What's going on everyone welcome back to the channel once again we're going to do another comparison of the newly released Google Pixel 3ei we're actually going to compare it to a phone that was also kind of its main competition. You know, I said the pixel to Excel was one of the biggest competitions too, but I think the Xiaomi polka phone is probably one of the best contenders to go against the Pixel 3a and I actually purposely went ahead and bought one for the specification of this video, so we're going to go ahead and see which one is pretty much the biggest bang for your buck. Now, there's some key differences between these two and honestly between me right now. I do have kind of a solid opinion on both of these phones, but I think they both kind of fill a void and in need of you, know the cheap phones in the marketplace and how some people might want a cheaper phone versus a more expensive one for the basis of their daily tasks. You know not. Everyone has like a thousand to two thousand dollars to spend on a phone, and sometimes these budget phones can really help enable some change in the marketplace too, because obviously the more expensive phones are getting better, but I want the cheap phones to be getting better as well, and I'm, actually pretty surprised about both of these phones, the pixel 3/8 and the polka phone.
So let's go ahead and see which one is the better value per dollar. Now the Google Pixel 3a, as you guys know, just got released literally like two days ago, but the polka phone was released in august 2018 now, what's surprising about that is that when this phone was released, people were going crazy. I was thinking about buying one, but I didn't I'm kind of regret it. But the reason people were going crazy about the polka phone was the price tag. You know at a time when phones were like thousand dollars or many thousands, even at that the polka phone was released with a very cheap price point and- and it didn't really like sacrifice in too many areas which is awesome.
Looking around both of these, the Pixel 3a has a 5.6 inch OLED display on the front. It is 1080p, whereas the polka phone has a 6.1 inch IPS panel on that one is also 1080p. Now, in my opinion, looking at both of these panels, I will probably give the edge to the Google Pixel 3a I think that panel is just overall better. You can't really match in all that display, especially against an IPS you haven't always on display. You have many things on an OLED display that an IPS panel just doesn't have now.
The polka phone does have a pretty good I PS panel at that, so that was really a good plus, but the Google Pixel 3a, in my opinion, has probably the better display in between both of these I think the polka phone does look better in the hand, there's still a little of Bessel on the polka phone, but the Pixel 3a, as you guys can see, does have noticeably more bezel on it, which isn't a bad thing. The Polk phone has a little of bustle on the bottom and then the notch up top so depending on who you are you might not like it, honestly. It kind of gives me the vibe of the pixel 3 Excel, except it's not the price of the pixel 3 Excel. So that kind of covers that. Looking on the back, we have fingerprint sensors on both of these phones.
I'll tell you right now, I think the polka fonts fingerprint sensor feels more premium. It definitely gives off the vibe. That is a pretty decent phone in terms of just the way it feels the pixel 3ei, not only just a fingerprint sensor, but just the overall phone itself feels noticeably cheaper than the polka phone I. Don't even think the polka phone feels that premium in my opinion, but I do think it feels more premium than the Pixel 3a. You also have a dual camera set up on the polka phone, where you only have a single camera set up on the Pixel 3a.
So that's kind of interesting right. There. People have strong opinions about the pixel camera, but I'll go into that whole entire thing. In a second. They both have headphone jacks that they both have USB type-c and, so there are some similarities between here.
In terms of just the way they kind of are presented, their budget phones and everything, but I do think it terms the way they feel and everything the polka phone feels more premium than the Pixel 3a, just by a little, not by like moons or anything, they both feel kind of cheap, but I. Think the polka phone takes the cake here now. Moving on to the software side of things, I think this is probably where the Pixel 3a has the biggest advantage right now. The Pixel 3a is on Android Pi. It's going to get Android q.
The polka phone right now is on Android Pi as well, and the main difference between here is that were comparing stock Android to an Android version that has a huge skin on it. I personally am NOT a huge fan of MINI, which is Xiaomi zone, UI interface. I. Honestly, don't like that interface, a lot like how I don't like Touch ID back in the day and I, don't like Huawei's UI, either I think between all of them I think stock Android is really, really good. My favorite software, though, is the OnePlus as oxygen.
