LG G8X + Ipega gaming controller - dual screen gaming? does it work?

Hey guys how's it going today, I'm going to show you guys a few things. I want to try with my LG g8x smartphone. So first, the LG GO is a phone. That's a dual screen: smartphone I've already done a video on it. The main reason why I got it is that I think it's perfect for obviously multitasking, because it has to duel this place, but also for watching movies. Listening to music things like that because of the great OLED display actually do a little a displaced and the fact that has a quad, DAC, headphone, jack and stereo speakers, which I think makes it perfect for consuming media and watching you know, multimedia content and stuff like that.

So another thing I thought about doing with this one as well is also playing games. So some of you may know that on a previous video I, already showcased the razor phone too. So this is my razor phone too, and the grace of the jungle cat controllers. This phone is a phone that I'm mostly used for gaming, mostly for emulators right I mean play mobile phone games as well. I mostly use it for playing emulators like PlayStation and 64 Super Nintendo, Game, Boy Advance things like that, and these controllers are really nice I, like the way that they feel it's really click.

So I'm pretty satisfied with this phone and this set up, but I also wanted to see if, if I can make this work with my LG as well, because my LG is a dual screens setup right. So this should be more versatile for gaming as well, because this one is like a Nintendo Switch style. Gaming handheld right, whereas this style is almost like a Nintendo DS right with the dual screens. So I thought it might be cool to try putting a game controller on the LG G at X, and some of you may actually know that there is already a phone that does this kind of gaming phone. That already has this kind of setup already and that's the Asus duchy phone ? right.

The Asus KG phone ? has a twin view: dock, which is basically what's adding a second display, much like the LG GO, and it also adds their own gaming controllers, which are the lunar game pad. The problem is the Asus KG phone 2 is real, expensive right, and it doesn't have a micro SD card slot. This phone has my first e card slot, and you don't need to pay as much money, because it's not that expensive right. This is only 500 bucks. That's how much it got this one for the ASUS ROG phone -.

You would need to get at least a 512 gigabyte version, since it doesn't have a micro SD which brings the price up to $900 for the phone itself. Then, if you want to add the twin view, dock which I'm talking $500, this phone includes the dual screen accessory for the dodgy phone -. You also got to add the twin view: dock, which is like another $200. On top of that, then you got to add the lunar game pad, which is another $150 or something, so you're. Talking about the Aces KG phone to set up, which is your know, that's a that's a native set up that is just made to have basically this layout right, the gaming controllers with the dual screen, but it's going to cost you like 1200 1300 dollars, which, for me, you know it's a little rich.

So I wanted to approximate that set up with something much cheaper, so obviously got this for 500 bucks, including the dual screen accessory, and then I actually really wanted to use the razor key she's which got released after this. So these are the Jumbo cat controllers, which I really like, but the problem is they won't work on most phones because it has to go inside this case. This is a custom case. That's designed for the jungle, cat and razor only released a few of these right. They released it for the razor phone ?, which I'm using now and I, think the Huawei or the Samsung was the s9 or something like that, whereas 10 they released a phone case just for a few different phone models.

So it's not gonna work with the LG. So that's why I didn't use the jungle pad controllers with the LG. Otherwise, I would have used these, but I want to use the ways of Keisha as well, which came out after this. But the problem is the key she takes in a USB input and the problem with the LG GO is that when you're putting it into this dual screen phone case, you actually don't have access to the USB connector it's using some kind of proprietary magnetic charger. So you have to use an extra dongle I.

Don't know why LG did I actually I know why LG did this is to sell more dongles. But it's just really. In my opinion, this is one of the worst things about this. I really do like this phone, the LG GO I. Just don't like the fact that when you put it in the case the dual screen case, you don't have access to the USB connector anymore.

They cover it with this magnetic charging accessory. So you got to use a dongle to charge it. So then it doesn't work with the razor Keisha, because that requires a direct USB-C input right, so I have to go with the Bluetooth controller. So it's looking for a Bluetooth controller online found this company called I Sega. Is that what it's called I Sega, some Hong Kong company? This is pretty cheap.

