iPhone 12 Mini: The Camera Every YouTuber Needs

Hey everyone. Sorry! It's been a few weeks since I've been on here a lot's been going on, and today I'm doing a very specific video. So today I am filming with the iPhone 12 mini and typically, if I were shooting an entire episode about an iPhone, it would mostly be because I have zero content left in me to produce. That is not the case with the iPhone 12 mini um. I am doing this because I am genuinely extremely impressed with this phone. This camera phone, this phone camera a few other updates.

I've got some cool new gear reviews coming out, including some products from landmark for my iPhone 12, as well as a new monitor from portrays that I'm super excited about. So a few new products coming, I'm really excited so here we go we're about to check out the iPhone 12 mini. So if you think back to the days of standard definition, video uh, some of you might not even have been alive when that was the video standard, dev um. But if you think back to those of you who are alive and remember that transition from SD to HD, you remember that HD was incredible. So let's do a little of an experiment.

Here, go back and watch the beginning of this video change, your settings to standard def to 540 and watch it for a minute, and you're gonna, be in shock. You're going to be like why who on earth would watch this? Why is this even a thing but surprise, surprise we all used to watch standard def. That was the only thing available until HD rolled out and everyone was like. This is just the best thing ever now: there's 4k 8k, you name it 12k in the Ursa mini pro cameras that shoot 12k. Of course, you have film, which is scalable.

Sorry, I'm out of breath because of the altitude but watch it in 540 and then switch back to 4k, and you'll be shocked. Of course, you're going to be shocked, because the quality is just that much different. I compare the quality of the iPhone footage to that comparison, not for the resolution or pixel quality, but for the sake of we used to watch that, and we were okay with standard def until HD and 4k came out. Of course. Now we can't stand standard dev.

These things are not the best camera. Of course there are many better cameras, but for a phone this is pretty freaking amazing, and I guarantee in about two or three or five years time. The video quality on phones is just going to be outstanding to the point that we're like wow, we watched that you know I'd probably be out of ideas to be desperate enough to do a video about an iPhone 8 or something, but I'm actually genuinely impressed with the footage from the iPhone 12 mini so impressed that I would do an entire video and plan to do several more with this and a few accessories from landmark which are coming up. But let's just take a look at this footage. First, the stabilization, the stabilization is just stupid.

It's almost actually, I would go so far as to say it is better than my gimbals um when I'm shooting with my gimbals, you get some up and down while you're walking with this thing, it's just smart. You use the accelerometer and science and stuff to uh perfectly balance it. So it's just incredible. On top of that, 4k at 30 frames uh, pretty sharp image, excellent focus, of course, and then you have a wide and a standard lens. Oh, there's a ladder going up a tree um.

This is one powerful tool, especially for YouTubers and vloggers, and travel, documentarians, etc. Um yeah, I'm just really crazy impressed with this little camera. Now, for those of you who are, you know, really pay attention to the pixels, you shoot only with a cinema camera, whatever you're gonna. Look at this and say well, yeah, the pixel quality is not the best man. I mean that sucks.

Well, yeah, it's not the best camera. Of course not. It's meant to be a phone, but I am confident enough to use this in a production if I needed. If I had to use it, I would use it, and I'd be happy with it. So uh, you know, pixel quality is not great but, like I said, give it a couple of years, it'll be way better than where it's at now and well worth using something else.

I've learned about doing YouTube. Videos always review your footage in the field, I've gotten home so many times and looked at the footage, and I'm like crap this sucks and most of it sucks, and I can't really use any of it, so always review your footage at least some of it, because you just never know you might be underexposed overexposed out of focus. I shot one back there, that was out of focus, and I'm like I'm an idiot, always review your footage in the field period. Of course, another awesome feature about the iPhone 12 mini. Well, really any anything after the iPhone 8 is that they're all waterproof, and I think this one's even goes deeper than the eight I mean it was like what was it a meter and a half or something, or I don't know, but I believe the iPhone 12 goes deeper.

I could be completely wrong, but that's what I recall I'll look it up when I get home, something I think would be cool on the newer models. Maybe it's just a software update is voice control like a GoPro. I think that would be extremely helpful in many situations, especially since more and more people are moving to, you know, shooting with their phone or shooting with a GoPro kind of thing, but as the phones get better and better, I think voice control would be phenomenal. I frequently check my pockets to see where my iPhone is, and then I forget that it's using I'm using it to film man, it's beautiful out here, it's nice to uh, it's nice to get a break from the uh, the valley heat. It's been about averaging 100 degrees every single day, past two weeks or so.

This week, we'll have a break, be low 90s, but man it's beautiful up here, it's probably 71 degrees and breezy, and just stunning, of course the Tahoe region is, is gorgeous, so I'm just taking a hike here along. I believe this is part of the Tahoe rim trail. No, it's not actually I'm wrong. This goes to mount rose. Slide.

Mountain mountainous, campground slide mountain. Something like that. I don't know. I really don't know where I'm going. Furthermore, I don't know where I'm turning around there's nobody out here, and I'm pretty sure it's prime bear season, but man it is worth it because it's nice and cool and just a beautiful evening.

Furthermore, I love. Furthermore, I love watching the uh. The sun hit the trees in the evening and something I don't like about the iPhone 12 mini. I guess the iPhone camera in general is uh the auto white balance, as well as uh, auto exposure. You can adjust you can.

You can select this at the spot on the screen where you want to expose, but I just don't like the full auto features. Even still it's an amazing camera. You know if I were using something- and I typically would use something else, such as film pro. You know, I wouldn't just use the uh the camera app, but I'm not I'm I'm shooting just with the camera app for the sake of showing the quality of the camera. So yeah, I'm pretty happy with that.

So that's a look at the iPhone 12 mini footage. The accessories I'm using I'll, put a link to my clip that I'm using the tripod that I'm using also the tripod that I usually use. For this thing I found a new one that I really like links will be in the description below as well as all of my other gear. I'm excited to tell you all that I've got some products coming out, not video products, although maybe one day I don't know, I'm not really not too concerned with making cuts or anything because there's a million out there, and you all can find some great ones, probably better than I can make. So I'm not going to make lots so yeah, two enamel mugs, a long sleeve shirt, a nice fleece sweatshirt and a hat and a sticker.

So I'm stoked those will be out soon go to therealadventure. org, and you can check them out. You cannot order them yet but post in the comments below telling me if you are interested at all in ordering them, because that might speed up my process in getting orders in so um and making those available. So yeah leave a comment below telling me if you're interested in any of those products again, it's the real adventure. org you'll find the products on the shop page and uh super stoked, and shout out again to my boy was for his awesome t-shirt designs go check out his page art of atlas and his Patreon.

Thank you guys. So much for watching I'll see you next time. You.
