iPhone 12 Mini (Long Term) Review - My Honest Thoughts..8 Months Later!

I, for the life of me cannot stop making videos on this phone. I've probably made about 10 dedicated videos on the 12 mini, and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. So in this video I want to give you guys my long term perspective on the iPhone 12 mini after having used it as my daily driver for the past 8 months. Yes, believe it or not, it's been 8 months, since the iPhone 8 mini was released. So time sure does fly. The iPhone 12 mini is a fantastic phone.

In fact, in my personal opinion, it's the best iPhone ever made to date, and let me tell you why I love this phone so much, and it's not just because of the size there's more to this phone than what meets the eye. What's a real shame is, after the release of the iPhone 13 mini apple will be discontinuing the entire iPhone mini lineup, meaning that this phone is getting cancelled and that's primarily because sales of this phone have been outright terrible. So you may be asking why that is, and we'll talk a bit about that later in the video. But first, let's talk about the reasons why I love this phone. You can't talk about the 12 mini without talking about the size.

The 12 mini feels fantastic in the hands. This modern, squared off design with rounded edges, makes the 12 mini feel very modern. This phone is also extremely lightweight, coming in at 133 grams making this the lightest phone that I've used in the past 10 years in the summer. I use this Nike hip pack to carry around the iPhone 12 mini with me, and this honestly is one of the best purchases I've made all year. It's big enough to fit my wallet, AirPods keys and a phone, but it's also compact and lightweight enough to carry around with me everywhere.

I go strapped to my chest. This Nike, hip pack is definitely worth checking out. I will leave a link for you guys in the description below ergonomics wise. The iPhone 12 mini is easy to use one-handed and over the past eight months I've become a pretty efficient texture with just one hand. Yes, the keyboard is a lot smaller on this 5.4 inch panel. So early on, I did find myself making a ton of mistakes while typing.

After a couple of weeks, though, I did adapt to the smaller form factor, and now I can type out full paragraphs and reply to messages and emails by typing with just one hand, unless you have giant mitts, like Kathy Leonard, you should be able to adapt to this smaller form factor rather easily. Whenever I have to go back to an android device for review purposes, I just find the size to be awkward. Remember back in 2008, a 5.4 inch smartphone was considered the norm and over time phones gradually began to get bigger and bigger. So for apple to rewind. The clock and revert to a 5.4 inch iPhone was quite surprising for many, including myself, by the way, if you guys are enjoying this video. Do me a solid and drop a like on this video and subscribe to the channel for more iPhone 12 mini content.

I have to give a shout-out to our channel sponsor because without them this video would not be possible. So major shout out to mystify for sponsoring a portion of this video. I've teamed up with case to fight to get you guys, 15 off their new lineup of leather cases. Mystify is hands down one of the best companies on the planet when it comes to smartphone cases, and let me show you guys why today with me, I have classified's lineup of Luke leather cases for the iPhone 12 mini. These are biodegradable cruelty.

Free leather cases made from 90, recycled materials plus 100, recycled packaging, you'll love the textured grain finish of these cases, because they look and feel like genuine leather, and the best part is this case is made entirely for you, but it is also eco-friendly. The inside of the Luke leather is a fibrous weight lining. This prevents the back of your iPhone from getting scratched up. Each of these cases also have an antimicrobial coating that eliminates 99 of bacteria and keeps your phone gem free. This is a huge selling point for me personally, especially in 2021, given that we are in a pandemic.

This lineup of case to fight cases is available in eight different colors, and each leather case is entirely customizable to your own preference. You can finish off your case with your name monogram or even initials. I got my YouTube channel name right here, RJ tech and I honestly love the feel of this case in my hands, not to mention it looks amazing with all this personal customization. If you want to check out these cases for your iPhone, 12 mini then head over to casting. com tech, and you will get 15 off your purchase, so apple decided to use an OLED panel on the iPhone 12 mini instead of LCD, and I'm glad that they went this route.