It's about 30 bucks, u. s.40 bucks, Canadian dollars. Obviously this is not a razor, so I'm not expecting it to be as good quality as severe, but it's also much cheaper than the razor because people, you know, we all know that razors kind of up charges for their accessories, but at least the razor controls are pretty good right, they're, very nice feeling very click I do like them. So this is going to be a step-down in quality. It's not going to be as good as the raise of controllers, but what can I does it right? I can't use the razor jungle or the ways of fish or the riser right.

They. They actually have a few different controllers. The riser is not going to work because this is a dual screen accessories. So none of the ways our mobile controllers is going to work, so I have to go with Chinese company instead, which there are many, but I'm, not sure which one's good and which ones not, so I just tried out this one. This I pay go, looks like a pretty standard setup here right.

You got your X Y, a B face buttons right here home button, and you got your right analog, stick which is clickable, which is a health suite right, select a start here and then on the left side. You have a left analog, stick which is also clickable, the d-pad which I don't really like this d-pad. Actually, it's kind of mushy in a turbo button right here, and this is the on button right here and then this charges with micro USB- yes, not USB-C, but micro USB, which kind of disappointment, but there it is, and then I'll lanyard right here then the back of the device. You can see that this gaming controller is meant to be expandable, as in it will expand out to fit your phone. The size of your phone, so I think it can fit up to six point three inch phone or maybe even six point four inch phone, but as you can see, my LG GO is really stretching this controller to its limits.

It really cannot stretch more than this because it's not really meant to hold a dual screen device, so my LG is a six point: four inch device and plus it's its on this dual screen accessory case right. So it's gonna, add some width. So you can see it's barely fitting into this controller accessory here right. It's barely fitting I, just I had to really push it in here and the top doesn't really close that well. So it's slightly bigger than what the controller chassis will support, so it can't really fully close so again, I'm not sure how well this controller dock were working with my phone, but I'm testing it out here.

It barely fits in right, it's a little too big, but seems to be at least very pretty stable, right, I. Just can't really close it fully anyways. Let's see how well this controller dock does with the LG GO dual screen. Alright, so let's try a Game, Boy Advance game here, I'm going to try a super mode, Vance four, which is Super Mario, Bros 3. Now for all these emulators I've already configured them, I've already removed the virtual controls.

If there are any I've mapped all the buttons adjusted the screen, orientation aspect, ratio and everything, so it should be good to go, and I'll show you with this phone. The other thing I want to know is that the sound is actually quite good, so the stereo speakers are quite good. She headaches I also like to stare speakers on the razor phone tool as well, but yeah I think the EAR Texas speakers is just as good as though there's a phone ?, so no disappointments. There's pretty good phone for gaming. I should okay I use the analog controls, as well as the d-pad yeah.

So again, this is just sounds pretty good. I can turn it up to pull, and you see it gets pretty loud. Actually so I would say that the speakers are probably on par with the razor phone ?, which is pretty impressive. Considering that the razor phone ? was meant to be a gaming phone, whereas the LG GO wasn't specifically meant to be game phone, but it's also pretty good for gaming as well and there's no headphone jack on here. There is a headphone jack on here, but it's kind of a moot point.

When you kill me anyways, you don't really have access to it. So I guess, if you wanted to use headphones, you'd have to use Bluetooth headphones, but that's that's the case with pretty much any phone with gaming controllers right because it obscures the headphone jack all right, so in Boy Advance, which is basically yeah. It's basically Super Nintendo portable, actually like try Super Nintendo, because this is probably my favorite game console ever so what you can do on this bottom screen here, that's a something! That's up to you! I mean you can check your email. You can be you on YouTube. You can be a messenger Facebook, Hangouts Instagram will actually Instagram, won't even support landscape.

