Coolpad Legacy - Is it Worth Buying?

Hi everyone- this is Kevin here and in this video we're gonna, be checking out the new cool pad legacy, so sit back, relax and enjoy the video follow me on Instagram at Kevin breeze TV. Please join the Kevin breeze tech community on Facebook to chat about budget smartphones, ask questions and help others. So I know many of you have been requesting that I covered this device on the channel, and I'm very excited to do that. Now. I'd like to thank Stephane over from tech right for loaning me his cool pad legacy so that I can do coverage of it on the channel. If you're not familiar with him, then definitely go over to his channel and subscribe.

He makes really awesome content that is relatively similar to what I do, but he gives his own unique perspective and twist on many of your favorite budget smartphones. Now the cool pad legacy is currently available on two different carriers in the US. You can find this on Metro by T-Mobile and Boost Mobile. Now the device is being offered at different price tags on those two carriers and there are also different promos going on for the two carriers as well, so at Metro by T-Mobile. The retail price for this phone is $1709.99. However, if you switch in from another carrier, then all you have to do is pay $29.99 and tax and the activation fee, and you can get this phone. So that's a really great deal if you're switching into Metro from a different carrier.

Now over at Boost Mobile, the retail price of this phone is 149 99. However, with the current promotion going on, you can get this for $99.99 now, you'll have to decide which of those carriers is best for you now, I'm, really hoping that in the future, we'll see a factory unlocked version of the cool pad legacy, because overall, it's a really awesome device, and I'm a big fan of factory unlocked phones, because you can easily switch carriers at your convenience. However, I have not heard any rumors that we will be seeing a factory unlocked version of the cool pad legacy, so that'd have been unfortunate, but maybe cool pad will surprise us in the future. Now this device features a very appealing design, especially considering its very low and affordable price tag. Now the phone features a 1080p display coming in at six point three: six inches: it has an ancient by nine aspect ratios and, as you can see, it does not feature a notch now.

I know that notches are a bit controversial, especially with those who watch my videos. So if you like notches, then you might want to look elsewhere, but if you're not a big fan of notches, then you're really going to like the cool pad legacy. Now the device does have decently large bezels on the top and bottom, but that is one of the compromises that comes along with buying a budget smartphone now. The good thing, though, is that, despite having these bezels on the top and bottom, the phone looks perfect overall and cool pad packs in a very large and good-looking display into this device. Now, if you're not familiar with cool pad, they've actually been in the US market for quite a bit now, but in the past they focused on really low-end devices.

So to my understanding, the cool pad legacy is one of the better devices that they've offered in the past few years and I hope that trend continues because they really nailed it with this phone you're, really getting a lot of value here for the money, whether you go with Metro or boost now up top here we have a 13 megapixel camera and on the back we have a dual camera setup with sixteen and five megapixel cameras. Internally, we have 32 gigabytes of storage, with the ability to expand that with a micro SD card on the back side, we have a fingerprint sensor and there is no wireless charging with this phone. We do, however, get portrait mode with this dual camera setup, which is really awesome, and you should look out for my full review video, where I'm going to be including photos taken with this phone now the device features three gigabytes of RAM and has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor. Now, if you've been watching my videos recently, then you've probably noticed that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 is the same processor. That's offered with the LG style five.

In addition to that, the LG style 5 also has 3 gigabytes of RAM, but it seems like performance with the cool pad legacy is a lot better, so I don't know what cool pad is doing to optimize the performance of their device here, but they're doing a very good job, because overall noticed very good performance with this phone video recording with the cool pad legacy maxes out at 1080p at 30 frames per second, and it does take decent videos. The device features a four thousand William hour internal battery, and you can actually charge this using quick charge, 3.0 technology from Qualcomm and finally, the software version of this device is Android, 9 Pi, which is the latest version of Android. So that's a really great thing to see now that we've gone over the specifications of the cool pad legacy. Let's take a closer look at the hardware, so I already kind of went over the front here. It does have that 1080p display.

At six point three: six inches with the front-facing camera: we have the earpiece, and we have the on-screen Android navigation buttons. On the left side, we have the slot for the micros card and SIM card. On the right side. We have the power button and volume rocker on the top. We have the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack and noise-cancelling microphone and on the bottom we have the speaker, the microphone and the USB type-c port. Now the phone does feature plastic on the back here, but it does look really nice, it's a polished plastic material, but it does feel decently premium.

It actually kind of reminds me of the back of the LG G 7, which is actually a phone that I recently picked up, and I'm going to be doing videos about that. Now, on the back side of that camera module, we have the flash, which is actually pretty tiny. We have the fingerprint sensor, and we have the cool pad logo. Now, from what I've heard, this device has been a very hot seller for Metro by T-Mobile, especially now it just was launched for Boost Mobile, so I haven't heard yet how the sales are going over there, but over at Metro. This is one of the top phones they have as far as volume.

Of course, they sell a lot of iPhones, but as far as Android phones go, the cool pad legacy is flying off the shelves at Metro by T-Mobile, and it makes sense, I mean the device has a very sharp and good-looking camera for both the front and rear, and the quality here with the front-facing camera is almost like comparable to something you'd find on a flagship smartphone. It's pretty amazing, so they've done a perfect job. Optimizing it portrait mode works really well too, and overall they've done a great job, implementing very nice cameras into this device. Now the display itself, as I mentioned before, looks really fantastic with awesome colors. So let's play a YouTube video and see how video performance looks on this phone.

Now, you do have the option to zoom the video in to fill up. The entire 18 by 9 display you'll have to decide which format you prefer, but videos are super clear on the phone and the speaker are actually surprisingly good as well. I feel, like the speaker, is very comparable to the quality that you might find with even a flagship phone. So that's really awesome. Now in the full review video I'm going to dive even deeper into the cool pad legacy, so I don't want to cover too much in this video, but I'm really curious.

What you'd like me to check out for the review and in addition to that I just want to know your thoughts about the cool pad legacy. Are you impressed with it? Were you familiar with the cool pad brand before this video, and would you buy this phone? Let me know down below in the comment section, but thanks again for watching this video.
