I bought the WRONG M1 iPad Pro!

So, I'm in the place where I normally do my live streams on Saturday mornings, of course, people that just got done watching the live stream. What's up put the hashtag down below you know what it is uh, and I also do my podcast gadget cast. I do it here, rather than where I shoot my normal videos and the reason why I'm doing this video here is because this is where I realized I may have bought the wrong iPad Pro, and I'm not particularly proud of myself, especially considering I literally made a video about this like before. I ordered it, but I mean it's like it's not my fault completely. It is kind I mean it kind of is, but it's kind of not listen. I'm not trying to take the blame for this one.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to blame it squarely on apple because of things, and I'm going to tell you all about those things right after this. What up players welcome back and for all you knew people welcome. My name is Travis and I do tech videos every single week and have a blast doing what that sounds like fun to you. Sit back, relax and enjoy the video anything I talk about will be in the description below, but for now, let's just get into the video so yeah we're here, because I'm going to go through the Apple website and kind of tell you what happened when I ordered the iPad Pro for those of you that are new to the channel. Welcome uh! I do videos about this, and we'll be doing a lot of videos about the m1 iPad.

Pro that's coming out here very shortly. The 12.9 inch so hit that subscribe button and hit that like button, so you can come on back when I get those videos out you're not going to want to miss them, but for everyone else, who's been here for a while. You know that I actually use an iPad Pro to edit all the videos on this channel, including this one, and I love it as a productivity machine. It's a great tablet, um the existing one I have is the 2020 version now to be perfectly honest, and I'll probably do a video about this later. If you have the 2020 iPad Pro either the 12.9 or 11 inches or even the 2018 version, I'm going to tell you just don't even bother to upgrade. I have a feeling that the performance difference between that and this year's is not really going to be all that big.

So then, why did I buy one? Well, you I mean you're on the YouTube channel right here, trying to get my opinion on the iPad Pro. So, of course, I'm going to buy one plus. I also see it as a business expense, because I edit all my videos like I said, and it makes sense to always get the newest and greatest the latest and greatest and with that new screen with the mini led. Listen, I'm all hyped about that. That's probably one of the biggest reasons I bought it.

I did not buy it for the m1 processor because that's basically the processor that was always going to be in the iPad Pro. Let me explain. Apple did an amazing thing when they actually took what would have been the a14x processor and named it the m1, I mean that's actually what happened. So you start to think that a desktop level processor which you've seen in the Mac mini the upcoming iMac and, of course the mac books, is being put into a tablet. It's super exciting, but the reality is it's actually the other way around.

It's a tablet, processor that was put into desktops, which is still quite amazing. I mean, let's be honest, and the m1 is savage, and so is the upcoming m2 or m1x or whatever the heck's coming out. So you might wonder what kind of mistake did I make I mean. Obviously I do want a little more performance if I can get these videos out faster, that's a good thing and I totally agree, but the mistake comes down to the different things that you can order when you order the iPad Pro- and I talked about this a couple of weeks ago- and this is what absolutely buries my brain- I literally explain to you what I think is going to happen with the iPad Pro, and I forgot to order the right one. So, let's talk about what's happening, as I mentioned in a previous video, which I will link in the description below and put in an end screen.

I believe that professional level apps are coming to the iPad Pro for various reasons. I laid all those reasons out in the previous video. Furthermore, I want you to go. Watch that, but I'll give you a couple of them right here and the number one thing is the first time that apple is really full come forward and tell you how much ram is in an iPad and then gave you two options not only that those options are actually separated by general storage size on the iPad size. You can't get the 16 gigs of ram on a 256, gig storage iPad Pro, which is unfortunate because that's the one I bought and therein lies my mistake.

You see I've been using the 256 gig version of the iPad Pro for a long time. It's got enough storage for me, it's great, but I do want to be able to take advantage of those pro apps that may come out and when the pre-order time is 5 a. m, and I can't even pee straight at 5 a. m, let alone pre-order something and think that I should have ordered the wrong that I actually ordered the wrong product. I mean I kind of blame apple.

You could have made that like 8 a. m, pacific, please, why was at 5 a. m? Pacific, sun? That really hurt my soul. Now, there's no telling a that they will actually come out with pro level apps on the iPad Pro. That's not a guarantee or b that they won't work on the 8 gigabyte version, but the reality is why in the world, would you put 16 gigs of ram in a tablet? I mean it makes no sense.

WWDC is right around the corner, we're going to find out the new operating system for the iPad. We're going to see everything about it. But again it's not the operating system. I'm concerned about it's the apps things like Final Cut Pro and maybe logic, and some other really cool professional apps that are on the mac. There's no reason they can't come over now and one of the things that I saw in the comments, even though I talked about this in the last video- is that just because you buy more storage, they want to give you more ram, but why Apple doesn't do that apple? Doesn't give you something as a bonus they're, not even giving you power adapters in the phones anymore, like that's, not a thing they're, not being nice.

