How ULTRA is the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra? - Review

Everyone knows Xiaomi pretty well, but not many of you were expecting to see something like this. This is the Xiaomi mi 11 ultra, and this is one of the best phones for the year. The idea here with this phone is that Xiaomi wanted to make maybe one of the best phones, if not even the best phone on the market right now, they're using all the top-notch hardware that they can find, and it features a snapdragon triple eight also. It features 12 gigabytes of ram and 256 gigabytes of UFS 3.1 extra, fast storage. This is maybe one of the fastest phones that I have been using for this year, not to mention that I have been testing the OnePlus 9 pro also the ROG phone 5, and this is comparing to them face to face, and it's not giving up about gaming and multitasking. I suppose that no one is going to doubt the capabilities of such a phone with such a hardware, because single high-end hardware that you can think of is in this phone and for gaming.

It is an absolute pleasure with the 120 hertz refresh rate and window 480 hertz sampling rate. It is perfect for gaming, no glitches at all. No stutters no lags, and the most interesting thing is that no overheating. I was playing Call of Duty and I didn't notice any overheating of this phone, and I'm happy about it, starting with the design. This is something very extraordinary for Xiaomi, because here we have an incredibly big camera bump and this camera bump actually can bother you in two ways.

First, it can bother you because it is glass, and it can easily be broken, and the second thing is that it's really, really big. I have to say that for the first two weeks that I've been using this phone, I was something like okay, I'm not so sure that I like this camera bump here, but as I'm using the phone more and more, I have to say that I stopped paying attention to this camera bump. Even when I'm holding the phone, my finger is below the camera and I have to say that I feel it to be really comfortable using the phone that way. The other thing is that this is maybe one of the heaviest phones that I have been using, because it's ceramic, and because of this camera bump, the ceramic body actually gives a little more weight than the glass but yeah. They decided to make it ceramic, and you have two color options: ceramic white and ceramic black.

Here I have the ceramic white. The front screen is covered with gorilla glass victors, but don't be fooled by the victor's thing: try not to scratch it and to hit it. The only two buttons that you have are positioned on the right side and therefore unlocking and locking the phone, and also for the volume controls here. I have to say that these buttons are really well positioned, and I don't have any problem with reaching them with ease one of the most important things about this phone is actually the screen. You have 6.81-inch AMOLED screen made from Samsung. It has a 1440p resolution, and it has 120hz refresh rate also.

Another interesting thing is that here you have 480 hertz sampling rate, which makes everything look so smooth and so good, and I have to say that this is a big thumbs up for me because of this screen. The peak brightness is 1700 nits, which is absolutely insane, and if I'm not wrong, this is the brightest screen on a smartphone. For now, you don't have to worry if you're going under harsh sunlight with this phone, because you are going to be seeing everything on the screen with no problem at all. Watching HDR video content is an absolute joy, because here you have HDR support, and it is absolutely great. You can find some really cool videos on YouTube that are supporting HDR and with this resolution I have to say that it is a big joy.

While talking about the screen, I have to mention the speakers here. You have stereo speakers certified by Harman Kardon, and I have to say that these speakers are not up to the level of the ROG phone 5, for example, but they're competing pretty well with the iPhone 12 Pro max here. The speakers are very loud one of the loudest that you can hear, and they are very crisp all the details. Are there's a little of bass? There is a little of spacing in this sound, but I have to say that these are still not the top-notch that I have been hearing. In my opinion and for my hearing, I think that the ROG phone 5 has better speakers than this, even that these are Harman Kardon certified.

I don't want to say that these are bad or something like this. Nothing at all. These are great speakers, but they have to be a little better for this price. I think the software is one of the parts that Xiaomi are not very good in their other phones, because you can see some advertisements in the software. You can see some glitches in the software, and things like this here you have android 11 with mini 12.

, and I have to say that this here is the most well optimized software that I have been using keeping in mind that I'm also testing other flag mods for other companies, and I have to say that yeah. This is one of the best pieces of software. For now, I have zero glitches. I had zero complaints about the software experience, because here it is very well tuned. It is very well optimized to the hardware, and it is working absolutely great, and I can totally understand that many of you are not going to believe this thing if they are using a Xiaomi phone or something like this uh.

If I was not using this phone and someone told me that the software is flawless, I wouldn't have believed in either, but I have to say that yes, this software here is very nice. You have some software features that you can adjust for the screen by the way, and I have to say that I do not suggest you to do this. There are some AI features that are going to optimize the picture, optimize, the HDR optimize, the colors and things like this, and I have to say that this is not okay, because these features are going to ruin your picture. I have been testing this, and I am not okay with the results that I'm getting, because it is changing the quality because it is changing the colors, and it is getting a little inconsistent. There are also some interesting things about this phone, for example that you have a fingerprint under the screen, which is not that interesting, but the feature that it is doing is interesting.

You can measure your heart rate with the fingerprint of the phone. For me, it was a new thing and I have to say that it was pretty accurate compared to my tick watch, 3 pro and yeah. It is a feature that is useful to have if you kind of want to measure your heart rate with the fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor is not that good. To be honest, I had something like 20 time that the fingerprint sensor is not working very well, and it's not unlocking the phone.

