iPhone 7 Plus many years later!

So, what is up guys nick here, helping you to master your technology, seven plus many years later? Should you consider buying this right now? No, I don't recommend you buy this right now, unless you just seen one and you just gotta- have this phone because it's definitely aged at this point. It's from 2016, it's almost gonna, be five years old. However, what will shock you are that this one actually performs pretty well, it's definitely smooth enough for daily use, even though this phone is about five years old. This is a great example of how well these iPhones hold up over the long haul. However, a lot of people still upgrade either way, even though these phones do hold up pretty well you'll see some apps are a little slow here at this point, and this phone definitely doesn't have anywhere near the battery life it used to have, and it does it can warm up on occasion, depending on if you are playing a heavy game here and there, but I will say this phone overall is shockingly good for how old it is. Now I will say the body the build design of this phone is super thin, and you know on the back.

I got the jet black, so it's smudgy before you say this is an iPhone 8 plus. This is not an iPhone 8 plus I'll go show you here in the geek bench 5 iPhone 7, plus a10 fusion, clocked in at 2.34 gigahertz. I want to talk about the overall body build design, though I like the weight of this one. It was 188 grams, so it had some heft, but it wasn't super heavy like over 220 grams, like some newer iPhones, but in terms of how it feels in the hand imagine the iPhone 11 Pro max the iPhone 10s max with bigger bezels, that's kind of how this feels in the hand. It is a big boy device right here, but it's got some big boy.

Bezels too. Those definitely look a little aged, but the only reason they're not super aged looking is that the iPhone SC 2020 still exists, so this phone can still be floating around, and it's not going to look funny or anything like that. It still works. Pretty well, you know we have an iPad Mini with a very similar design, as this iPhone 7 plus right here and talking about the display itself. One of the best things about the display with the iPhone 7 plus, is that it's a 1080p LCD retina so better than the lower resolution.10R 11 iPhone, 8 iPhone, 7 iPhone. Se 20 20.

There's a lot of iPhones with less sharp resolution than this one, and it does make a difference. It is the best retina IPS display out there with the 1080p. If you look at the iPhone, 8 plus and the 7 plus, these are some of the sharpest you can find they're, pretty close actually to the more pro series iPhones up today. So over 400 pixels per inch and having a 3d touch display I mean how could you forget 3d, look at the speed of 3d touch compared to those newer, press-ins. There's a lot slower on the newer one.3D touch just fantastic. Has this little vibration in the display apple decided? They didn't need to invest in that, no more because it wasn't super important it didn't take off, so they decided to go to haptic press to save money.

However, I really do like and miss 3d touch from this phone. It was pretty fantastic to use. Overall, I will say in terms of the software you're getting updates pretty regularly for this phone. The iOS 14 really brings a 7 plus to a level of modern that you wouldn't expect from a phone from 2016 and having the widget support and all that finally takes better advantage of such a large 5.5 inch display. I know 5.5 doesn't sound large at this point, but you got to remember the aspect. Ratio of the iPhone 7 plus makes this a large display.

It is very wide, whereas some newer six and above inch displays are narrow, so they're they're, pretty similar actually to this older 5.5. But again the bezels are definitely something that really reminds you're using an older iPhone with the iPhone 7 plus performance, though, like I said, is pretty acceptable. I don't know what I was doing there performance pretty acceptable on this phone. I'm going to compare this in speed when it comes to iOS 15, but I have to say overall, it's pretty good. It's not gonna.

Disappoint! You too much at all, like basic apps run good. Even the third party apps do run pretty good as well again, like I say it's totally functional here in 2021, and that's saying a lot. I mean if you held onto this phone for all of you who hold on to the iPhone 7 plus go ahead, and let me know you know how it's been for you holding on to this phone. For that long performance is good in terms of the ram for the time. This had three gigabytes of ram.

You can see it right there 2.93 that's an estimation. It's three gigabytes of ram. This was actually a lot for that time, because all the other iPhones had two gigabytes of ram. There's still iPhones today with three gigabytes of ram, so this one was kind of ahead of its time for an Apple device. It had plenty of ram at the time, and I think that could be why it still performs very well as well.

