Google Pixel 5 - 6 Month Review! Holy Pixels.

Pixel 5 is still the device that I would buy the first quarter of 2021. What's up everybody, this is Scott. Welcome back to another video well in today's video. This is the five almost five and a half month review of the pixel 5, and this is a very long term review. Yes, I've had the device for a long time at this point. There's a card up here.

If you want to know the whole story, how I had it a month ahead of everybody else way back in September. Yes, it's true, no I'm not paid by google, and I think that pretty much covers, but in the video I want to talk about how this has been my daily driver for the last five and a half is months. I want to talk about the look. The feel I want to talk about. The connectivity talk about the glass talk about the speaker, talk about the camera, so pretty much everything about the pixel and whether it's still the device that I would buy in 2021, spoiler alert.

It is still the device that I would use over almost every other single device. So far in 2021, so when we talk about the look in the field perspective, you can see on screen right now. It still has that aluminum or the aluminum shell on the inside, the almost plastic mat is type feel that you have on the back still the very fingerprint scanner that you have on the back, and I'll leave a link for all my previous videos. I have a whole playlist as it relates to the pixel 5. If you want to know what the look in the feel is like this has been my daily driver since september 2020, and I have had zero issues at all with the back of the case no scratching, I do have a screen protector on it.

Just a plastic screen protector, not a full glass one, because I really like the size and the weight of the pixel 5. So there's really nothing crazy or fancy about that. I guess you could have micro level scratches from the in and out of pockets in the five and a half months, no deep, grooves, no deeper grooves at a level seven or anything like that. So I have no issues at all with the gorilla glass that is on the pixel 5. Also, on the back.

I have almost no scratches either again most the time it lives. In a case. I really do like the feel of that. So typically, I keep the case on when I'm out and about. I do rock a clear case.

That's on it that desperately needs to be cleaned from fingerprints, but other than that when I'm at home. I pretty much live it outside the case. To be completely honest, I don't worry at all about those scratches or anything, even at five and a half or six months, I'm not worried about it at all. Now, there's a couple of things that I do still want to address the pulling away of the glass at the top and the speaker that you have at the bottom. Now I've done a ton of tests, links in all the descriptions here, links above here about all the speaker, tests that I've done with the pixel 5.

I still stand by to this very day. The speaker is not nearly as bad as everybody makes it out to be quick snippet from the previous videos on that and so yeah you can see that is it the best sounding nope. Is it the worst sounding? No, not even close yeah people are going to complain about the fact that you have to put your hand down here at the bottom, and it cups, and you don't really hear it, but that's pretty much the case on any bottom firing speaker at all, the pixel is no different when it comes to that. However, the top speaker, the one, that's under the glass, definitely doesn't sound as good as having a dedicated stereo speaker and again. I would imagine that you wouldn't expect that now one of the questions that does come up a lot is how's.

The phone calls when you have it up to your face. I've had no issues at all with people around me hearing my phone calls or the speakerphone not working. None of that now is it the greatest sounding speaker. No. Is it making me not want to use the phone, because it's so bad? Also, no, that's really! A non-issue for me at all when it comes to the speaker, so if you're a person who takes a lot of phone calls honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

It's being completely overblown about how bad the speaker is on the pixel 5. It's truly not that bad. Now, let's talk about the glass pulling away from the very top part of the pixel 5. In five and a half months. I have not had that issue literally at all.

It is still very much symmetrical at the top. Do I believe that this is something that happens yes, because Google has definitely said: hey, there's some sort of pulling away, but it's really nothing? That's going to deter you from using the phone, so I know that it is happening, but it has not happened on the pixel 5 that I had and of the people that I know that also have pixel 5s. None of them have talked about it either and honestly, if they would have I'm sure they would have told me about it and linked me on Twitter, to tell me how bad the pixel 5 is. So I also believe that issue is being blown completely out of proportion as well in addition to what's going on with the speakers, so those issues aside, it looks great. It feels great, I think it's the perfect size for the majority of the people.

It's got a great screen to body ratio, small chin, small foreheads, very small punch hole when it comes to the upper left. So all in all, I think that perspective. It still is great now how about the performance perspective over these last five and a half months. Honestly, I use this every single day as it relates to being a professional business person. I suppose I use all the Microsoft products I use all the Google products I use all the social medias.

I haven't had it chug once where it's like and not be able to accomplish anything. Multiple Skype calls. Multiple teams call multiple Slack calls. Basically, all throughout the day, there is nearly a performance issue at all with the 765g chip. Now, if I compare it to like the iPhone, is it a little slower than the iPhone? Yes, it's a little slower than the iPhone.

It's also several hundred dollars cheaper than my iPhone 12 Pro, so take that as you will, because again are those milliseconds that you're getting extra in the iPhone making you that much more productive when it comes to the professional business line? No, it's not at all. Actually I find myself having no issues at all. Most the time. I've actually had more issues with my bankbook than I've actually had with the pixel 5, as it relates to everything that I would need in my professional career by the way. This is also something that I used to play among us and roadblocks with my kids.

So I've had no phone performance issues at all. The battery life is still just as amazing, as it was on day, one still getting somewhere between five seven eight hours of screen on time. I am a heavy-duty user of it. I consume a lot of media, a lot of videos, a lot of music and I still get incredible battery life. So yeah honestly, I have had no issues at all with a pixel 5 when it comes to that.

Lastly, still the photos and the videos, they have still been basically the best point-and-shoot that you can get on the market. I still think it's a lot better than even what the new s21 and the s21 ultra has come out with Samsung and again, the s21 ultra is several hundred dollars more than the pixel 5 today still 699 dollars. You can get it right on Google site. Sometimes they run some deals where you may want to check in and see if you can get a nice trade in for it. I've heard a lot of people going to a 4a or 4a 5g and the pixel 5 is still priced at the 700 honestly, not a bad gig.

The 4a is still the device of the year in 2020. , the 4a5g is still a fantastic device and the pixel 5 is also equally a fantastic device. I would still pick one up over the s21 ultra 5g for sure, because I want to save several hundred dollars, and you're really not getting that much better performance. Arguably, a little better in terms of the video, definitely even when it comes to the point and shoot or the pixel still being the portrait king so yeah, all in all, I'm still choosing the pixel five and a half months later. If you are on the fence about buying one, let me just go ahead and tell you this way.

I would buy one. I think it's a great device. Furthermore, I still think it's a device that you can get, and you can use for several years at this point, you're getting exclusive pixel drops. You can see my video that I talked about over here about what the pixel drops were in December, once a quarter probably going to be getting one, so we're getting close to the very next pixel drop, which I'll, of course, I'll put a video out about. So that's it.

That's all I have thanks for watching and, as always as share subscribe thumbs up, leave a comment below we'll see you next time. You.
