Google Pixel 5 Unboxing - Googles Mid Range Phone Which Is Also Their Flagship

Hi guys, and welcome back to the channel. I've got my hands on the Pixel 5 5G. Let's get it unboxed. I don't want to bore you too much with the specs because there's tons of these videos out there at the moment. But we do know is not rocking the latest Snapdragon chipset. It's the 765G.

Manuals, nice and neat. SIM Tray ejector tool on the back. And we have pretty much, similar to previous pixels really, 18 watt fast charger, USB to USB C charging cable, and the USB adapter for Type-C so OTG can plug USB sticks in there and whatnot, and transfer data from another phone. Notice there's no earphones in here. So that is all you get.

Here it is, I'm gonna turn it around. So I have the black variant, there is the Sage variant as well. And this texture is, quite different from the Pixel 4a that I reviewed recently, and there's a slight bit more texture to it, it's not as smooth. And the fingerprint sensor, feels slightly different. If I'm being honest with you, I think I prefer the feel of the 4a, the back of that.

But this does still feel really nice. It's recycled aluminum back as well. Obviously, with this coating, it's a full unibody. Let's take this off. Six inch display.

Yeah that does feel really nice. So it's 599 in the UK. And this I suppose, this is their flagship device. It's sort of a mid range sort of price really, compared to the the big hitters out there. So the camera setup on the back there, quite excited to test the ultra wide on this.

Alongside volume rocker and power. Notice the power button is not sort of like the quirky sort of colors, it just seems to be like a chrome metal power button on top. At the bottom we have Type-C connector, loudspeaker as well. And hidden there on the side is the SIM tray. And at the top, a tiny microphone hole.

Very, very simplistic design. I really love the way that that feels in the hand, it is slightly bigger than the 4a. Let's turn it on. Google. Okay, so here we are guys.

We can see the 90 hertz in action already, looks so much smoother. Really, really nice. So 90 hertz display, 6 inch OLED, smashing. The icons are crisp, excellent viewing angles, and this is the software. Android 11, clean.

Really, really nice. Let's just have a look at this back again. It is really, really nice; does feel so, so good. So, so good in the hand. So this fingerprint sensor then, I'm so glad that Google put a fingerprint sensor on the back.

In-screen fingerprint sensors, I'm not a fan of at all. They're not very reliable and they're not very accurate. Nice simple fingerprint sensor there on the back. Rapid, accurate, that's all you need. I don't think in-screen fingerprint sensors are gonna last.

Beautiful. So yeah, really got they nailed that, and they didn't copy off all of the other, all the other companies going in-screen fingerprint sensor. So closer look at these settings, storage, you have 113 Gigabyte free. So I haven't installed anything on here at the moment. That's what you get when you buy it and turn it on.

Obviously the Operating System is going to take up some storage as well. Look at that, beautifully smooth. Love it. System updates, It's on Android 11, the latest. So that's pretty good as well.

All up to date ,superb. Gestures, swipe from the side to go back. Hold on the middle, recent Apps. Yeah, lovely. Really, really love it.

Little bigger than the 4a, but again, fits in my hand like that. This is probably just the perfect size actually for me. So that reaches the top comfortably. Bottom, top. Yeah.

Absolutely perfect. The main thing with Pixel is, the cameras. So, we can have a quick look at the cameras in a moment. On the rear, so it's got the ultra wide lens as well. They're still rocking the 12.2 megapixel lens that has been in the last few Pixel phones, so including this Pixel 3 XL here. The Pixel 3 XL is there, crying in the background, seeing its competitor right in front, it's big, big brother.

Should I make the jump or not? We'll do a comparison, I think. The 3 XL has got a 2k screen. This has only got 1080p, but it's got the 90 hertz refresh rate, and I think that is a good trade off. Because I love that so smooth, I haven't had many phones with 90 hertz display so to me, this is quite new and fresh, and to a lot of people it will be as well. So 90 hertz is really nice.120, I'm sure, is a little bit better, but don't think I'm not gonna buy this phone because is not 120 hertz refresh rate. Unless you come from 120 hertz refresh rate smartphone.

