This is the iPhone 12 Pro and graphite. I've been using this phone for about a month now, as I'm sure you've heard in the box, you'll get only an iPhone, a charging, brick paperwork, a sim card tool and no charging brick I'll briefly go over what apple introduced on the new iPhone 12 Pro after a month of use. I feel that I've narrowed down the new features of what's actually useful and worth upgrading over versus. What's just an advertising gimmick to try to make the phone look better. When I originally took the phone out of the box, it immediately felt extremely premium, just like the iPhone x I had before it and after a full month of use. It definitely still feels that way, and I've kept the phone in the apple silicone case for the majority of its life.
This far, even then, it still maintains that premium feel, and I believe this is from the industrial boxed off sides of the device. So if this phone is so similar to the three-year-old iPhone x, why would I go through the process of upgrading it? Well foremost, the camera is the main reason. I record all the videos I made on this channel using my iPhone on the left is what I've recorded on the iPhone 12 Pro and on the right is what I've recorded with the x definitely a drastic improvement. However, in all fairness around the same time, I upgraded- I also invested in some better filming equipment, including lights, a clean table and a new camera stand. However, the combination of these three have definitely increased the quality of the videos, but the camera quality improvements of the iPhone 12 Pro have also been vital to this process.
Moreover, since I'm coming from the iPhone x, both the wide angle lens and the two times zoom lens are completely new to me. I don't use the wide angle lens, but the two times zoom lens has been amazing for making high quality content as it does not reduce the quality of the image to zoom in like it would have had I zoomed in with the iPhone x. Moreover, another reason I think the 12 pro is worth the upgrade after a month of use is the introduction of MagSafe. So far, I've been able to just use the new charger, and that alone is convenient enough. A reason to add to the reasons why to upgrade.
However, I'm really excited for all the new MagSafe compatible devices that will be released in the near future, like a car mount that charges your phone while holding it in place. So 5g was a huge talking point in the apple keynote in which they revealed the new iPhone. However, in all honesty I haven't noticed a difference in the data speed of my iPhone 12 Pro over the old iPhone x that was on 4g. However, it is very important to note that I don't live in a major city, but I do live very near one, so my phone is on 5g about half the time I use it. Furthermore, I also don't use my phone for much more than sending text or making phone calls when I'm not on Wi-Fi, so it'd be hard for me to notice the speed difference anyway.
After a month of use, I wouldn't recommend getting the 12 just because of the 5g. It's just a nice added level of future proofing. For the iPhone, moreover, apple introduced LIDAR, and if it came out tomorrow that they were lying and didn't actually add it, I wouldn't have noticed the difference. Lidar was primarily added to improve the video and photo quality of the device. Everything else that was mentioned in the keynote was just trying to increase the list of new features in the new iPhone.
However, anything that increases the quality of the cameras is a welcome upgrade in my book, then apple added the brand new a14 bionic, making this the fastest iPhone ever, which is something that's standard on. Basically, all the new iPhones, it's definitely faster than my x and gives me confidence in the 12 pro lasting for the years to come. Finally, apple introduced the ceramic shield. Obviously I haven't tested it, but those who have said apple's quoted four times more shadow resistance is accurate. It's apple's pursuit of the durability in the iPhone that really excites me.
I'm definitely still keeping my phone in a case, but it gives me much more confidence in the durability of my thousand dollar plus phone and the screen that costs 279 dollars to replace. So in conclusion, at first it seemed the iPhone 12 Pro may not have been a drastic upgrade over the last few iPhones, but after a month of use, I think it's well worth the upgrade, especially if camera quality is something that's really important to you. You.
