Sony Xperia 1 Unboxing and First Look

Sony hasn't really been a major player in the smartphone market as of late, but this one right here really does offer something unique, and we're going to discuss that here and my Sony Xperia 1 unboxing and first look coming up. Let's go, so what is up guys Nick here, helping you to master your technology and welcome into the Xperia 1 unboxing? Now, first, I have to say right off the start. I, don't think this box really gave me the impression of being a premium smartphone, it kind of looks pretty standard. It's not really wrapped in plastic and I can see a few scuffs here and there from shipment. So if you just see in this box, you probably before I'm thinking- that's just another smartphone, because to me honestly, it just looks kind of basic now on the back. You can see at the bottom.

It does say we have a triple camera here: 12 megapixel, plus 12, megapixel plus 12 megapixel super excited about that, because this can shoot cinematic video. Also, we have an 8 megapixel front camera, not the most impressive. With that size, 4k HDR, OLED, trying luminous Sony display. So this, like the only smartphone coming out in 2019, that's going to have 4k display. Now you would think what all of them specs 3300 William hour battery.

That's all you're getting here: Qualcomm Snapdragon, a 55, not the 855 plus, but the 55 like in the s10 plus, for example- and this is IP 65, slash, IP, 68, water resistance. You can see NFC Bluetooth micros card and, of course, Wi-Fi. Of course, we should have Wi-Fi on a smartphone. So that's about it, just Xperia one on the side up at the top. You have some UPC codes because Barry one at the bottom and that's about it.

So, let's get into the box itself getting a little rusty the knife there we haven't unboxed in a while. So let's go ahead, just one tab, so just that one tab, and we can go ahead and open up the box here of the Sony Xperia 1. Now this phone does come in two different colors. We do have a black color as well as a purple color. Of course, I'm going to go with that clean black color.

Now, I really like the look of this device, because it's like really shiny, really glossy black color reminds me of that note. Eight that came out in black very nice. Look there triple camera vertical depends on whether you like a vertical or you know. A bump camera like coming to the iPhone 11 will see 21 by nine cinema wide display. Wow, that's gonna, be a really different and unique experience versus all the other.

Sixteen by nine 18 by 9 different smartphones out there. This is a different aspect ratio so revealing some other contents within the box. Let's see what Sony did give us here, and it looks like we got some safety guidelines. Burring I, don't want to see that Nick get to the darn phone already nothing in their over here looks like we have a headphone 3.5, but I didn't see a 3.5 on the Sony headphones to see what they look like really quickly. So you can see right here.

Some Sony headphones I, don't know if everybody's gonna care for these tiny headphones, but I think they're pretty neat to include them in the box, and it doesn't fit your ears here. You go I, don't want to hear the complaints here we got a charger. I believe this is a fast charger as well. I'll confirm that in the review over here, a USB cord and then a dongle, because we love dongles, don't we know we don't love dongles, so don't really care for a dongle, no headphone jack on this one. That's basically the contents within the box, just some basic stuff for the Sony Xperia one.

So, let's get started here, I'm going to get started and hit I'm aware I'm, aware: I'm, not going to allow for information to be collected. We're going to skip that we'll skip the Wi-Fi for now. We're not gonna. Do any speed test anything like that in this video. Let's hit next, just some usual Google stuff I, don't want diagnostic data allows scanning we'll let that go, so we're now in the phone, and you could see this is a nice looking display right here.

I can't really tell on first impressions that it's 4k, but I can tell you it's very tall flat display, so we don't really have no curves going on here, and it's pretty narrow. So even though it's tall pretty narrow I like what I see, though, for multi window, we have a little 21 by 9 multi window feature here for the Sony and if you like to do split screen on your phone, this is gonna, be an excellent phone for doing so. Let's, lets it into about foam, and you can see out of the box, this runs Android version, 9 security, patch June, first bill number, five, five, zero dot, a dot, 2.2, seven, eight right now, a lot of people are complaining about this phone being a little slow with the camera. So I'm going to have to go ahead and test that out myself in actual usage of this camera, but I'm really excited to test this one. Now, let's also take a look at how bright this phone gets, and I could see so far.

It doesn't look like it's brighter than other phones. I had tested this year, so initial impressions, very sharp, but doesn't look quite as bright as yes, ten plus, for example, or even the one plus seven Pro I'll have to confirm that again. This is my first impression. First, look, so I have to confirm that in the full review. So let's take a look at the storage.

This is a 128 gigabyte device out of the box. They use a 16 gigabyte, so you have about a hundred and twelve or so available for use now with expandable memory. This is gonna, be plenty enough for the most people who are going to be buying this device. Now. I should also mention that this thing has six gigabytes of RAM.