Maybe TikTok I don't know, but you can do anything on this bottom screen, while you're playing this game right, you can so let's say I want to have messenger open. Okay, so let's say there we go, so I can talk to I could talk to my phone on messenger while I'm playing you know a game up here, so the Omega Man X is a classic. You can play that one right all right, so one thing is uh when you're on the screen right here. It's you can't use the game pad actually immediately. You have to click back in the screen here, and then you can use the game pad because I guess it doesn't detect the primary screen properly.

Otherwise, so, if I do this, I can't, I can't do anything. Yeah, click back here. So it's not exactly like full-on multitasking. You still gotta click that proper screen, but you know at least you believe you can. At least you can have both windows open all right, anyways, yeah, Super Nintendo right here.

Obviously, if it can run Game, Boy, Advance or a supreme Tend and pretty much all phones, these days can't run Super Nintendo. We can try a more powerful game, so yeah. Actually one of the things I wanted to try with the dual screen. Smartphone is a DES emulator right because, wouldn't it be cool to have you know a DES actually acting as a DES and having like one screen on the top and one screen on the bottom right on an emulator I mean, so that would be cool right, but I don't think it works. I've been trying to get it working, but okay, Sonic Colors right! Try Sonic Colors, okay, so normally on a DSM, you later drastic it's.

What most people use I guess you have two dual screens right here right now, since I have a dual screen: smartphone, wouldn't it be nice to have one screen down here? One screen up here right and the way you would do that is by mirroring the display right, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like the geode X has our option, so it doesn't seem like it has a option to mirror to this place. So that's really unfortunate. Okay, because if I come here, the display, so I can just have one screen on here, which you can do you know using the drastic options you can. You can have one screen on here or the bottom screen or both you know you can configure it in the app right here. But if you have a mirrored right, if you have this screen mirror down here, you can just you know, choose whatever screen.

You want to display down here and choose whatever screen. You want to display up here. That would be really nice, but yeah I don't see any mirroring options here you can swap the screen. You can show the dual screen on the main screen, which is right here, or you know just keep it like that or put it to sleep. If you want to save battery life, if you don't want to use this display, then you can put to sleep, or you can turn off this screen.

So there's no option: there's no option to mirror this display with this display, which is really unfortunate, because I really kind of wanted to play a was game. This way right. The way it's meant to be played instead of in this format, any I don't know any phone right now that supports this screen there. So that's kind of a bummer. You know like the society phone too with the twin view dog, the ZTE axon in those are the only other phones, I know of that have a dual screen capability, but none of them support screen hearing which is really a shame, because I really want to be able to play DS games as an actual DS right.

So it would be really nice yeah, so basically, I can only play the vs. The way to everyone else plays the DSM. You later right, we're watching this I mean it works right. If you guys trace to play like a mini, Nintendo, 64 and hello, hello, if you think of a chili a like a support. This goes so game boys, like a Portable, Nintendo Game, Boy Advance is like a portable stance and TS is like a Portable Nintendo 64 right so basically is like in 64 type graphics, a small detail, anyways yeah, that's funny yeah.

So it's really unfortunate that I can't mirror the displays, otherwise I would be able to play the Nintendo DS emulator. That way at DSS. I should play very unfortunate. All right, so I have dolphin emulator running. This is usually the most powerful emulator I run on my smartphones.

There's a few games you can play here: let's try Mario Kart, Double Dash. Why do these ripples so yeah? This is a dolphin emulator running on the GO, which I think it's running, just as well as on the racer phone ? I mean the LG. Go is a pretty decent device, so I guess I'm, not surprised that this anyways that's a merit, part double -. Alright, yes, we can try, of course Soul Caliber ?, it's one of my favorite fighting games. Ever my childhood.

We try to play it. I try to create a flash game based on this game. You know Joe because, I love it so much. It's my favorite character that cake um. These controls are not bad, like I said they're, not as good as the Racer jungle cats, but they're, okay, they're, serviceable, I'm, not gonna, say they're.