Os. I. Think that's amazing Xiaomi is software, I mean you know it's a pretty heavy skin you're gonna, obviously notice that it's not like it's just subtle here and there it's pretty noticeable, and I think in a way it kind of bogs, the phone down in terms of performance I'll get into that in a second, but in terms of the longevity of them, which one is going to outlast. The other I am almost 99% positive. That Pixel 3a is going to outlast the polka phone by a landslide, probably, and the only reason, maybe why I might think the Pixel 3a might not is not even terms of stock software support, but in terms of just the development community behind it, because when the Xiaomi Poco phone was released, there was so much craze about it.
So many people went and bought it. That I feel like a bigger development community might be behind the polka phone than the Pixel 3a and I. Don't really get that sense behind the Pixel 3a I feel like a lot of people are going to buy it, but there's just not that much of a craze for the Pixel 3a than there was with the polka phone. But what I will say is that the Google Pixel 3a is a Google Pixel, so you're still going to have that huge development community behind it. So, regardless the Pixel 3a is going to outlast in terms of stock software support, but in terms of custom, ROMs and everything I, don't know where they really stand.
It's kind of like a 50/50 shot on both of them now moving on to the performance side of things, so the Pixel 3a has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset, an outscore CPU in Arena, 615, GPU and 4 gigs of ram with a googol Pixel 3a has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset in outscore CPU and Arena 630 GPU, and for the variant that I have. It has 6 gigs of ram. But you do also have a 256 gig variant that you can get. That has a keg so Ram, so, but for the basis of this video out of the 6 keg and here's the thing that I saw when I was doing my speed test between both of these I think both these phones are very sold in the performance sector. I, don't know why I said that's a weird, the poker phone honestly on paper.
It looks like it's faster than the Pixel 3a, but in terms of my app opening speeds and everything for the majority of the reasons, I think the Pixel 3a was faster, as you guys can see in the beginning, with the poker phone was kind of winning, but I think towards the end. The Pixel 3a was almost winning every single time, which was surprising. I wasn't expecting that, and I think that might have to do with the UI of the polka phone, because Xiaomi put their whole little UI thing on it. It kind of bogged it down in terms of performance. That's kind of my only theory that I have I feel like if it was on stock Android.
It might be faster, so it is kind of one thing to keep in mind when you're, comparing both of these phones in terms of performance is finding out the root cause of why a specific phone might be slower faster. Whatever the case is, and I feel like with the Google Pixel 3a I feel like the Google Pixel 3/8, it might be noticeably faster, but, like I always say it's not a crazy amount of difference. I! Don't really think you know you're going to get one over the other and because it's just that much faster. So that's kind of one thing to keep in mind whether you're, using the polka phone or using the Pixel 3a I, honestly think they're much bigger improvements than like the flagships that we had back in the day from like 2016 2015. So it's pretty surprising we're seeing an improvement there.
So I don't think. There's one phone that really stands out to me in terms of performance, but I think the pixel 380 might be the faster between both of these. In my opinion, now moving on to the camera side of things, so I honestly, don't know how you guys are going to feel about this, but that pixel 3 I had a 12 point: two megapixel camera, the poker phone had a 12, megapixel camera and the second sensor on it's 5 megapixels, and this is what I'll tell you: ok, I honestly, don't know why, and this is my opinion, it doesn't mean it's right or wrong. You might have a different opinion on it, but between both of these phones, I feel like the polka phone. Has the better camera to me in my eyesight and what I see, and the reason being is that I kind of favor colors that pop and I feel like phones like the Samsung galaxies I, feel like those cameras are better than like the iPhone counterparts, and some people think the iPhones are better, but it really just depends on how you take it.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, in my opinion, I feel like, even though the pixel lineup are supposed to be the best cameras here and there, and they're supposed to be whatever, from some reason between the Pixel 3a and the polka phone I feel like the polka phone might have the better camera sensor and that's not because it's a dual camera setup or whatever. It's just to me. The colors pop a lot more on the screen than the pixel 3/8, which is surprising because I thought colors on the O LEDs were supposed to pop a lot more. But if that's not always the case and I, don't think the polka phone is like a billion times better or anything. I, don't think the Pixel 3a has a bad camera at all, but I found that kind of surprising I feel like some of you guys, might find that interesting as well.
