Apple Watch Series 6 vs SE vs Series 3: Which Apple Watch Should You Buy?

This year, for the very first time, apple introduced, two new watches for 2020 the series 6 and the new low-cost Apple Watch. Se's apple also kept the series 3 in the lineup, as an even lower cost option. Now it's time to tackle the age-old question of which Apple Watch should you buy before we get started, be sure to subscribe and hit the bell to get notifications. Whenever we share a video now this issue to me, it seems easy, but I have to try and tackle as many scenarios as possible, because what everybody wants in a smartwatch or what their financial situations are, etc. It's all different, so I'll do my best to cover the most common scenarios in choosing a smartwatch, but ultimately these are just my own thoughts and at the end of the day, you do you now with that said, the series 3. For me, it's a no-go.

I just don't see the benefit of having a much older watch, both in terms of hardware and the design. The series 3 starts at 199 dollars, but for an extra 80 you get the new Apple Watch, SE, which has a much faster s5 processor and the larger display footprint, which just looks a lot nicer when compared to the series 3. Now 80 can be a lot of money. But for me, if you can afford both and are wondering if it's worth the upgrade to move up to the SE, I think it's definitely worth the extra cash not to mention who knows how much longer the series 3 really has in terms of getting the latest watch OS updates. It could very well receive a limited version of watchOS 8 next year and then no longer be supported the following year.

The she should last you for quite some time and if you want a solid smartwatch experience to go with your iPhone, but you don't need all the flashy features like an always on display, ECG or blood oxygen monitoring that you would get in the series 6. I would definitely consider the watch SC now I do want to mention that the watch SE only comes in an aluminum casing, and so, if you do want a more premium, stainless steel or even the titanium you'll have to shell out a lot more cash and bump up to the series 6. Obviously, if you have a series 4 or series 5, there are very few reasons if any, to really switch to a SE for series 4 and series 5 owners, you're, probably thinking well what about the new series 6 and is that worth upgrading to well? This one is even more tricky than the last, because each person is obviously different, but again I'm going to try to break down some reasons why it might be worth upgrading if you own a series 4, and you think, having an always-on display, seems cool, which again I really do like having an always on display. I can't really imagine going back to not having one. So if you think that's cool and maybe the new blue or the product red or even the updated gold color looks worth it to you, then yeah go for it, although I personally don't think those are some major reasons to warrant and upgrade.

But I guess I could understand. The series 6 also offers up a new blood oxygen monitoring feature that can measure you by using a combination of LEDs and the four photodiodes on the back of the watch to measure light reflected back from blood to determine its color. Now bright, red blood has more oxygen, while darker red blood has less. You can even do a reading on command or check the health app for its periodic readings that happen throughout your day, for you, hiking fans there's also an always-on altimeter for accurate readings, while on long strenuous hikes or if you're just really into altitude- and you want to know what your current altitude is at all times. Well, you have that feature available.

While I do think these features are pretty cool. If none of them to you sound particularly interesting, then it's probably worth waiting for next year's 2021 Apple Watch. I think the same theory even more so can definitely be applied to series 5 owners. I really don't see many compelling reasons why you should upgrade to this watch unless you're worried about your blood oxygen levels, and you really could benefit from having this feature again. Keep in mind this, isn't a medical grade, blood oxygen monitoring system, it's going to give you a decent representation of what things might be at, but don't expect 100 full-blown doctor's office level accuracy.

Now, if you still really want that feature, I really do think it's probably worth upgrading to. If you're worried about your health- and you think that's going to make you feel better, then yeah definitely go for it, but any other reason uh. I don't really think it's worth going from a serious five to a series six. I would just wait for next year's model. For those of you who are curious about my thoughts on the new braided and solo loop watch bands.

I know a couple of you guys asked me about that. I will say that I really like both of those new bands. The braided loop is probably my personal favorite, as it looks just much nicer than a plain rubber watch band, and it's extremely comfortable. I know there have been some sizing concerns for some of you out there, but if it helps I measured between a size, 9 and a size 10. For the solo loop, I went with a size 10, and it fits perfectly with the braided loop.

I went down a size with the size. Nine the size 10 would have been way too big. I also just got a new rugged strap from nomad, that's incredibly comfortable. It seems a bit more durable, at least to me than the standard rubber sport band from apple or even the new solo loop. It comes with a nice stainless steel finish to the lugs and the buckle and is, of course, water resistant.

I really like the rugged look and durability of this band a bit more than some other traditional sport bands out there, and I think it also looks and feels a bit more premium, which is good, because this band is the same price as a traditional sport or solo loop band and could be a good alternative for some of you out there. To sum it up, I'd avoid purchasing a series 3. If you can, the Apple Watch. Se is probably going to be the most popular option and one of my personal popular recommendations for those who ask me about which Apple Watch they should get, and they don't really care about getting the latest and greatest, and it's probably going to be the perfect watch for you out there. If you don't need any of the advanced health monitoring features like the ECG or blood oxygen monitoring, I'd avoid a series 6 altogether, unless you really just can't go without that fantastic blue color that you see here or the blood oxygen monitoring system with.

That said, I would love to know your thoughts in the comments down below which Apple Watch. Did you go with? Are you planning on picking one up go ahead and let me know all of that in the comments down below this has been Dan with mac rumors thanks so much for watching, and I hope to see you around in the next video?.
