Hey guys John V from phone Rena here you're watching our video review of the Kyocera Brigadier. We all know that Cater ham makes a lot of ruggedized smartphones. You look at the lineup, that's pretty much what they make, but what separates the Brigadier from all the rest is the fact that it's sporting, a sapphire sphere glass, which, as they tout, is virtually scratch proof you're not going to find anything stylish here. That's certainly obvious, especially seeing that the kiss era brigadier is a ruggedized smartphone and its design looks much like the previous ruggedized smartphones we've seen from the company. For starters, it's pretty thick, and it's also weighting the hands. So you definitely notice that has a hefty feel the body itself.
It's comprised mostly out of 30 plastic with these rubberized elements around the sides, so it helps the cushion Falls, but we notice with the rear plastic casing here, it's more prone to scratching. Seeing that the foam meets military specification 810g, it's meant to survive some pretty abusive punishment. So if you're, the kind of person who drops your phone onto the hard plate, treatment, you're, not gonna, have to worry just because it's able to withstand it at the same time, it's also waterproof. So you could have it submerge under six feet of water for up to 30 minutes you're not going to have any troubles with it afterwards. On paper, it's 4 and 1/2 inch, 720p, IPS LCDs hardly astounding, but we're generally surprised by some pleasant qualities of it.
For starters, its pixel density count of 326 pixels per inch is still pretty good, especially from a normal viewing distance. Secondly, it reaches a maximum output of 610 nits of brightness, which is muddled impressive, because most top-end phones usually reach around 450 nits. So it's especially bright making it very easy to view under outdoor conditions and, finally, there's the sapphire shield glass layered over the display that virtually gives it a scratch proof quality. Now we have to admit that it's pretty darn, tough, just because on several occasions we're outside we dropped it onto the hard pavement, and you'd think that it would cause some sort of scratch. But looking at it, it still looks spotless.
Your most impressive is how well the sapphire shield glass puts up against sharp objects you with a lot of words, trying to scratch it up with something sharp. Like our keys, it's able to show no signs of any scratching whatsoever. Now, if I tilt this slightly, you might see just a little of evidence of scratching, but actually, when you wipe it with a cloth, it just continues to show a very clean finish. So cursor is able to cook up a pretty convincing customized Android 4.4.2 Kitkat experience. It's different.
The way that the home screen here employs some very neat widgets that target the specific demographic the phone is going after these three widgets are pretty useful, they're, pretty much the size of a single home screen. You have things like the single weather. Here you have one that shows us the entire day's forecast. You even have the dura grid widget, which allows us quick access to some functions or apps directly through it, and you even have a compass as well condition the Kyocera brigadier features other useful applications at box. For example, you have a flashlight one, the cool things that we've had.
We programmed it to the button here on the side, so I'll go, do is just hold it down for a few seconds. It automatically launches the application and finally, they've also put in a barometer app. Now most people aren't going to be using it a lot, but for the intended demographic that the phone is trying to go after it serves its purpose. So you have the barometer to measure the atmospheric pressure and even an altimeter to show us the altitude it's pretty useful for surfing the web as well. Just because you have fast 4G LTE speeds yeah.
These are navigation controls and also page rendering. On top of the Google Play Music application, kiss Sarah throws in its own music player as well. It's pretty generic and bare-bones. But what's really impressive is the audio quality from its internal speaker. You have to front firing speakers they're placed towards the bottom edge of the phone, and it produces some really strong volumes easily matching devices like the HTC One m8.
Luckily, it suffices is for watching videos too, even though the display resolution isn't all that amazing, so it plays high-definition videos with barely any evidence of any lag or slowdown. Unfortunately, the phone's overall performance is unimpressive: it's powered by a quad-core 1.4 gigahertz Qualcomm, Snapdragon 400 processor, with 2 gigabytes of RAM, the same combo, that's used in device like the Moto G, so don't expect to play any in test an 3d games or do some heavy processing with this device. It's pretty nice that the camera app is rich with different shooting modes and manual controls. So you have the usual things like different color effects. You have continuous and panoramic, but you even have a very cool one like the DSLR styled the focus option there.
So it gives your background more both than anything else, and you also have a host of different manual controls as well. So you can adjust things like the ISO, the white balance and even the exposure. Let's wipe the bump up to a higher resolution with its eight megapixel camera, the Hoosier brigadier still fails to impress us with its image quality. You think that there'd be more focus on details, but that's not the case. They still tend to come out a little on the soft side and in lower lighting conditions.
It's performance even worse, due to the fact that there's its more susceptible to blurring and digital noise. Likewise, it's 1080p video recording quality falls into the same boat as it's still image quality. It's just not enough to impress us first and foremost, the videos just look a little more on the overexposed side. It doesn't feature continuous, autofocus, but it takes a long time for it to just especially when objects are closer, and the last thing here is just the audio recording. Furthermore, it's just Missy and distorted the only bright spot to the handsets call quality is the speakerphone it's again potent and powerful, making it very easy for conversations.
The earpiece, though, is a little tough to hear just because we got a jam, it close to our ear and on the other online. Our callers complain about the amount of distortion and noise that the microphone picks up. Still we're happy to report that the phonons 3100 William hour battery delivers astounding results in our better benchmark test. It produced in half hours of juice, which is pretty impressive in our everyday normal usage, we're able to get approximately a day and a half out of it at 50 dollars with a two-year contract through Verizon Wireless. The Brigadier is pretty good option if you're the kind of person who wants a ruggedized smartphone with its superior rugged construction.
It's obviously meant to withstand more punishment than the traditional smartphone, but same time we're pretty impressed with the sapphire sphere. Glass, that's sporting, just because, as we've seen, it's pretty much impenetrable. So if you guys want to learn more about the Kyocera Brigadier, you can check our website phone Rena, comm Jhansi, thanks for watching.
