5th Gen iPad Review in 2020! - Still a Good Buy?!

What's happening guys its RJ here, and this is the 2017 fifth generation iPad, not the iPad pearl, not the iPad Air, just a nine point. Seven-inch iPad- and this iPad was my main go to for about a couple of years until I recently decided to upgrade to a 2018 refurbished iPad. Pro I made it video about how my experience has been thus far. So if you guys want to check that out, I'll link it down in the comments below, but let's talk about the 2017 iPad and why I think it's still a viable option for anybody who's, considering picking up an iPad for just leisure use, which pretty much includes multimedia consumption, playing a few games and getting a little of work done if you're, looking for more of like a Productivity type iPad and you are on a budget, I would definitely recommend the 10.5 inches seventh generation. iPad I think it's a great buy for anybody out there, who's looking for their first iPad for work-related purposes, I've made a full review on the 10.5 inches budget iPad already. So if you guys want to check that out, also like that in the comments below but quickly before we do begin.

If this is your first time here on this channel, I would really appreciate, if you guys to take a few seconds to leave a like down below and subscribe to the channel, because that would go along with helping me out produce better content for you guys Kelli on Amazon. This iPad is going for three hundred ninety dollars, Canadian and I honestly think that's a bit too much for this iPad I would probably try to get a use one for around $200 Canadian. If you do look hard enough, you may be able to find some deals for anybody. Wondering 32 gigabytes should be enough if you're only planning on using this for streaming content on this beautiful LCD panel playing a few games and do some light work on Microsoft Office. But if you do feel like you need a bit more storage, there is also 128 gigabytes buried available similar to previous generation iPads.

The design is also very familiar. It has a metal body that feels smooth to the touch and I think it still looks great with the rounded corners in this base. Gray, color, the front bezels are a bit big. It is a little thicker and heavier than the iPad Air 2, but nonetheless, it's still easy to hold in the hand and watching media is a pleasant experience. Portability wise this iPad is great.

It weighs in at just one point zero three six pounds: it fits into any small backpack, and it's easy to carry around one-handed. There are no smart pick connectors for attaching a keyboard, but you could connect a Bluetooth keyboard if you want to use it for getting some blank work done, I've been pairing the iPad with this Logitech keyboard for years now it's the K, 380, and I think I got it for around $30 I'll leave a link to it down in the description below its almost a full size keyboard with some good key travel, and it's portable enough to fit into your backpack, along with your iPad. The 2017 iPad does have a whole budget with all the screen featuring touch ID. All right, I, don't really like it. It only works about 50% of the time, and it's got stiffer throughout the year.

So it's a bit hard to push down on I, just stick to using a simple passcode for now. Instead of relying on touch ID, the display, on the other hand, I think, is pretty good. It's featuring a nine point. Seven inches right now display with the resolution of 2048 by 1536. That gives you around 264 pixels per inch, which, for reference, is a same resolution as the 2017 iPad Pro models.

The screen does get better than previous generation. iPad models and I haven't had any issues with visibility due to the screen not being bright enough. Currently, my iPad is running iPadOS. Thirteen point three point one. So you do get that same familiar software experience across all iPads, even including the newer iPad pros and here's some pretty good news.

This iPad is expected again iPad or as fourteen which you have to really appreciate about Apple, no matter what hardware you choose, you are most likely to get software support for the many years to come. Speaker setup on the 2017 iPad is also very good, but now that I had the 2018 iPad Pro for reference, you can definitely tell it's not as good as a speaker is found on an iPad Pro, but it's still good. Nonetheless, here's a quick speaker test for you guys also if you are looking to buy an iPad for some casual gaming. This is a great buy. It's running, Apple's, a nine tip set which was first introduced in the iPhone 6s, but still a kid would ship out, even in 2020, it's not the best performing iPad on the market with only two gigabytes of RAM, so you do notice a few frame drops and a bit of stutter when you do try to play higher graphic, intense games for casual everyday use, though this iPad will be able to handle most things that you do throw at it.

I did find it to struggle a little when I try to multitask between productivity apps, but apart from that, you'll most likely be satisfied with how everything works and how fast everything loans in terms of battery life I'm still getting the standard. Ten hours of screen on time found across most live hands. This is equivalent to around five movies in a row. What the bite is suggested to around half iPhone gaming on this iPad 2 drained battery a bit quicker, and it does tend to overheat, but for day-to-day usage, this iPad will be able to offer you a few days worth of battery life with small amount of usage for about a month. I was just using this to watching YouTube in my bed at night and I did have to charge you for a few days.

Overall there we are, we do have an 8 megapixel camera, but I doubt anyone is gonna, be using the rear camera for taking pictures. So I don't want to bore you guys, diving into too much detail about the camera. But just the case you are curious. Here are some sample shots that I took I, do know that a lot of people use a front-facing camera for taking selfies and voice calls, and on the 2017 iPad we have a 1.2 megapixel sensor. The sensor size isn't that impressive, but it's not bad for voice calls and FaceTime.

Here's a sample of my quality and what you guys expect from the front-facing camera in terms of quality, respect so starting out piece so who do I recommend this iPad for if you've never owned a tablet before and are looking to pick up an iPad for some simple tasks like gaming and consuming content and even getting a little of like work done. This iPod is great, but do not buy this iPad if you are looking for a portable productivity tool, if that's the case for you, I would highly recommend the 10.59 seventh generation. iPad I made a video all about that once again, I will link it in the comment below or if you do have the budget, for it go with the 2018 refurbish iPad Pro like what I did as always. Thank you guys so much for watching. If you made it till the end of this video type, hashtag flex with your attack in the comments down below I, just want to know who you guys are with that being said: I'll catch you all in the next one, as always, don't forget to flex with your tech.
