Apple Watch SE One Month Later Review: a Lot of Love and a Little Hate

Hey, what's up everyone thanks for coming back and checking out another video today I wanted to just do a one-month review of my experience with the Apple Watch. Se, I have some things that I really love about it, just a couple that I'm not thrilled about. So I thought I'd just cover that for anyone that might be considering it so a little background. Why I purchased this because there's probably a couple different reasons why you would get an Apple Watch, but for me, it was more about the activity tracking I'm trying to be more healthy in my life and the ability to see how active I'm being seen how many calories I'm burning and something that will continue to motivate me to work out is the reason why I purchased this and while that is the main reason, I also wanted to get the instant notifications on my wrist to see. If I have to respond to something right away, I wanted to have something that was kind of an extension of my phone, so that if I wanted to keep my phone plugged in upstairs, I could just put on my watch and respond to texts or calls or see any sort of emails that I might be getting and that sort of thing so that part was very intriguing to me as well. Now, the reason I went with the SE instead of the series, 5 or series 6, is a couple different reasons and the main one being price.

Obviously it's cheaper than the other two, but the only thing that it really lacks in terms of features compared to the other. Two is the always on display. Now for me that wasn't a big deal, I'd totally find just moving my wrist up to see the time and having it turn off. When I'm not looking at it, I don't really need an always on display or want it to be perfectly honest. Also, it doesn't have the EKG sensor, like the series, 5 or series 6 does again.

This was something that I thought was cool, but wouldn't necessarily use a lot, so I didn't feel like I really needed it or wanted to pay extra for it. The last is the oximeter that is on the series 6 to measure the amount of oxygen in your blood. Now I personally bought an oximeter a while back, which is just a little finger sensor that you can get on Amazon for really cheap. So, if I ever feel like, I need to measure that I can instantly do it using that product. So again, it just was another feature.

I didn't really feel like I needed so, if you're, okay, not having those features that I mentioned like I was the always-on display, the EKG and the oximeter. You can save yourself a couple bucks and get the Apple Watch SE and still get a really, really great watch. It looks the exact same as the series five and series six has a terrific display just like they do it's superfast processor and has all the other features. So the other thing you have to decide is whether you want the LTE version or just the Wi-Fi and GPS version. Now I went with the Wi-Fi and GPS version, because I view this as an extension of my phone, meaning that I think I'll always have my phone within Bluetooth range of my Apple Watch like I'll leave it on the charger and then go do something around the house, and that is fine.

But if I actually go somewhere or leave the house, I'm always going to bring my phone with me just because I don't want to get somewhere and all of a sudden realize that I need my phone for something and I don't have it and I have to try to do it on my watch on a tiny display. So that's my reasoning for it. I think I'll always have my phone with me if I go somewhere outside the house, but I like the fact that I can just leave my phone on the charger when I'm home and then just put on my watch and go. Do whatever I'm doing go work in the basement go outside in the yard and instantly get notified when I have a text, an email, a call anything like that, and I can decide whether I need to go grab my phone and use my phone to respond to it or I can just ignore it or anything like that. So after using the Apple Watch SE for a month now, I have to say it's everything that I expected and wanted it to be.

First and foremost, it tracks my fitness very well. It tracks all my calories that I've burned tracks all my workouts that I do it is very accurate. I used to wear a heart rate, monitor, and I've compared that to the heart rate, monitor on the Apple Watch, SE, and it's extremely accurate it'll suggest that I get off my butt and do something if I'm falling behind my goals. So it is motivating- and I like that about this- I also like the heart rate data that I get I mean like. I said it doesn't get the EKG, but it'll tell you.

You know what your resting heart rate is. What your heart rate variability is what your recovery rate is and all that is very important data to really understand how fit you are and how your cardiovascular system is operating. I also like the sleep tracking on this. Now the sleep tracking itself is pretty bare bones when you compare it to like Fitbit or Garmin, but it does give you kind of the data that you're. Looking for how long you slept for what your heart rate did during your sleep, you can kind of get good details off of how well you slept based on that, and then you also have some options to set schedules so that you can set what time you hope to go to bed and then what time you want to wake up, and during that time, it'll shut off notifications.

It'll tell you hey it's time to go to sleep, or this is the time that you wanted to go to sleep at, and you have the option to wind down before that too. Where basically it'll put the watch on silent so that you don't get notification to kind of try to wind you down and try to get you to sleep a little easier now, some stuff, you may think, is kind of gimmicky, but I do like setting the schedules. I like the watch to notify me when it's the time that I said I wanted to go to bed because I may be working. I may be watching a TV show and a lot of times I get caught up in those things, and I look at the clock, and it's way later than I expected to go to sleep. So it's kind of nice to have that notification and speaking of notifications, that's another big reason why I wanted to get this watch and why I love it so much now you can get notifications with just about every smartwatch on the market, but in order to respond to those, if you're an iPhone user, you're going to have to get an Apple Watch, and you can kind of say what you want about that fact.

