Evolution of LG K Series 2016-2020

LG's K series is a series of mid-range smartphones that work with the Android OS and is the first series from LG to offer a glossy pebble design language. The LG K10 was launched in January 2016 and has a 5.3-inch screen, works with a Snapdragon 410 processor, 13MP camera and a 2300 mAh battery. The LG K4 has a sleek design, a 4.5-inch screen and a 5MP camera. The LG K7 comes with a 5-inch screen, main camera and 5MP selfie camera and a 2125 mAh battery.

The next model, LG K8 comes with about the same design as the K7, only it has another processor and an 8MP main camera. The LG K5 comes with a design similar to that of the K4, has a 5-inch IPS LCD screen, quad-core processor, 5MP camera and is powered by a 1900 mAH battery. Compared to the K4, the LG K3 was launched in September 2016 and features a higher frequency processor and a VGA selfie camera. In 2017, LG launched new improved models of previous models from 2016. Thus, the LG K10 has design improvements and receives a fingerprint sensor on the back.

The LG K8 is enhanced with a new processor, a higher quality camera and a larger 2500 mAh battery. LG K3 has a different design compared to the 2016 model and comes with an improved 2MP selfie camera. In 2017 LG K4 model has a larger screen, 5 inches, 5MP selfie camera and a larger battery. Under the hood, the LG K7 comes with a new processor, 8MP camera with HDR and Panorama function and is powered by a 2500 mAh battery. The LG K30 was launched in 2018, is a budget phone and comes with a 5.3-inch screen with HD resolution, 13MP camera, 4G connectivity and fingerprint scanner. The next models launched by LG were K10 and K8, they have a similar design and stand out through the autofocus cameras and a function to improve the quality of photos taken in low light.

Other budget smartphones launched by LG in 2018 are the LG K11 Plus and LG K11 Alpha models. They have a similar design and hardware, the Alpha model being equipped with 16GB of storage space and an 8MP camera, compared to the Plus model which has 32GB of storage space and a 13MP camera. The LG K40 was launched in 2019 and features a sleek design with slightly curved edges, a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen, 16MP camera, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3000 mAh battery. The next model, LG K50 is equipped with a generous 6.26-inch screen, dual camera and is powered by a 3500 mAh battery. The S variant of this model has a larger screen, 6.5 inches, the second main camera is 5MP ultrawide, comes with USB Type-C 2.0 and a 4000 mAh battery. Also in 2019, the LG K40S model was launched, which is equipped with a 6.1-inch screen, wide wide and ultrawide camera. A device dedicated to the European market and part of the Android Go program, is the LG K20 model which has military certification, a 5.45-inch screen and a dedicated button for Google Assistant. The LG K30 also comes with military certification, 5.45-inch screen, 8MP main camera and 3000 mAh battery. In 2020, LG launched another generation of K-series smartphones and focused on the premium features of the camera.

Thus, the LG K41S was launched, equipped with a quad-camera setup, 6.5-inch HD+ screen, 4000 mAh battery, button for Google Assistant and DTS: X 3D Surround. The LG K51S comes with a 6.5-inch diagonal, 2.3 GHz octa-core processor and 48MP main sensor. Next we have the LG K61 which has a circular cutout in the screen for the selfie camera, under the hood it is equipped with a 2.3 GHz octa-core processor, 4 GB RAM and comes in variants with 64 or 128 GB flash storage. The next model, LG K31 is made of plastic, has a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen, works with a 2.0 GHz MediaTek Helio P22 processor, has a dual camera with 13 MP main sensor and a 3000 mAh battery. LG K22 is made of plastic, has no fingerprint sensor, comes with 6.2-inch IPS screen, military standard 810g protection and is gilded with 13 megapixel dual camera respectively 2MP macro. Also in 2020, the LG K71 was launched, which comes with an included stylus, is equipped with a 6.8-inch screen, triple camera, and the fingerprint scanner is positioned sideways. As for the next model, the LG K42 stands out with a slightly different design of the cameras on the back, and the back case has a ribbed texture.

The following models, LG K52 and LG K62 stand out through the generous screen they are equipped with, the quad camera with 48MP main sensor and on the outside they have an anti-fingerprint coating. About the LG K92 5G we can say that it is a fairly affordable 5G smartphone, it is equipped with a 6.7-inch FullVision screen, selfie camera cut into the screen, quad camera setup with 64 MP main sensor, side fingerprint reader and a 4000 mAh battery which is charged via USB-C.