You can shoot 4k videos on both the Pop phone. You can shoot 4k at 60 frames per second, which is pretty cool. Are you ever going to use it? Who knows, but I'm definitely not going to use it, but I think that's pretty interesting out of itself the front cameras. We have an 8 megapixel camera on the Pixel 3a and a 20 megapixel camera on the pokey phone. So take that, however, you want to, in my opinion, I think both cameras are pretty good, but I might give the edge to the Polka phone, which sounds weird I wasn't expecting that.
But you know what it is, what it is and moving on to the battery side of things. They both are pretty surprising. I'll, definitely tell you. The Pixel 3a has a 3009 power battery. The pokey phone has a four thousand nine bar battery and here's the thing that's kind of interesting.
They both have no wireless charging, which is horrible, I, barely even ever used wireless charging, but I feel like phone manufacturers should keep putting perfect features, and they're, cheaper phones and I. Don't think a wireless charging pad would have been that expensive, but I guess it's whatever I will definitely say in terms of just the battery life side of things. I feel like the polka phone might win here, because it does have that additional one thousand nine-hour battery inside it. But here's the thing: the difference between battery life isn't that crazy between both of these I think the Pixel 3a, because it is stock Android. It has one of the best three thousand million barrel life battery life situations that you can have with the polka phone, because it does have a four thousand of hour battery.
It makes it that much better, but also the UI of it like I, said Shane's UI is pretty intensive in terms of the performance of a phone, and I'll just go ahead and tell you that the polka phone is just a little better, but not as much as you would think, because of that UI. So Xiaomi can just clean out their UI a little. That would be amazing, and I feel like the battery life of all. Their phones would actually increase as well. So those are kind of the main talking points I wanted to hit on.
One interesting thing, though, about the polka phone is that it does have micro, SD card slot expansion. So you can go increase the storage on your polka phone, where you do not have that ability on the Google, pixel 3ei and the polka phone comes in like three different storage of variants. So you can get the cheapest one if you want or the most expensive one. But if you get the cheapest one, you can just put a micro SD card slot in it, but with the pixel 3/8, you do not have the SD card slot, but on top of that it only comes in one storage of variant, which kind of sucks it's a 64 gig, it's not even like the 128 or something, so I, don't really understand what they were doing there. So it's kind of a thing you have to kind of consider right there, but to kind of sum up this whole entire thing and to kind of answer the question that between both of these, which one you should pick up.
This is what I will tell you. Okay, it fits between the cheapest model of both of these phones. I think the polka phone is a better value per dollar than the Google Pixel 3a, okay, you're getting micro, SD card slot expansion, you're getting, in my opinion, a better camera you're getting better battery life. The build quality is a little better, not by much, but it is a little. You know in my opinion, and it's $100 cheaper than the Pixel 3a on Amazon.
So that's for the base model. Of course, you can get the 128 gig model for three hundred nine dollars, which I would recommend more. It's only like ten dollars more and I. Think the polka phone is the better deal, but I don't think the Pixel 3a is a bad deal either. It does have some pros against the polka phone.
You have a better screen, it is OLED. You still have a very good camera, it's better in performance and because it's a pixel, it will have longer software support than the polka phone. But for the time being, I would probably tell you the polka phone is the better deal. I'm surprised this thing cost less than $300 the Pixel 3a cost 399. So that's kind of my opinion right.
There I'll leave a link in the description for a poco. If you want to go ahead and pick it up, it's a 64 gig model, but you can go and adjust. If you want the 128 I'll go ahead and leave the 128 gig model down there too. If you just want to go straight pick it up, but that is pretty much all I have to say.