They're doing this for a reason, and it's for that reason that I'm kind of upset that I bought the eight gigabytes of ram on my iPad Pro, because I wanted the 256 gig, but in my defense it would have been really expensive to go the other way case in point. They make this thing. Look like a laptop. I mean who wouldn't put professional level apps on this thing, but let's go ahead and pretend to order like I did back when it was no o'clock in the morning when this thing launched. Obviously I went to 12.9 it's the only one with the Dr display. I want that.

I'm going to get silver this year. Try something new and of course, I went with the 256, because that's what I always get. I just forgot that I would have had to go for one terabyte. Now, I'm going to I'm only going to go Wi-Fi, I'm not gonna, add engraving and, ladies and gentlemen, eighteen hundred dollars later plus tax puts it at about two thousand dollars for a tablet. Further complicating the issue is the fact that the magic keyboard won't be a perfect fit now.

What we don't know is how good of a fit it'll be apple, finally came out and said that yeah it'll probably work, but they won't. They won't agree to say that it's going to be a perfect fit. So I don't know if closing it, it's just going to have a little of a bump or whatever I'm definitely putting a screen protector on it. So I don't know if it's just going to be a awful fit for this thing, and I'm going to want to upgrade, which is another 300 and change, which is no good. I mean we're talking stupid amounts of money, even for the version that I got like 1400.

If I get the magic keyboard as well, I mean more than that with tax it. It is really kind of depressing how much a tablet can cost. They actually have a great tablet at a stupid, good price right now. The normal, the baseline iPad is super powerful, the 812 processor chip, it's the one that I actually recommend for most people. They call this the pro this could be the year, and it's the only thing that makes sense, because this is the most expensive iPad Pro they've ever offered.

The two terabyte especially is ridiculously expensive and the only people that can legitimately say that they could pay the money, for that are people that are using professional level apps. So listen if you're, not a pro level, app user, there's probably no reason it for you at all to get an iPad Pro. If you like, the form factor, get a 2018 or 2020 version on sale, and I will tell you this really. The only difference between the 2018 and 2020 is the camera that you will probably never use on a tablet. So save yourself.

Some money get a 2018 version of the iPad Pro and leave this to people like me, who have a YouTube channel and have to buy it. Anyway, I mean, if you just look at the different offerings that they have on iPads, there's one for everybody really almost at any price range. I love the mini. I love the size of the mini. Furthermore, I wish they would redesign it, though it would look awesome if they had an iPad Pro design on the iPad Mini.

Oh my god, I would be all over that, but the normal iPad is absolutely amazing.329 normally under that. If you look for a sale, listen, ladies and gentlemen, there's an iPad for everybody. The pro is probably not for you, though, get it. If you got the money, but you don't get to spend that money and yes that's for the 12.9 inch, but that's the only one with the new display. I don't know if there's enough reason to get the 11-inch version of this, unless you just want to have the newest latest and greatest uh of the iPad Pro without the better screen which to me is the whole reason to get one of these things seriously.

It's the only reason and here's the thing I mean I do use it for business, this YouTube channel, so I can justify the expense, but I could never look the same at a tablet. That's 2 000. ! I could never look at it like anything other than a tablet that I overpaid for as it is. I spent too much money on the damn thing to begin with, but I can't wrap my head around a 2 000 pieces of hardware that wouldn't be used for professional level. Apps.

Think about that this thing is the price of a laptop. How could they not put professional level apps on this thing? Last year, john proctor said he actually saw a working version of Final Cut Pro on the iPad, but it was said back then that there was no way it would happen, there's not enough ram. Well now there is and there's enough storage with one to two terabytes of hard drive space. I've told you before. It only makes sense that this is the professional level tablet that they've been talking about for years, but my dumb butt made a video about it and forgot to order it.

So what do I do? Well now? If I try to order it, I won't get it for a couple more months as of right now I won't get it until July ain't. No, nobody got no time for that. So I don't know exactly what to do. Will I get it hold on to it for a little while return it? I don't know I mean what do you think I should do. Tell me in the comments below this is getting.

This is hurting my heart, ladies and gentlemen. This could be the one tablet that I won't need to replace for years to come to finally be able to use professional level apps on my iPad. That's all I need. I don't need anything else. Why did I do this to myself? Why did I do? Please watch these videos if you haven't already hit the subscribe button, I'm having a hard day.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have a hard day I'll see you next time, peace, love. You.
