it, take a look at the links in the video description to see the most up-to-date pricing for these two phones. But this is the LG k, 51 versus the Samsung Galaxy h, 1e. My name is Kevin. Make sure to sub to the channel and I will see you in the next video.