Yeah, this is definitely good enough. Okay, so I'm in the camera section. I'm just going to take a normal photo. Yeah, really, really nice. Color accuracy, sharp.

Really good. Now let's try portrait mode. And again, you can increase or reduce the brightness, and adjust the shadows as well. Smart, just like you could do in the Pixel 4 as well which is launched. Now if you press again on the screen then the settings reset.

And you can, wait, you can lock actually. You can lock the settings there as well. Okay, shoot. Yep, superb, well there's a tiny little blemish at the top right hand corner if you can see that. Not 100% perfect.

Okay, let's switch to selfie camera. Now there's a window at back here. It's quite sunny out. So I think the camera seems to be doing a good job with making my face, and the camera, visible and in focus. So let's try portrait.

Yep, that is a decent job. Separated from the background. I'm going to do another selfie portrait with the window in front of my face. Now that is much better. Wonderful.

Let's switch to video mode on the rear. And we'll shoot in 4k 60. That's what it's set at. It's got Stabilization on and you can see that working already. Looks smooth.

Here we go. So Pixel 5, 4k 60 frames per second. And it's smooth, buttery, video. Look at that. Looks so smooth.

Pixel have upped their game in the video department by the looks of it. Yeah. Really, really impressed by this. Let me know what you guys think. Look at that.

Okay. Oh well, let's switch around to the front. It's only 1080p. Nothing too jazzy, just standard really.1080p, front facing video on a Pixel 5. Again, from the window... boom, boom.

Does a really, really good job there. And, now in front of the camera, you can see my hand just poking through there, but what do you guys think to that? This is looking good. Looking very good. Stupid hands in the way. Okay, so that was a look at the camera guys, and very, very impressed.

Definitely what I'd expect with a pixel smartphone, a little tiny blemish there on the portrait on that, but I'll let that slide. This feels like a proper premium device. Really, really good. And it's got a bigger battery than the Pixel 4 and the Pixel 3 XL, bigger battery in there. But they've managed to keep the phone relatively small and thin as well, which I think is really really good.

So now I'm going to show you some video footage and then we'll test the loudspeaker. Okay, so we've got a video on YouTube, It's full screen. It's 8k Ultra HD 60 frames per second, and we're at 1080p 60 frames. We can go to 1080p, full screen, that looks beautiful. Okay, super happy with the display.

Let's test the sound. So speakers on the Pixel 5, we have one loudspeaker at the bottom and we have one hidden underneath the glass at the top there. That's half volume. That's full volume. Let's cover the bottom.

Wow, that's quite... that's quite muddy, just with that one. So that's with the main loudspeaker covered. Now it's open. So afer listening to that, sound quality overall is good.

Absolutely is, but I can't really see what difference really that top speaker there, under the glass, is actually making. When I did cover that, yes, you can hear sound, but it's very, very muddy. Yes, and you're not gonna listen to this smartphone with that covered up and just the top. But I don't think it's really adding much of a, sort of stereo, you know, stereo sound to be honest. Very minimal sound quality, in the sound that is coming out there at the top.

The main chunk of it obviously, is at the bottom here. So if you center it obviously, in the middle of your head if you can, I've centered it there and you play it, The, your Psycho-Acoustics, I believe that's what it's called, you can you can hear it more from this side, around here. Yeah, if there's anything there, it's very very minimal at the side there. So yeah, no need for speaker there. What do you guys think? Love to hear your opinion down in the comments.

Okay guys, so that is the unboxing done for the Pixel 5. I will be coming with a full review. Any questions or anything you want me to add in the full review, then please let me know. First impressions are very, very good. Love the design, the way it feels in the hand.

Cameras obviously, excellent. Really, really good. Fingerprint sensor lovely, smooth, fast, responsive. The display, 90 hertz of beauty, smooth. The only little disappointment for me is the dual loudspeaker.

It's not really a dual loudspeaker. So that's it guys. Thank you very much for watching. Pop any questions down below. Give the video a thumbs up, subscribe, and join if you want.

See you later.
