Asus ROG Phone 3 vs OnePlus 8 Pro - SPEED TEST!

Hi guys it's Frankie from Frankie tech and for the first time in a while on the channel, I bring you my speed test between the ASUS rog3 and the OnePlus 8 pro it's snapdragon, 865 plus versus the 865, and I want to answer the question: is there truly a difference between these two chipsets and so, let's get started with my first speed test between these two beast: phones, the ASUS rog3 and the OnePlus 8 pro alright guys, and so we're going to follow a previous speed test that I've done before so for various sections here, first, the app's loading section I'll be going through each of these applications and I will be awarding one point to the phone that opens the application first. Now, if it's very close or a tie, I won't be awarding any points and I will be keeping a tally here on my Redmi 10x pro of the score and to make this completely fair, I will be using 120 hertz, refresh rate on both of these phones, and you see no apps in memory, and I'm using Wi-Fi for this test. So, let's start with the play store in three two one, and I gave it here to the OnePlus 8 pro. It came in just slightly ahead here, and now we do settings and go, so that was identical, no points awarded to these phones gallery and go, and I give the slight edge there to the OnePlus 8 pro two points here for the OnePlus 8 pro camerae: three, two one very close there, too close to call. So I won't award any points here. So after the first row, the OnePlus 8 pro has a two to zero lead over the ASUS rog3 next row.

We have Spotify three two one, and it came in here on the ASUS rg3. So that's one point now for this phone now YouTube three, two one. Just by a hair, we saw it there, one plus eight pro. So that's three points for the OnePlus 8 pro twitters and go very close, but I do think it got in here on the OnePlus 8 pro just buy a hair four points for the OnePlus 8 pro Instagram and go, and it came in here first on the rog3. So one point two rows down four to two guys: let's keep going chrome and open, and it definitely jumped in there on the rg3.

So four to three, and now we're going to do an tutu and this one is special because I will not just load the app. I will run the benchmark as well and be awarding a point to the phone that gets in there first. So three, two one that was identical guys, so no points awarded there. But now we do the benchmark itself. Let's see which phone completes this first and go and there we go.

The ASUS rg3 finishes the test and look at that incredible score here. Meanwhile, let's wait and see when the one plus eight pro will finish there. It goes- and so one point awarded here to the ASUS ROG phone, three a hard fought point, but it gets the victory here, but that's not the only benchmark we're doing today. We're also checking out geek bench five. So, let's jump in and go and the ROG phone three got in first one more point, and here we go running the CPU benchmark in three two one very close to the end here, which phone will get there first wow an incredible result: the OnePlus 8 pro jumped ahead at the very end, so one point for the OnePlus 8 pro and guys we are tied now after three rows.

Now we continue with photoshop express three two one and that was pretty identical there. So I will not award any points, and now we're going to create a collage. Let's go ahead now and share this collage save to gallery and let's see which phone gets there. First, three two one and it got in on the rock phone three first one point awarded to the kg phone three, and now we get to the final section here: the apps loading the games. So let's go here with sonic boom, two three, two one very close, but you know what it was so close there that I'm not going to award any points and now Alta's odyssey in three two one very close here, and it looks like yep right on time, though, but it was very close, but the ASUS ROG 3 got in first.

So one more point for the rog3, and here we go guys now Call of Duty, and we'll see which phone gets to the start. Page. First, three two one go and there we go almost there and wow guys what a big difference that was between these two phones- and here you see the true power of this ASUS rog-3, so quite a bit faster there. So the eighth point awarded to the rg3, and now we wrap up the absolution section with the heaviest game of all PUBG mobile. Here we go in three two one and there it is.

It has gone in all right guys so because I was trying to get on the same account. The OnePlus 8 pro is finally in and now the kg 3 is logged out. But despite that, the rg3 did get in to the main page before it, so I will award it here that point number, nine and as a final test, let's see which phone gets into a game first here on PUBG mobile, so in three two one and there we go, the rg3 jumped right in ready to go and now the OnePlus 8 pro finally catching up and there we go. But that is a big separation there between those two. So the tenth point here for the ASUS ROG iii.

So after the apps loading, we see a sizeable lead here for the ROG phone three. It did very well in benchmarks and in loading games. Now, let's talk about ram management and both of these versions of the phones are the 12 GB versions. So this should be as fair test as possible. Let's start with pub g we're going to go backwards here, and I will be a warning point if a phone has the app in memory, but if both don't know points awarded and if both do then no points awarded.

So let's start with PUBG. Here we go there. We go, both phones have the app in memory, no points awarded Call of Duty and surprising result. Here. It looks like the OnePlus 8 pro is still logged in, while the ASUS ROG phone 3 is not, so I'm going to award a point here to the OnePlus 8 pro now.

Ultra's odyssey looks like both apps in memory. No points awarded sonic boom, and it looks like they had to reload there. So I'm not awarding any points here. Photoshop express both apps in memory, no points awarded geek bench, both thousand memory, no points awarded and two and looks like both phones had to reload the app so no points awarded chrome, and it looks like both phones, possibly reloaded there, but no points awarded Instagram looks like they reloaded right there. So no points awarded twitter, and it looks like they did have to reload.

No points awarded YouTube. It's loaded in memory, no points awarded Spotify surprising result. The OnePlus 8 pro kept it in memory and the ROG phone 3 did not. So that's one point for the OnePlus 8 pro: can it catch up here in these final apps? Let's have a look. Camera looks like both phones reloaded the camera, so no points awarded gallery both apps in memory.

So no points awarded settings both apps in memory, no points awarded and last but not least, here play store and go both apps in memory no points awarded, and so after the apps loading and ram management sections, we have a score of 10 to 7 favoring, the ROG phone 3. But a few final points here to be awarded: let's go to the fingerprint scanning test. So here are the fingerprint scanners and let's do it in three two one, and it looks to me: let's do that again, three, two one that the OnePlus 8 pro is getting in three two one: it's getting in before the ASUS ROG phone, three just by a hair, and I think it's significant enough to give the OnePlus 8 pro another point so eight to ten. Here and last but not least, we wrap up this test with a reboot test of both of these phones, so we're going to restart three two ones. There they go there.

It is the OnePlus 8 pro came in a little ahead here of the kg phone 3 and gets its final point for this test, and while these phones are booting up, that is it guys and let's look at the final tally here and with a final score of 10 points to 9 the ASUS ROG phone 3 wins this speed test a very close race, and there were a number of areas here where I think the optimizations of OnePlus have really made a difference in oxygen OS, and you especially notice that in the day-to-day apps the OnePlus 8 pro did a solid job. It struggled a bit more against the 865 plus here on some benchmarks and in some games, but in ram management. I think the OnePlus did a better job because it closed the gap. Here, fingerprint scanners were very similar, but I gave the edge to the OnePlus 8 pro and in the reboot test. The OnePlus 8 pro also had an advantage.

I think the conclusion is while on paper there is a separation between the 865 plus and the 865. Very few of you will actually notice the difference and I guess that's good news for all the current 865 phones out there. You shouldn't be too worried about the speed increase here with the h65 plus, but obviously other factors like refresh rate and battery life will make the ASUS ROG phone 3 still a great choice for many of you, but hit me up in the comments 865 or 865 plus, which do you prefer and do you think any other phone is going to beat the ASUS ROG phone 3 in a speed test this year. Hit me up in the comments, I'd love to hear about it, and that's it for this video.