I don't know what's going on here. Maybe Xiaomi are going to fix it with a software update, but for now I'm not that satisfied with this. The camera system is one of the most marketed things about this phone, and it is like this because it has the biggest sensor ever put in a smartphone here you have an enormous main sensor with resolution of 15 megapixels. It also has an aperture of 1.9, and I have to say that this sensor is really, really good. Of course, there are some problems coming with big sensors with big pixels, because here the pixels are 1.4 micrometers, and they are allowing a lot of light to come in. The problem here is getting that the focus point is really, really small, and you can see a little of fringing while you're shooting a close-up object.

If the object is not flat, you are going to see fringing, it is inevitable. The auto light sensor is the most ultra-wide sensor on the market. Right now, with the viewing angles of 128 degrees, it is doing. Okay, the color consistency is not that good that I was expecting. But overall it is a nice sensor.

You have to know that you are going to lose a little of detail on the edges of the image, but otherwise, if you are going to zoom a little, it is okay. For me, it is a nice sensor, but uh. Maybe I prefer a little narrower view. The other main thing about this phone is the zoom capability. Here you have five times optical 10 times, hybrid and 120 times.

Digital zoom, 120, digital zoom, is something like okay yeah see. I have this zoom, you know, but when you zoom 120 times you'll be disappointed with the results, because the image won't be that good. As you are expecting, this sensor could be used up to 60 times.60 times is, okay, 30 is also okay, and maybe the sweet spot is between 10 and 30, and 120 for me is not that okay, the front-facing camera for this price is not okay. It is not that sharp. It is not that well detailed.

The colors are not that good, and the bad thing here is that you can shoot a video with only 1080p, which is insane for this price range, I'm not so happy with the front-facing camera, but maybe the guys from Xiaomi put this thing there, because they were thinking. Okay. Most of the people are going to use the rear screen with the cameras, so they can take a selfie. So this is a video sample from the front camera of the Xiaomi mi 11 ultra. In this case, I have a harsh light just in front of me, so it is sunset now and, as you can see from the shadows, the light is very strong, so the quality of the image is very good.

Biggest downside here is that for this price, you're getting a full HD video from the front camera, which is insane. I don't know what was in their mind, but this is a thing that I really don't like. So this video sample from the ultrawide sensor of the Xiaomi mi 11 ultra, I like the image quality. I like how stable everything is. I, like the dynamic range, also even that I think the dynamic range could be improved a little.

Furthermore, I think that it is okay, this video is 4k 30 frames per second, you won't see here, 6k 8k things like this, because the whole project is 4k 30, and this is what I want to show you now, and now we're switching to the main sensor to see how it goes there. Now you see the main sensor of the Xiaomi mi 11 ultra. The thing here is that I love again the image quality. Everything is okay uh. Sometimes the HDR is playing a little more than I would like to see and all the colors are so emphasized that not all the time I'm fully happy with it.

The thing that I want to complain about the camera is that in a video mode I cannot use the screen that is below the camera. I cannot use this little screen. That is such a marketed, part from Xiaomi, and I kind of see it pointless. You can use it when you are making a photo, but you cannot use it when you are filming yourself in a video mode. I hope that Xiaomi are going to include this option in a future update, but till now this is what you get from the video and about the rear screen.

Here you have a pretty nice OLED screen, which is actually from the mi band 5. This is the exact same screen here. It has touch capabilities, and you can read some notifications there. You can also check the time you can also check the battery status of your phone. The other thing that you can use is it maybe the most useful thing is when you are taking a picture with the rear camera.

If you are shooting yourself with the rear camera, you can use the screen to see yourself. The bad thing here comes with the video. You cannot use the screen for video, and really I don't know why this thing happens. I hope that the guys from Xiaomi are going to make some effort and enable the screen for video mode, because it is the most useful thing to see yourself while filming yourself with the main camera and yeah. I'm not that fan of the thing with the picture here.

So I hope that I'm going to see a video mode enabled for this screen there. The battery of the phone is 5000 William hours. You have 67 watt wire charging. You also have 67 watt of wireless charging. Furthermore, you even have reverse wireless charging, which is 10 watts, and I have to say that you can fill up the phone for something like 40 minutes.

It can also last you somewhere around six hours of screen on time if you are not using the camera, because the camera is a big consumer in this phone, and it will be draining the battery as hell. I can guarantee you this, so my overall conclusion is that the mi 11 ultra is a really nice phone. It's a really nice piece of tech with a great screen, maybe the greatest screen now on the market, with the huge camera with a huge camera bump. Of course, you have very fast wire charging. You have very fast storage.

You have very fast chip and uh. There are, of course, some controversies about this, like uh, the fingerprint sensor. That is not working that well like the front camera. That is not that high in quality, like the fringing of the sensor, which is obeying the lower physics, you cannot do anything there, because there is not enough room for optics here and the screen that is not being able to work with video. So guys.

Thank you for watching this video. I hope that you like it. I hope that you find it useful if it is so smash that thumbs up button subscribe to the channel, don't forget to ring the bell icon to see my next videos, and I'll see you in the other one bye.
