ASUS ZENFONE 8 FLIP Review ... Different and Fun! By Midnite Tech

So once again, this is me not tech, and today we're going to give it a low down on the ASUS before 8 flip, and you can decide whether this phone is for you. This is special because it doesn't have a camera, a selfie camera in the front. So how does it take selfie pictures? This is how he does it. So, let's talk about the physical design first, so this has a gorilla glass, six at the front right with a gorilla glass tree at the back, and it's got an aluminum frame. Other um nice design elements include the colored power button. The highlight of the phone will be the camera module here which has uh three uh lenses.

It's no selfie uh camera at the front, so you get a no punch hole. No notch display, there's a bit of chin at the bottom, not symmetrical top and bottom nothing uh fanciful, except for the camera module right. So it's very clean look, so it comes in two colors, so the one I'm holding here is called the glaces silver and there's one called the galactic black and the phone uh weighs quite a bit. It's about 230 grams got a bit of half. So let's talk about the screen.

This is a 6.67 inch display a Samsung AMOLED display full HD plus, and it has a 90 hertz refresh rate uh. It also goes up to about 1000 nits, so it's attractive enough display, and it supports a glove based touch as well with the 10 touch sensor point, and it also comes with an inbuilt fingerprint sensor. So you can see it here so now. The screen is off and turn it on able to press it down so like with other phones that are AMOLED and no tips, you would be able to have uh an always-on display, so it's a bit dim here, but you can see it. So it's a nice enough display nothing.

You know mind-blowing or whatever it is, but it's good enough. The display is crisp. It's high in its count, you're able to have good visibility uh, even in the under the sunlight as well so uh before we talk about performance, let's dive into the main selling point about this smartphone, the camera. First, there is a flagship, 64 megapixel main sensor, and the second one is the telephoto sensor, which goes up to about 8 megapixel uh, but gives you three times zoom. So you get a pretty good zoom with this um image.

Uh this uh camera setup and the third one uh, which is also important, is a 12, megapixel, ultra white sensor. So a very good combination of sensors and someone- and you can do some dynamic, uh camera modes here, so the highlight of this phone- I would say one of it. The first mode is the auto panorama. So when you do a panorama shot, you are actually able to do a panorama from a single take. Now this is uh unseen in any phone.

So if you like to take panorama shots, if that is your thing, you do not need to do this anymore, or this all you need to do is just so. You know just a one-time position, hold your hand, steady, and you're, able to take a glorious panorama shot all in a single take. This camera setup can take some pretty good shots, crisp and clean shots, and nice um nothing super stellar compared to other phones uh, but it's competent enough, and it has certain cool things that the other phones can't do and the aforementioned the panoramic shots yeah. You can take it in a single take, so that is just mind-blowing so um. As you can see here, I'm standing I was standing on the foot of a hill and able to take a single panoramic shot.

We just want to take that to me is just awesome setting as well for video taking uh. It's got some pretty important. Uh features that you may like, which tries to make this uh to differentiate itself right so front or back. You can take up to 4k and 8k resolution right. So that's the thing here: you're not going to deal with a compromise situation taking with a selfie camera or a reverse camera that doesn't exist here, because it's the same camera it just flips, so you can get up to a 4k shots but bear in mind there is a hyper, steady mode which gives image stabilization to your video shots uh, but that caps off at 1080p right.

The cool feature is the object, focus mode, so essentially uh you're able to lock into an object. So when you move that object, you will just stay focused on that object. Yeah, under low light does adequate job again. There are phones, uh, a lot of phones out there. You can uh, you know who can go to Toby either match the before 8 flip or even the better than this.

So it's in flagship class, but it's not really the best in the business. You take a lot of videos using the selfie camera, and you do panorama shots. Then you might consider this phone. So the other thing, of course is this- could be a conversation piece, it's kind of interesting because uh, you know everybody would be wondering what kind of phone is this. So now comes the performance and again this is powered by a triple a snapdragon processor.

So what it means is smooth sailing operation for all your apps gaming right. So it also comes with Wi-Fi 6e for stable and high-speed Wi-Fi connections, so the tech, the most powerful uh conversion processor, here uh very good uh display, as well as amazing cameras right and um. Just looking at the software experience as well, this is powered by zen UI and after spending some time with this phone. I tell you I really like the implementation of android for ASUS, because it's a very clean implementation. I don't see a lot of problems with the uh, the user interface.

Everything runs very smoothly, and it's very close to stock android. So if you want something very clean and not heavily laden with a lot of teaming a lot of you know, quirky things that are very present in like mini. You would appreciate the zen UI for his cleanness, and that is a big selling point of this phone is that it's got a very clean UI and moving on to the battery um. This comes with a 5000 my battery, so it's got 30 watts fast charging as well. So you can charge this phone up very quickly with the 30 watt, uh, fast charger and so 5000 my, depending on how you use your phone and, if you're, taking a lot of photos playing a lot of games, but if you can get at least one and a half days out of uh a single charge of this, there is no um dust or water resistance rating of this guy.

So it is not something that you want to get wet, especially with the camera module or the other cabinet you'll be a bit worried, taking shots uh with this camera. You know, you'll be a bit worried. Could you ever damage this camera right? So there will be some concern there doing this uh flip all the time yeah. So those are the caveats, but this phone. You would want to consider this first, if you think that the price range is good for you, just uh below 3000 ringgits below 750 us duh, which is a nice price.

It's not as attractive as like the Poco f3, which is about half its price and can do a perfect job, but for his unique selling points um, it's not expensive as the other flagships, and so you would. You would want this phone if you were really into a compromise, free front, rear camera situation and auto panoramas. If this is what you want, and this really attracts you to this phone yeah then uh. This is the phone for you. So that's one key uh unique point.

The second one is actually the media consumption itself so because you are going for a nauseous experience so watching videos on video consumption on this phone is a notchless experience. Media consumption is great because I can actually watch a video when I blow it up full screen. I don't see a notch at all. I don't see a control at all, so that is a cool experience.