OLED tech looks great on this phone. It's a full 1080p, HD display and consuming content on this small form factor isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Color reproduction is fantastic. Brightness is great, even under direct sunlight and just consuming. Content overall is a pleasurable experience.

Surprisingly, the 12 mini has a great sounding dual stereo speaker setup. So, despite the small 5.4 inch panel, you still get that immersive cinematic experience when you are watching your favorite movies or shows on Netflix performance as expected from an iPhone, is still top-notch. Even after eight months, this phone still runs like its brand. New, the a14 bionic is an absolute beast. There is currently no application on the app store that can give this phone trouble, although if you do game too much like say a couple of hours per day, the battery life will take a hit, even though the a14 chipset can give you power when required and preserve power when is not needed.

The capacity of the battery found within the 12 mini is just too small. If you use your phone for a lot of gaming and media consumption, you will be lucky to get around 3 hours of screen on time off a full charge. I don't do too much gaming these days, but I do watch a few of my favorite YouTubers daily for about an hour, and I'm able to get around 5 to 6 hours of screen on time consistently over the duration of eight months. My battery health has only dropped two percent, which is not much of a drop off all things considering you know. What's a really underrated feature about the 12 series MagSafe, I feel like MagSafe got a lot of hype early on for its potential and then it sort of died off when max.

If accessories didn't come out, quick enough. Well, it's been over eight months now and let me tell you MagSafe tech is amazing. I use MagSafe for wireless charging every day, but there's also a plethora of unique masks of accessories now made by a lot of reputable third parties. This is one of my favorite massive accessories, it's made by sign, and it's a MagSafe wallet that can hold up to two cards and can transform into a stand which holds up your iPhone in any orientation. It's quite the unique accessory that has found a permanent spot on the back of my iPhone, also with mac safety.

I never have to worry about battery life on my 12 mini ever again. Because of this thing this is a MagSafe battery pack, it's small and compact enough to carry around with me, and it does use magnets to stick on the back of my 12 mini. This is a 3 000 William hour battery, and I made a dedicated video on this, which I will link for you guys right here. If you are interested in learning more, we need to talk about face ID. I was never a fan of face ID and the pandemic just amplified.

Those feelings to be completely fair apple did roll out an update where, if you use an Apple Watch, even if you are wearing a mask, your iPhone will unlock. The issue is not everyone who owns an iPhone has an Apple Watch, so this is a temporary band-aid. In my opinion, what apple needs to do is introduce an under the display touch ID sensor on the iPhone 13 mini. I truly do feel like touch ID is the way to go. The face.

I'd experiment is now over with the iPhone 12 mini you get the exact same cameras found on the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro minus a telephoto even on a smaller iPhone apple, isn't compromising camera quality, which is just fantastic to see. It's a lot of fun to capture pictures on the iPhone 12 mini. I mainly just use the primary wide angle to point and shoot. I don't find myself in too many situations where I need to switch to that ultra-wide, so my preference would have been a telephoto as a secondary lens, although unlikely I really want to see a pro version of the 12 mini featuring a wide ultra-wide and a telephoto lens. Furthermore, I think that would be perfect.

So with the iPhone 12 mini apple definitely went against the grain here they decided to test the market and see if a small phone would sell well and to everyone's surprise. Sales of the iPhone 12 mini have been a major flop, and here are some reasons why I think that is first off it was already a given that this phone wouldn't sell well in the Asian market. That market is obsessed with big smartphones, so a phone the size of the iPhone 12 mini naturally wouldn't sell well. Secondly, the price 729 dollars is actually quite fair for an iPhone of this caliber. The thing is: small phones have this common perception of being inferior? The average consumer probably has no idea that the 12 mini comes with the a14 bionic and has the exact same cameras as the bigger iPhone 12 and 12 pro.

I still think the 12 mini is a fantastic buy and if you were hesitant on picking up this phone before, I hope this video does give you some reassurance, don't forget to check out our channel sponsor mystify. You do get 15 off on the purchase of these leather cases, as always. Thank you so much for watching and don't forget to flex with your miniature phone tech.