Anything great, but I mean for the price that I got on for like 30 bucks, you get what you pay for right. Money for 30 bucks is fine. I'm, not gonna, say that it's gonna fall for anything. At that point. It's its worth.30 bucks and that's what I'm going to say it's worth its price point yep. So it's Soul Caliber to anyone here on the top right screen.

You can also make it round on the bottom screen people and, of course, it depends on what you want the display to do but yeah. This is using the G at X, with a few emulators just to show you guys how it runs and this controller the page controller, is okay for the price. Again, nothing special! It is not like it's not like the Racer controller. It's not click like the Racer control, I like it, because it's its so click and tactile. Furthermore, it just feels a bit better built the eye.

Sega is a little smushy, but I'm not gonna, say that it's a ripoff or anything, it's definitely cheaper right. These definitely don't have the same feel as the racers do for 30 bucks I mean the jungle. Cats were like what 80 bucks or something for 30 bucks. That is what you get, and I guess that is expected at that price range, so anyways, guys I, hope you guys enjoy this video I just wanted to show off my LG GO, this dual screen smartphone with a gaming controller attached, because I wanted to see if I can do something similar to what the ASUS ROG phone to do. But you know without having to pay for that.

This is a reasonable approximation, I suppose yeah. Another thing that might put you off from getting this set up compared to the LG phone too, is the fact that this display kind of gets caught on the edges here. So you can't really close it fully. I mean it'll still put your phone to sleep and everything, so you don't have to worry about your phone actually being on, but yeah. It's just a little out of sight.

Lee! That's it I mean it works for me, might not work for some of you. So that's another thing: I just want to bring up is yeah for this particular controller anyways. There might be other controllers on the market that might actually fit this device. I haven't tried them, but at least for this one, the pick up. It seems like this phone is a little too big I mean it fits, but you know you can't really close it properly.

So yeah, as you can see, there are some trade-offs here, yeah so for five hundred thirty bucks right, five hundred bucks for the phone plus thirty bucks for this controller, I pay. What like forty percent, the price of the ASUS ROG phone to plus the twelve you ROG plus controller, I mean obviously not going to be as good quality, but I get a reasonable approximation for much less right. So I guess, if you guys want to have a dual screen gaming setup. This is probably the way to go just yeah. It's unfortunate that a lot of the better controllers just won't work with this.

The ones like the game vice or the way so fish or razor rise. You right. They won't work with this particular phone because of the way that LG kind of obscures their USB-C port when it's in this case. So that's really unfortunate, but you can definitely pick up some Bluetooth controllers like I did here and, and it works so yeah I'm thinking about Candice phone actually replace my razor phone too as well, because then I can use this phone for both media consumption, watching movies, listening to music and playing games. So it's basically almost like I.

Do everything phone at that point and I think it's its pretty good I mean the speakers are perfect for playing games, I feel as well as anything else. Just the speakers on this phone are generally pretty good, just as good as the Racer phones -. These are phone twos, I, think and the camera is not so great, but you know: I didn't buy this phone to take pictures. I use this phone mainly to use as a multimedia device and It's really been fulfilling that for me so far, the only thing is the dual screen I feel like could be utilized better I really wish that LG gave me a way to mirror the display where extended the display from one screen to the other. That would be really helpful, especially when you know using the DSM you later and things like that.

So I really hope that you know in the future. Maybe the Microsoft do I, don't know if one of the dual screen phones in the future, maybe they can utilize that or the galaxy foulness. Another thing right, I think the galaxy field definitely has a feature right because I think that well, that was a tip. That's a different device, and it's a lot more expensive, but that's another device. I might actually try out with something like this right, because imagining putting like a folding phone here, and then you know if you want to have a DS emulator, you just fold it out, and then you start playing DS games on like you mirrored the displays and stuff.

That's also pretty cool, so I don't know. I guess: I'll have to just see what in the future what dual screen phones come out, but for now the GO it's a pretty good option. So that's it guys, thanks for watching.