The a10 fusion was a great chip as what 16 nanometers, but it was just overall a strong chipset, and they kept it in iPads for a long time. So this one right here performs pretty well here in 2020, I'm not going to say that it performs super quick, it's not blazing fast, but it's functional. It's definitely functional now in the way of the camera, with the iPhone 7 plus, it actually is pretty good in good lighting. You can go in 2x right there, and you can zoom up to 10x, so you still have the telephoto lens on there with the dual camera. This was the first iPhone with a dual camera and look how disgusting that back is getting.

This is what is the problem with the jet black color, but you had that dual camera setup, and it was capable of doing up to 4k at 30 fps. So we didn't see an improvement to the video quality here on the newer iPhones and went up to 4k 60. However, I would say, as long as you have strong lighting, the iPhone 7 plus performs exceptionally well. However, the newer iPhones have better detail. They have much better lower light.

There's you got to get an app to do a night mode on here, and they're overall, just going to give you much better results. The front-facing camera on here is a 7 megapixel capable of up to 1080p HD video, which is okay, but it's. It definitely looks a little more grainy than you'll see on the newer iPhones. I'm not super happy with the video on the 7 plus. This is an area where it really shows its age.

The cameras have been so much upgraded over the 7 plus that you know it definitely feels like a 2016 phone. However, I would say if you're just doing basic photography, and you're, not big on camera. Again, this is still a functional phone. It's not like it doesn't work. You can still use it.

It's gonna most people probably won't even know if you threw a filter on some of these results. So it's usable now when it comes to the battery life for the iPhone 7 plus, you are looking at a battery that will get you most of the day depending on the health. You know this one with the updates that have come to it definitely doesn't perform as efficiently as it did when it first came out. I remember when this came out on iOS 10. This thing was a ridiculous fast, like remember, opening up applications in the Apple Store.

While I was waiting to get my order and man was it just flying through everything nowadays, it still does pretty well, but not quite like it did back in the days on I iOS 10 so really have to say the performance, not bad at all. You mean you're, not really even seeing lag here on this video whatsoever, but again, if you're looking for blazing fast, this phone's not going to provide it to you, it'll provide you good performance, it'll be functional, but it's not going to provide you with exceptional blazing fast speeds like it once did something that's perfect. Here is the audio. Clearly the bottom speaker's a lot louder, but up here nowhere near as loud, so I will say that if you're looking for you know getting a secondhand iPhone, 7 plus at a really low price of probably around 200 or less at this point, you're going to get a pretty good overall speaker on this phone. So I would say that the audio is acceptable.

Now additional features like the touch ID. This is second gen touch ID. This was not the first touch ID they made, so it was pretty quick. It's similar to the one in the iPhone SE 2020 you see how flawlessly it works. We can do this all day.

It's quick, however, there's no face ID. There's. No facial unlock. Nothing like that, so you do have to rely on that, but that doesn't seem to be a big problem for those of you who do rely on fingerprint sensors anyway and using mask a lot. This is still a pretty great alternative way to use it so yeah, that's pretty good there overall for the iPhone 7 plus.

Now I will say too that this won't have pretty good phone call quality, because this had Qualcomm modems and good reception strength, so this was strong for the iPhone 7 plus. In addition, this had for Bluetooth 4.2. So this wasn't quite as quick to connect to my Bluetooth devices. I noticed that when the newer ones came with 5.0, they were connecting a little snappier a little quicker, so not the fastest in the Bluetooth connections. But overall I just wanted to revisit this many years later.

To tell you, you know almost five years in the iPhone 7 plus has been a great device over this time. You know it's showing its age at this point, but I think this goes to show why flagship phones might be worth it. Look how usable this flagship phone is many. Many years later, even though it has, you know an older look, it's very usable if you take a look at an iPhone 7 that has more things that make you feel much older, like a single camera on board. At least this had a dual camera with the telephoto zoom out.

So that's good. The 7 had a lower res screen, at least this had a 1080 screen. A lot of phones are still getting 1080 screens. The bigger display phones went to the bigger displays, and this held up pretty well, so you can see that sometimes getting a more premium device can help. You hold up a little longer in your smartphone purchase, but that's it for me for seven plus many years later.

If you have the seven plus share your experience with the community down below, let us know what it's been like for you, and it's been great to revisit this subscribes. If you haven't already thumbs up, if you enjoyed the content, I will catch you all in the next episode. Thank you very much for watching nick here and peace.
