Pixel watch leaks and Pixel 5a cancelled? | News Radar

What is going on everybody, it is Friday April the 9th- and this is my news radar guys. We have pixel phones, pixel, watches, qwerty keyboards and more, so please do stay tuned to the end of the video for all the cool news on this episode and if you'd like to help the channel out by becoming a member click that join button down below or simply like, share or subscribe. All of these things do have the channel out tremendously, thanks. So, let's start off with what I think is the coolest news of this episode. We all know that for years and years and years now, Apple has dominated the smartwatch segment with the Apple Watch. It's a fantastic watch, it's pretty expensive, but it's a perfect watch pretty much.

Nobody complains about the Apple Watch. Everything about it works really well. The UI is just absolutely buttery smooth when compared to pretty much anything on the market, what it can do, what it's capable of top-notch all around, and we know that Samsung has made some perfect watches using their own ti zen operating system, and I think their watches look quite nice and then, of course, we have Fitbit, which is what I tend to use just simple, because the battery life is outstanding and really that's pretty much. The only reason I chose Fitbit, and then you have android wear, which is your know, Google's answer to the smartwatch conundrum, and it is not something. I've been a huge fan of I have had in the past some android watches, which I had the Moto 360 back in the day, and I had a fossil sport before this Fitbit, which you know was not a great watch.

It was cheap and it was okay. We've never had, though, is an official made by google smartwatch, a pixel watch. If you will, and now today, we do have leaks of exactly that. These links come from john prosper, who has front page tech YouTube channel, but this is on phone arena here, because they've kind of distilled it down a bit. This is what john prosper is leaking, showing to be the pixel watch and at first blush just looking at the appearance.

I think two things one. This looks like a Samsung gear watch, one of their sport watches, which is not a bad thing because thought number two is they look great? I think that they look really, really good. I love this circular band. Furthermore, I love having the crown there. Furthermore, I do wish there were some physical buttons, besides just the crown, but you can do a lot with that crown.

So that's going to be probably sufficient, so processor is claiming he's obtained a bunch of photos of the highly anticipated Google Pixel watch named Rohan, which that is a code name that I think was floating around for a while says his image show off a slick design with a circular display and a metal frame. Presumably, Google has chosen two and a half d glass for the front and avoided bulky bezels, like the ones found in certain Samsung wallet watches, and I agree this looks like you- go pretty much straight to the edge here with very little bezel going on there. This is huge here. Google seems to be taking full control of the hardware side of things with potentially custom google silicon could be in this watch and that's a huge deal because, with android watches in the past, Wear OS the more ram you got the better. These things ran.

Originally it was very low amount of ram, and they were just slow. When you're launching Google Assistant, they were just horrifically slow. So if they've got a good chip set in here, this could be a big improvement. We looked at some kind of different looking locking mechanism here for that band not sure. What's going on there, it is looking like an announcement will be made in October alongside a flagship, pixel 6, so that all does make sense.

But again, just strictly speaking about the appearance of these things, hey that that blue band black face that looks pretty good. If they can manage to offer some truly great battery life and good performance, it could be something I could jump ship off of Fitbit and over to Wear OS again speaking of john prosper, he also is reporting something quite crazy. He's reporting that, due to chip shortages, the rumored pixel 5a has been canceled, he says bad news, barrette pixel 5a has been canceled, I'm told is due to the chip shortage and as of this morning, it is not moving.4. , pixel, 4a and 485g will continue to be sold throughout 2021. So there are rumors about what the pixel 5a was going to be.

You know you're taking the five. Maybe you downgraded a little. You dropped that price down again. Obviously the line of the pixel phones have done really, really well, so for the 5a to be cancelled, that's a pretty big piece of news. However, let's stir the pot a little here, because Google is saying it's not cancelled.

This is by the way. This is a phone that hasn't even been officially announced. A Google spokesperson sent on the following statement: pixel 5a 5g, is not cancelled. It will be available later this year in the US and Japan and announced in line with last year's a series phone when that was when that was introduced. Android central has cited two independent sources along with john prosper, claiming that it was canceled.

Google is saying it's not cancelled. We have a Schr?dinger's pixel situation right now. It is both cancelled and not cancelled, strange that they even answered this, because it's not even been announced, so technically they've announced it by saying it's not cancelled. Maybe it is cancelled, very, very strange story, something to definitely keep your eye on, and obviously we've just talked briefly about google silicon there's a news radar from a few days ago, where I talked about this more in depth that everyone seems to be getting into the business of making their own chips their own hardware. That does not appear to be slowing down in the lease, because we have a headline here from android police, Xiaomi and Oppo plan to take on Qualcomm with their own smartphone chips.

So Xiaomi's already teased this in the past. You can see this here on this article at android police, where they mention this, but overall this is just really, really interesting, because Qualcomm had been the primary maker for all these companies. Snapdragon is in everything, but now not only has Samsung made a lot of waves for the new Enos processors that have improved dramatically. Google is apparently working on this white chapel project to make their own silicon that will be in Chromebooks and in the upcoming potential of the pixel. Six.

Obviously, Apple's been doing this for a long time and now Xiaomi is a big deal. Opp is a big deal. If you don't know, Oppo and OnePlus have a similar. I think you have the same parent company. Xiaomi is massive, so this is huge, and we know that Huawei with the Kieran ships have their own ships too.

There's a big reason why everybody wants to have control fully through all of this, not just the hardware and the software, but everything it allows you to just make a more customized device. You can customize that software customize that hardware and do what you want to do with it apple has proven how potent this is, and now everyone has seen wow. We need to get in on this silicon creation process. It looks to me like Qualcomm might be in some trouble and, lastly, I just want to kind of run this one by you guys. So a lot of the people on this channel use their smartphones for productivity style tasks, but I want to know what you guys think about a device like the unihertz titan pocket all right.

This thing just popped up the other day. Obviously this is a small screen, but this looks like a blackberry, full qwerty keyboard, running android. It's supposed to be durable supposed to have good battery life, which it should with the screen that size. I just kind of want to know what you guys think about this. This thing is going to go on Kickstarter and shouldn't be super-duper expensive.

We talk a lot about screen real estate and how that works. How that helps for productivity? We also talk about how bad the keyboard has been on the Surface Duo and how much that slows you down. I know for me, it's slowed me down a lot lately, so how much productivity do you gain by having quick, accurate typing because, like I've said before with the key one, the blackberry key one or the key two, you don't type faster, but you tap type more accurately, you make far fewer mistakes in my experience, so you don't hit backspace nearly as often as I do typing on a touch screen, how much more productive does that make you, so I'd love to know kind of what you guys think about the trade-off here of? Do you need the big screen, or could you do without the big screen to have a keyboard to be able to type accurately when you're you're typing out an email or something like that? Just kind of want to know what you guys think about that so guys. That is all the news I have for you today be sure to check back every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the next news radar and until next time, stay nerdy. My friends, you.