But I love the ability to answer text using my voice or sending a quick reply or answering a phone call using my rest. I think this really comes into play when you have you know: small children, it's really tough when you're watching them to quickly run and grab your phone to do these things, so the ability to do that right on your wrist is a huge plus. It's also great for all of us now that are working from home being able to get emails right on your wrist, because, again you get caught up doing stuff when you're working from home you're, not always sitting at your desk. So if your boss calls you or quickly emails, you get that notification right on your wrist. You run back to your desk, and you can answer it quick.

So that's another huge plus. For me, the other things I love the screen is beautiful. It's bright, it's very responsive, and I think it's the perfect size and weight for my wrist. I have the 44 millimeter overall. I think they did a great job of engineering this product and everything's super snappy.

Now I had the original Apple Watch, one when it came out and compared to this it is night and day how much faster this is now part of that is the software too. Obviously, they've been optimizing. The software on watch OS, but the processor on the Apple Watch, SE superfast super snappy, I'm no longer waiting with a spinning bar for most things. It happens right away now, there's just a couple of things that I'm not super thrilled about with this purchase and the first one has nothing to do with the watch itself. At all.

It's about the model that I bought. I bought the one with the rubber solo loop on it, and I have some issues with that solo loop and my issues has nothing to do with sizing or fitting at all. I actually got one that I felt was the perfect size, and it has just the right amount of tension sits on my wrist nicely. Furthermore, I don't feel like it's too tight, but I also don't feel like it's too loose, so I like the fit it's just that having a thick rubber band, pressed against your skin like that for hours and hours on end, not allowing that specific area of your wrist to breathe has caused some redness and some itching underneath the band on my skin. Now I do work out with this watch almost every single day, so there's definitely some precipitation.

That's getting underneath there that's trapped and probably causing the irritation, but you know when you think about it: to have a piece of rubber pressed against your skin for hours and hours on end, not letting your pores breathe. I feel like that's just kind of a recipe for irritation of the skin, for a lot of people. Maybe it's because I have sensitive skin. I've never really thought. I've had sensitive skin before this, but I can definitely feel some itching some redness underneath this band.

If I don't take it off every 6 to 12 hours and again, this isn't a knock on the Apple Watch. Se itself, it's a knock on the solo loop band and the specific model that I bought. That comes with the solo loop. So if you're considering getting that model that comes with the solo loop, you may want to consider getting something a little more breathable. But again that's completely up to you.

One other thing I'll mention is that battery life, while it has come a long way since the first Apple Watch still is not all that great. When you compare it to the other smartwatches that are on the market, I'm only getting about a day and a half, maybe two days if I really push it of usage and that's with at least a half hour, 45-minute workout in there sleep tracking and then wearing it all day, and it's sometimes tough to find time to charge this thing, because you want it on your wrist all day for notifications and activity tracking, and then they finally added sleep tracking on there. So that's a nice feature that you want to take advantage, so you want to wear it at night. But again, this thing doesn't have the battery life to do this for days on end, so you have to find times to charge it which can be difficult. Sometimes.

However, the nice thing is that it does charge up nice and fast. So if you can find a half hour here there or an hour to put it on the charger before you go to bed, you'll get enough juice to make it through the night or make it a couple more hours. So that's the nice thing about this. However, I really do wish that we could get two three days of usage of this without having to charge it so to wrap this video up guys after a month of usage with the Apple Watch, sea gain it has met and exceeded my expectations, I'm very happy with it. I'll get a new band, and it'll be just fine battery life.

Again, it's just something you kind of have to get used to charging when you can, and it may not be 100 charged all the time. But at least you can get that quick charge for half hour to an hour and get enough juice to get you through the day. So overall, I'm extremely happy with this thing. It's kept me active. It's given me more insights about my health and my heart, which is extremely valuable information when you're trying to stay healthy.

Furthermore, it's kept me more connected, especially like I said when I have a two-year-old that's running around, and I can't run and grab my phone to look at it for more than a second at a time. So if someone needs to call me or get a hold of me, I have my watch on me and I can quickly look and respond to things while keeping an eye on my two-year-old. So I mean overall, like I said, extremely happy with this, so if you're, okay without those features the always-on display the EKG and the oximeter save yourself, a few bucks buy the Apple Watch. I see you won't be disappointed in fact, you're going to love. It again guys thank you for watching the video make sure you like to subscribe and comment, and I'll catch.

You guys on the next video you.