So it's not your highest Ram. But, let's be honest, do you think you're going to need more than 60 gigabytes of RAM with an 855 CPU and a clean version of Android I. Doubt it I. Think six gigabytes of RAM is gonna, be plenty for this Sony Xperia one. The only thing, that's really concerning me with this device is the 3300 William hour battery, which I will keep an eye on as I.

Do my review process on this device? So let's look a look at the display, because this really is the star of the show. This 21 by 9 aspect ratio is like watching a movie and the movie theaters on your phone in your bed. It's going to be amazing experience if you love to watch movie so now, I have seen it get it really bright when I. Just put this little feature on in here, so I have to your know, see how bright this is in comparison to other phones, but you got creator mode. You got standard mode.

This phone got some nice display features I'll cover more of them when we get into a little more in depth on that, let's go ahead and take a look at multitask on this device. So I opened up messages. I opened up phone, let's go ahead and split these. Let's click that right here, split screen and messages, so you can kind of see that there's a lot of space to work with on this device versus other phones. Because of how tall the display itself is.

So that's going to be very useful here now. One thing about this phone is because it has that 21 by 9 aspect ratio, you're going to get black bars like bigger ones on YouTube than a lot of other phones. When we pinch in, though you can see very nice long movie like display, this is just absolutely gorgeous. Speakers are also pretty loud as well, because Sony has decided to do what you should do if you're gonna charge almost a thousand bucks for a phone and that's put dual speakers in this device now. One thing you should take note of is that this phone still has a bezel at the top and still a little one down here, and I'm, not sure if you can hide this bar at the bottom, so its design on the front while unique and being tall.

It's still not that all screen display that the smartphone industry is headed towards. So you know it's got a little of an older look in that regard, but still unique in being super tall with a 21 by 9 for people who don't like notches. You'll love this phone. Alright. So let's take a look at some wallpapers here.

Let's see what Sony's got for you on this phone I really always like. Looking at the wallpapers because, most new phones get a new set at least most new Android phones, most iPhones, don't get a lot of new sets of wallpapers, pretty nice stuff I. Actually like the way these look they're pretty clean. A lot of these I think we've seen on some Sony's before, but there's a few new ones in here. Pretty good amount of wallpapers here for the device.

I think you'll be happy with those now I want to go ahead and compare these to some competitive phones on the market. We'll begin with the Samsung Galaxy s, 10 plus you can see it's definitely a taller phone and the Galaxy has 10 plus is no slouch of a phone. It's a pretty big phone as well, but it's narrower than that device. So it should feel pretty easy to go side-to-side on this device, but definitely a lot taller it's about as thin and feels about as light as the s10 plus. So that's a good thing for the Sony opera.

Now, let's go ahead and take a look at the OnePlus 7 pro now. This phone is a lot denser than that of the Sony Xperia One, so heavier feeling than this phone. But that gives it a substantial feel now look at that all screen display, but it's not the same aspect ratio but still gives you all screen display on the OnePlus 7 pro the Sony phone, not quite as innovative looking, but still unique, still it's taller than the already very tall, 1 plus 7 pro. So you can see right there, and I like that matte finish over here, because this guy just definitely doesn't attract a lot of fingers. Prints I think it's pretty competitive, it's just it doesn't have that all screen.

It has more of a tall display, ok guys! So before we wrap this up, we got to talk a little about the camera. You do have a triple camera on here telephoto. We do have a wide-angle as well as a standard angle lens on this camera, and you can go ahead and open up the camera touch. The focus take your shot now over here. If we go into settings, you have things like a self-timer still image size.

You also have object tracking, a soft skin effect and much more going on in this application in modes. You have creative modes manual panorama slo-mo portrait selfies, and you can change your aspect ratio right from the camera app itself. Furthermore, you can get some decent control without having to go into a separate application. Now in video, this is gonna, be your standard, video camera app right here. You got 4k Full HD, full HD 60, which is what I record my videos on and I also record, almost all my videos on a Sony camera.

As you can see right there, that's definitely a Sony camera, so I think Sony makes some of the best cameras in the market. That's why I really wanted to try out this phone and what really drew me in was a cinema Pro application right here which allows you to change your lens to a wide-angle, 16 millimeters on the far end 52 millimeters wide. You can change your ISO settings, your white balance. This is really fine-tuned control and nothing like I've seen many other smartphones out there, and I'm glad that Sony brought this to this phone with a 4k display you'll be able to view it in a beautiful 4k right on the phone itself, so I have to, say the camera looks promising. I'll have to see what the results do.

Let me know your thoughts' feedback. What you want to see on Xperia 1. Thank you very much for watching the phone goes for 949. It will definitely come down over time, as all smartphones do, but I think it's pretty promising so far. If you guys want to try out a Sony smartphone for the first time.

This is one of the best, if not the best they've ever done subscribe. If you haven't already Nick care up, and you'd a mess to your technology. Thank you very much for your support and watching the videos. It's very well appreciated. Giveaway coming at 500k I will see you all in the next episode.

Peace.
