Samsung Galaxy A21s Gaming, Speed & Performance Test! (New Exynos 850 Processor)

What's going on guys, my name is Wade with tech daily and in this video we're going to be doing a speed performance and gaming test with a new Samsung Galaxy, a 21s. Now I, don't normally do dedicated speed test videos with just one phone I like to do side-by-side comparisons, and those videos are coming with this phone. Don't worry, but I wanted to focus just on this device for this video because for one I, think there's a lot of attention on the 21s right now it's super affordable, it's available worldwide and if the comments on my recent videos are any indication, this is going to be a really popular phone. So many of you guys were waiting for its release. Also, with the new age 21s Samsung packed in their own brand new budget processor, the Enos 850 they very well could have just thrown in a MediaTek processor like a couple other new, a series phones have- or they maybe could have thrown in a low-end Snapdragon processor, which could have been a decent move, but they didn't. They came out with their own chipset and I.

Think a lot of people are interested in seeing how this thing performs, because honestly Enos processors, whether they're low end or high end, they don't really get a lot of love. They just don't always perform that. Well, especially under stress, so it's going to be interesting to see what this new budget chipset can handle and how it performs. When we push this phone a bit harder. My a 21s is the variant with 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of built-in storage.

I think that's what most people will likely end up buying. So this should be a good representation of what you can expect. We're gonna play through a bunch of different games. I'll go through the OS a bit as well, so you can get a feel for that. There's lots to go over in this video, so I won't waste any more time.

Let's just go ahead and see what this phone can handle. First off in regard to the benchmark test. Scores here are the results for Geek bench 5, a single core score of 184 and a multi-core score of 11 56 and within 2 ? I got a combined result of 131,000 867. Now these numbers only mean something when we put them up against some other phones. So here are the scores for the 31, the 41, the 51 and a 71.

So you can get an idea of where we're at with the 21s, and my biggest takeaway here is the single core score is honestly pretty low, but the multi-core score is comparable to what we get. Basically, all the way up to the 51 which is kind of interesting and within 2 to the 21 s is obviously a bit behind the rest, but it's not so far off until you obviously just stack it up against the 71 with scores like these, this phone at least seems fairly competitive. One quick thing I want to mention when it comes to unlocking speeds with a fingerprint reader and face on lock. Both of these methods are pretty good and face unlock actually is really quick. So that was my first indication that there's some potential and speed with this phone in regard to just the overall Android experience, the 21s actually performs quite well I started off with nothing loaded here, no apps running in the background or anything like that, and you can kind of see how things go as we start to launch and load more and more stuff, I think in general.

This is where Android 10 and Samsung's 1 UI 2 update, really shine. Samsung has done a pretty nice job, optimizing the OS to work well, even on these budget phones and that's important I- think there's no sense in saving money going with a phone like this. If it doesn't perform well, I've had the phone for a couple of days now and there hasn't been any instance where it's gotten hung up or an app has crashed, which is good, at least with the stock Android apps, the Samsung Apps and a few of the third-party apps well get to those gaming apps in just a minute, but all in all, if your primary purpose and having this phone is gonna, be texting and WhatsApp YouTube videos, web browsing social media picture taking just stuff like that, I, don't really see any issues. I've had 18 or 20 apps loaded up on this phone so far, and really it didn't slow it down at all, and I'd say that when it comes to just general performance, just the user experience as a whole, this phone has exceeded my expectations for a vast majority of people who use this device for average everyday stuff. There shouldn't be any issues here now when we do move on over to gaming.

There's actually a few things here worth mentioning. First off I sort of ordered these games from easiest to most complicated I. Guess you could say we'll do some low intensity games first and then move on up to more graphics, heavy multiplayer, stuff, and you'll see as we progress further and further. This phone does eventually meet its match, but with this first game here, which is asphalt, 9 legends, this phone plays through it really well asphalt.9 isn't a particularly complicated game. It's an arcade style racing game where most of the controls are done for you, and you're just sort of tapping your nitro boosts drifts and spins and swiping left or right to choose a lane.

So there's not a ton of player input that might affect how the game runs, but even though the game itself is simple, I think it's a pretty good game. As far as the graphics go, it's a good indication of what the phone can handle, and I didn't need to adjust or change anything in how this game ran. The settings are just the default options as far as the graphics go and going through a number of races here, I only noticed a frame drop about every once in a while. Nothing that affected how I played I'm gonna just go ahead and let a few races run here, so you can see and hear how everything plays uninterrupted, and you can judge for yourself how you think this phone handles the game, all in all I'd say with asphalt. Nine legends, the 821 s passes the test.

This is a smooth playing game with this phone next up, we've got Real Racing 3, which is a little more complicated of a racing game. I think it doesn't necessarily have the crazy visuals of asphalt 9, but it has much more player, controlled inputs and more realistic graphics, as well as bigger tracks and more stuff to download it's just a big graphics, heavy game in general, and it actually takes up a good chunk of space on the phone, a lot of gigabytes. If you decide to download all the racing series, the cars and the tracks once again, I actually didn't change any of the graphics settings here with real racing, simply because I didn't need to the default options were perfect and once again, I do think this game plays really well on this phone. In fact, I think real racing is even a little better optimized an asphalt 9 only because I felt less frame drops during races and again. That mainly has to do with just the lack of any crazy visuals, but the real-world graphics here are steady and solid, and everything looks good once again.

I'll just go ahead and play through a couple races, so you can get a feel for it in real time. For the second test, once again, I'd say the 821 s passes for sure Real Racing 3 is definitely a game you can enjoy on this phone next up, we've got probably the most requested game that you guys always want to see, played Call of Duty mobile now, to be honest, I thought that maybe this is where the 21s might start to trip up, but actually now that wasn't the case at all. Call of Duty mobile, in my opinion, is probably one of the most well optimized mobile games across all devices in all platforms, and that means even on a phone like this. It does play really well, in fact, aside from a brief little blip at the start of a match when the camera sort of pans over the map, I never experienced any sort of hiccups or frame drops in game, even as things were getting more intense, with kill streaks going off grenades, exploding, people jumping around and shooting right next to each other. There wasn't anything that I found that caused the phone to mess up Call of Duty.

Mobile is just another game that I found plays really well on this phone and will go ahead and play through it a bit here in real time again, so you can see it in action again. I was super surprised to see how all this one performed with college' T-Mobile. If this is the game, you're most concerned about I'd, say there's no reason to be worried. This phone can handle it for sure. The first game I had a real problem playing on the 21s.

Unfortunately, is fortnight now right off the bat. This game takes forever to load, we're talking multiple minutes just to get to the main screen, which for me was the first indication that this game was just not going to play well on this phone. Also, you get a pop-up right away. That says, fortnight isn't technically supported on the 821 s yet so another indication, this game isn't meant for this phone right now that may change in the future with a fortnight update, but the problems go beyond just that. Little notification when I first dropped into a match.

In fortnight the game was absolutely unplayable. The default graphics settings were simply not low enough to even allow me to move around smoothly, and that was super frustrating to see. In fact, I pretty much had to move the graphics in 3d settings to their lowest options, just to be able to get fortnight to play at less than 20 frames per second somewhat smoothly, even rendered at low settings. Fortnight is just not a game that can be enjoyed on the 821 s right now, which is really unfortunate. I'm going to go ahead, and let this play out for just a minute.

So you can kind of get a feel for it, but just know I was struggling to even keep my player in the direction. I wanted him to go. It was not a fun time and also remember this is being played at some of the lowest graphics and 3d settings that I had set so yeah. If I didn't stress this enough already fortnight on the 821 s is just not currently updated or optimized enough to place smoothly. It may get an update in the future to make things a bit better.

I hope it does. But if you're trying to enjoy this game on anything beyond the lowest graphics settings, you're going to have to pick a different phone fortnight and the 21 s right now are not a good combination. Finally, let's talk pub G now, honestly, with as bad as fortnight played on this phone, I was half-expecting pub G to be just as bad and actually the first time I did load up this game. It was a bit harsh. There were frame, drops slow response time and the glitchy and clunky sort of setup, but after making some slight adjustments to the graphic settings, I was able to find the right combination and actually found out that pub G is very playable on the 21s.

In fact, I'd say it plays really quite well on balanced graphics and medium frame rate. Once again, I don't go ahead and let the game play through here for a minute, so you guys can judge for yourself, but honestly, I thought this was a pretty solid result in general, if you're hoping to casually play some pub G with the 821 s, I'd say you'll likely enjoy what this phone can offer you there wasn't really anything going on that hindered my gameplay aside from me just being bad at the game and this phone handled even a more graphics. Heavy game like this pretty well out of all the gaming results. This solid play through here with pub G, was probably the thing that surprised me the most now there's one last thing: I want to talk about which is kind of interesting. When I started filming this video, the battery on the 21s was at a hundred percent, and you can also see what the time was.

We started at about 1:30 p. m. after two and a half hours of gaming, which included four or five asphalt: nine races, three real racing circuits, probably three or four Call of Duty matches and a fortnight and a pub G match the phone dropped to 80% battery I, actually think that's pretty good. All things considered and indicates to me at least that well, yes, the 5,000 William battery is a pretty good size. In general, the Enos processor seems to be managing pretty well ? I, don't see any reason for concern that it's a battery hog at least right now, which is good and then playing through all these games to the afternoon I didn't see the phone get too tripped up the more we used it, the more we pushed it or the more apps we had loaded up all in all I'd say BA 21s in general is a pretty decent phone for gaming and performs really well for all the usual day-to-day stuff.

But beyond that, I have some hope here that Samsung's new XE knows a 50 processor is pretty good too, and I'm interested to see how it ends up faring in the long run. But what do you guys think did the 821 s perform as well as you thought, or were you hoping for a bit better? Let me know in the comments below I'd love, to know your thoughts, of course, but hopefully you guys did enjoy this video be sure to follow tech daily on Twitter and subscribe to the tech daily YouTube channel.
